Let's get a few things straight on this place. There is a fairly long drive to get there, it's in the middle of nowhere, no wi-fi, no menu, no bar as such, no luxury 5star resort. If that is a problem then go somewhere else, what you do get is a rainforest retreat, with nature all around you. Excellent service, the best we have had in Sri Lanka, great home cooked food, great trekking and nature experiences, simple comfort. We really enjoyed the experience and would go again. They really look after you, and the massages from Robert were fantastic.

The two of us were happy to stay for one night at this relaxing quiet hotel. The staff was simply great, helpful and friendly, to make our brief stay so enjoyable. The food was fresh and tasty, the room so refreshing elegant and the location perfect if you'd dream to be in the middle of tranquility.
The outdoor bathroom was interesting.

This must have been one of the most authentic stays during our trip this summer. The lodge is run by the local community and provides a nice authentic touch : basic but nice rooms (somewhat rustic and "Fred Flintstone" style), very nice food, good ayurveda treatments, and extremely friendly staff. The views of the surroundings are stunning and if the weather is good (very mixed in our case) it is beautiful. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed our time there. There is not much to do, besides visiting the rainforest. All in all, a nice experience, but more a place for zen-worshippers than for thrill-seekers....

We had an incredible time at Rainforest Edge, the staff were extremely helpful and welcoming - they arranged all of our trips to the rainforest and helped us arrange transport to our next destination. Also on our last night, they showed us how to make traditional Sri Lankan food in the kitchen and also took us on an amazing tour of the village where we met the local people, who took us into their homes, cut king coconuts from the tree - without the staff we wouldn't have experienced Sri Lanka in such a natural way. The food was delicious, and every night there was something different. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, by far the best place in Sri Lanka and will definitely be going back. The views were breath-taking and saw lots of wildlife just sitting in the lodge. We took buses from Colombo and is just a short tuc-tuc journey from the bus station in Waddagala, really easy. We can't wait to go back.

Our initial impression of the room was that it was dark and gloomy, but over our two nights stay we found it worked rather well, and a few minor changes to introduce more comfortable seating in the room and the attached outside area would make a big difference, it would also be nice if they could finds an alternative to the outside netting. The room was very clean and free from any biting insects, day or night
The young team running Rainforest edge provides excellent, considerate, proactive service, with some really first class Sri Lankan food for dinner and breakfast.
The walk to the tea factory and plantation village, suggested by our hosts was well worthwhile, and we will never forget being led to the back of the dining area on our last night and shown two birds fast asleep – that’s service.
