“Loved Giola, loved the sea, loved the drive”
Review of Giola

Reviewed 29 July 2014

1. You can acces the road all the way down to the sofdrinks bar even if you have a Front Wheel Drive.
2. Have you hat and your bottle with water at least, and your watershoes with you. If you have a diving mask it's even better.
3. You can even jump in the sea, since there's a ledge that you can come out of the sea on. The abis in the sea, spoted with a diving mask is GREAT (~20 m in depth).
4. There are diferent heights that you can use to jump in the Giola. We've used the bigest, but you have to be careful when touching the water surface, and try to jump to the left side, since there's a big boulder to the right side.

First of all if you are on foot be sure that you have to walk about 30 minutes in dust under the sun. But the worst thing is climbing the hill with slippers. Do not let the photoshoped pictures mock you. The possitive advices are just for to feel the pain of travellers who visited there. Maybe better in different time of the year but it was a left pool just without frogs in.

We read about giola in internet, that its a beautiful natural pisine so we thought it would be nice.first its 3 kilometres to go and 3 to return in a road without nothing, not a tree! When we arrived we didnt like to swim in, because the water was so dirty and so many people in it. Thank God there is a cantine over there to take water for the return. If you have old people, children and tired dont do it!!! You will be ill for 2 days after and it will destroy your holidays.

It doesn't get any better than this... the Northern Islands of Greece are just as beautiful as all of the other islands of Greece - the Northern Islands are better because they are greener... yes you can find shade everywhere on the Island of Thasos!!! It has so much to discover... Enjoy your stay, you'll want to go back every year.

It's not very easy to find a signpost to Giola on the road as it is not very evident. The fisrt part of the way is possible to be covered by car, but still you'll have to walk down for about 500 meters.
Giola is a rocky place so you have to be careful.
We visited Giola in the afternoon and there were rather many people here, so I can't say it's a lonely place. However, being around in the morning I noticed less tourists there.
Everyone jumps into the water form the rocks, there are 3 points to jump: just from the shore, 5 meters high, 10 meters high.
It's not possible just to go inside the water, so be ready to jump anyway.
As no onne injured was seen, I can't say it's dangerous. We also jumped and didn't reach the bottom.
So I reccommend definitely to visit the place even if you are not risky enough to jump :))
