We had read some reviews about the "Hill of Death" you had to climb before getting to these apartments. However when we got there we were picked up by the owners son in his truck who took us up the hill to our apartment so we didn't have to climb it to begin with. Our baggage was taken up separately and arrived about 30 minutes after we got there.
The apartment was spacious and very clean with a nice bathroom for Greek standards. The cooking facilities were quite sparce, only two portable cooking rings that were placed on top of the draining board. It also had a fridge and some utensils such as glasses, cups, plates and pans. The apartment was cleaned once a week but you are only given small hand towels to shower with so I would suggest you take your own bath towels with you.
Every apartment has a beautiful sea view that looks over to the island of Skopelos. The view is absolutely breathtaking and is particularly beautiful around 8pm, just before the sun goes down behind the mountains.
Troulos itself is really lovely with a beautiful clean beach that has crystal clear waters and plenty of sunbeds and parasols. We used the sunbeds outside Troulos Bay Hotel. They were 1 Euro cheaper than the others along the beach and were spread out more spaciously so you got more room. There are some really lovely tavernas to eat in. We partciularly liked the Green Meadow and Helens. Both are family run and produce lovely home cooking. There is also the Frog Bar at the bottom of the dirt track next to the supermarket. You can have a relaxing drink there after your meal and Lisa will look after you.
The buses run every 15 minutes to Skiathos Town and back and cost about 1.80 per person. Skiathos Town is worth a visit jsut to see the harbour and the monastry on the hill.
As for the "Hill of Death" - yes it is steep and you are knackered when you get to the top but it is worth the pain just to have those gorgeous views. Would really recommend staying here and would definitely go back.
