“Loved this place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2009

We had read some reviews about the "Hill of Death" you had to climb before getting to these apartments. However when we got there we were picked up by the owners son in his truck who took us up the hill to our apartment so we didn't have to climb it to begin with. Our baggage was taken up separately and arrived about 30 minutes after we got there.
The apartment was spacious and very clean with a nice bathroom for Greek standards. The cooking facilities were quite sparce, only two portable cooking rings that were placed on top of the draining board. It also had a fridge and some utensils such as glasses, cups, plates and pans. The apartment was cleaned once a week but you are only given small hand towels to shower with so I would suggest you take your own bath towels with you.
Every apartment has a beautiful sea view that looks over to the island of Skopelos. The view is absolutely breathtaking and is particularly beautiful around 8pm, just before the sun goes down behind the mountains.
Troulos itself is really lovely with a beautiful clean beach that has crystal clear waters and plenty of sunbeds and parasols. We used the sunbeds outside Troulos Bay Hotel. They were 1 Euro cheaper than the others along the beach and were spread out more spaciously so you got more room. There are some really lovely tavernas to eat in. We partciularly liked the Green Meadow and Helens. Both are family run and produce lovely home cooking. There is also the Frog Bar at the bottom of the dirt track next to the supermarket. You can have a relaxing drink there after your meal and Lisa will look after you.
The buses run every 15 minutes to Skiathos Town and back and cost about 1.80 per person. Skiathos Town is worth a visit jsut to see the harbour and the monastry on the hill.
As for the "Hill of Death" - yes it is steep and you are knackered when you get to the top but it is worth the pain just to have those gorgeous views. Would really recommend staying here and would definitely go back.

Disappointed when we arrived,as we were dumped at the bottom of the road, by the bus and rep. on duty, it was a very long steep hill which was our initial concern. We were
not met and had to find our own rooms, thankfully we had a lovely young man in our group who found the room, then took the cases up to it as we were on the top floor, but the room was very clean, spacious, shower was brilliant, and the views were amazing. We were more than happy with the room, the views, the pool, we couldnt have the air con on,as we couldnt find the owner, the first night, nor was there a rep. so we didnt sleep very well.
it was so hot up there. We eventually had it put on the following day, costing 42euro for the week. Well worth it as we found being on the top floor our room was very hot. We were impressed that the room was cleaned daily, and the towels and sheets twice during the week, though we did ask the rep. if we could have bath sheets as the little towel which was there initially was too small, for grown up bodies...and we got bath sheets and small towels too which was a bonus. So if you are going there just ask and you will be given them. All in all we liked the area, the beach was just around the corner which was lovely, the tavernas on the beach were nice too, we went to Koukinaris beach once but it was full of Italians so we didnt go again (they are soooooo rude pushing in front for everything including the buses) We think if we go again we would stay in or nearer Skiathos town as that was bril. The hill to the hotel was unbearable though we renamed it cardiac hill, as that is how you felt when you got to the top, it is misrepresented in the brochure,it really is very long and the road is more like a dirt track so girls forget the heels, you will kill yourself on that hill. Even the taxi drivers complained about it to us when we took them to get back up the track at night after going to Skiathos, as we just couldnt face going up that hill again at night. It was also pitch black the first couple of nights and we were glad we took torches.
It would have been nice if there were snacks/meals at the pool area and a bit of life it didnt give you much enthusiasm to stay by the pool really, especially when the other hotels had really good facilities by the pool. It certainly wouldnt entice me to return there as there are some really nicer places on a flatter surface, with better facilities listening to other people there, i think if we were to return we would stay either in Skiathos or nearer as it was lovely there, all in all it was a very beautiful place, the people were very friendly, but wouldnt return to the Paschalis as i was not impressed with the hill, the fact we only passed the owner once during the day and his wife/partner barely raised a smile, when we did see her, and there were no pool facilities, otherwise the cleanliness was very good, so top marks for that. The one thing really going for it was the beautiful views, oh and there were a lot of wasps there too. So be warned.....

Stayed at the Paschalis for one week during June 2009. After tackling the very steep hill up to the apartments we were very pleased with what we found. Lovely swimming pool with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. The view is wonderful, you can see the bay of troulos beach and the many villas and other accomodation of troulos. We were in room no. 11 on the ground floor. We had 2 single beds, a dressing table and a wardrobe with 2 drawers at the bottom. The kitchen facilities were basic, 2 cooking rings, full fridge, kettle and toaster. There were plates and bowls and bits of cutlery and well as 2 decent sized mugs. We also had a frying pan and 2 saucepans. There is a bar which is an honesty bar - basically you write in a book what you have had and settle up at the end of your stay. Cans of beer were 2Euros and water 4Euros (6 x 1.5 litres). Cans of pop were quite expensive at 1.50. The water was great as it meant you didn't have to carry it up the hill. The room was cleaned each day and bedding and towels changed twice during our stay. The towels are very small - basically a hand towel so you may consider taking your own.
Troulos is very nice, plenty of tavernas and a couple of bars. We went to the Frog bar ran by Lisa, turn left at the bottom of the track and it's just near bus stop 20. Large beer was 3Euros, small 2Euros. The bus service is brilliant, 1.80Euro into Skiathos town, they run every 15 mins up to 1am. We got off at bus stop 4 and walked down to the harbour which is lovely.
We ate at the Green Meadow in troulos and Nectar Ambroisia. Green Meadow very reasonable - 10Euro for set menu including 1/2 carafe of wine each.
Nearest supermarket is just at the back of Frog bar and it was ideal for the basics, you could also change money there.
