This was supposed to be a family enjoyment.

A "5 star luxury resort" as it appears In the hotel's internet site, fit to be a dreamy place to spend your time and perfect for a family vacation.

But here are some of the realities:

We booked 5 rooms all inclusive for 12 members of our family for 6 nights (July 2013).
We asked for non-smoking rooms, but we got a stinking, terrible smelly smoking room. Only after having threatened to leave immediately upon arriving , the receptionist found another non-smoking room available for us.

Part of our group consisted of a family of 5: parents and 3 little children, for which we booked (and paid for in advance) 2 rooms, explicitly requesting connecting or adjacent rooms. On arrival we were offered 2 far-off rooms, only after a long argument, the said family had to settle in one crowded room with a double bed, + 2 separate beds and 1 folding bed. Despite the fact that 2 rooms were paid for, we received just one and the Hotel dared to demand extra payment.

When toilet paper ran out, I had to call the reception few times and got it only after I called the manager.

In one of the rooms there was no water pressure and no hot water for a decent shower. It was fixed only on the 5th day of our stay...

Every afternoon and evenings there was no hot water in all rooms.

Each room was supplied with only one key, so if a family member went out and took the key with him, the others had to wait until a hotel employee came to open the room for them.

We paid 105 Euro (35 Euro for each room) for an internet connection, but 95% of the time it was impossible to connect to the Internet.

Im sorry, but we feel the review, dated 8th July.....and titled 'great potential, but let down by poor service, would not return'... if correct in parts is very harsh....We were in room room 643 that yes, overlooked a small farm did have a barking dog....but didnt go on throughout the night, early morning, which is Not the hotels fault. People have a row, again nothing to do with hotel.....reception staff, we would however agree lack customer service skills and are abrupt.

Pool bar in centre of complex may be open till 2am but is hardly a disco with loud music, we stayed at same time as this review in a similar location near mini golf and didnt experience loud music.

Animation team do engage the British guests, and yes, the entertainment can be inappropriate ......but starting at around 10pm shouldn't be classed as a family show!!....time for bed kids.....and three times we watched shows that were put on by outside entertainers....more professional.

Having to buy you own cereal for breakfast is.........sorry......ridiculous!!! Breakfast is fantastic....and food is only 'samey' if you are a fussy eater!

Once again thanks to the stella Palace, yes, anyone can pick faults....we had some niggles ourselves, but only niggles !!

and no need to clean your own bathroom unless you have OCD.....Crazy!

Stayed here for 2 weeks at the end of June with my partner, 9 year old daughter & 23 month old son ! Upon arrival I was very impressed with the stunning pools & the well maintained surrounding gardens!

On the 4th day of our stay I was dissatisfied with our room ( 635) so we changed firstly because we were opposite a farm with a barking dog all night long & secondly we were next to a couple who loved to argue until 3am, this was not my idea of relaxation on a family holiday.

We moved to room 533, the modern
room backed onto a beautiful terrace which led to the pool my son loved all the grass, he played daily. However it was located next to the pool bar that played music until 2am which again I thought was very inconsiderate as it is a family hotel ( take ear plugs I wish I had them )!

So yes this hotel does have stunning pools and beautiful surroundings, however we had a couple of issues with this hotel that we've never encountered abroad before...

The reception staff have NO customer service skills & are very very rude! Not only did they refuse to cash my travellers cheques ( very odd) but when they did they charged 3% but the next day charged 6%?How can they justify this they couldn't !!! Late checkout we were told was €40 on the day we were leaving we were charged €50! Inconsistent with charges & very rude mannerism let this hotel down !

The hotel animation team seemed to ignore British people , apart from Zulu he was friendly ! After watching a couple of vulgar & inappropriate shows in the amphitheatre we never watched the hotel entertainment again ! Their language & dress was not professional at all!

On the other hand , the Thomas cook kids club was fantastic my daughter loved it & took part in all payable parties ! Also Lloyd the rep is very friendly & worked hard.

The food was not brilliant , we resorted to buying our own cereal & eating breakfast in our room as it seemed pointless going to breakfast for cold beans. The evening meals were not appetising at all , even after fighting your way through to the food counters! Yes they make fresh pizza which is delicious but there's only so much pizza 1 can eat ! After my partner became ill & another friend of ours from home who was also in the hotel at the same time as us , became ill, we were quickly put off the food! The ham / cheese rolls at the pool bar are great if you like dead flies on them too , I shall upload photo of this ! Not impressed with the food at all! However we did enjoy the free visit to the Asian restaurant the food was better & you could relax & eat & the piano player was brilliant !

The maid service was as expected although I do feel they were rushed off there feet therefore could not do a thorough job , I resorted to cleaning the bath & toilet myself as it didn't get done & we went 2 days with hand towels only as there was a problem with the large ???

Despite these issues me & my family tried our best to enjoy our stay in crete! We ventured out the hotel on many occasions , we visited star beach , the aquarium that I highly recommend , aqua city & we went on the glass bottom boat ! The sun set from the hotel beach at night is amazing! It's a crying shame that poor receptionists operate this hotel & the food needs to be of a better quality & the hotel animation team need to be more professional ( like Thomas cooks animation team)! As if it wasn't for this for us it would've been brilliant but there's only so much arrogance a person who had paid a lot of money to stay here can put up with .

To finish on a positive, the photographer Niko is very friendly & we purchased many beautiful family photos from him & George who worked on the restaurant made my son smile daily ! So not all choose to be rude in this hotel but the ones that do let it down massively for this reason I would not return with my family !!

Our stay was 19th june - 3rd july. We travelled as two couples, age range 27-36, staying in two separate rooms no.521 near main restaurant and no.643 near mini golf, in middle of complex. We did ask for two neighbouring rooms but hotel was fully booked. Rooms were perfectly adequate, beds on the firm side, our bathrooms both had shower head bracket unlike some other reviews saying there's did not....but large gap between screen and top of bath so water did go on floor, but this is being picky!!

Grounds are in very good condition, with pathways being washed down and swept every day by the friendly staff.

Say hi to Kostas one of the day time bar staff at the swim up pool bar, very friendly guy and ask Mateus for 'no name shot' in the evening (same bar) if you fancy something with a kick!!!

Loads of activities for people with children throughout the day and evening, Laura and Vee from the family world team are a credit to the hotel.....daily quiz was fun. Animation team are none stop, (bit annoying at times) organising games, activities, tombola and evening entertainment.....the fire show in pool was very good where guests are invited to take part.

Food couldn't be faulted with lots to choose from at all meals, to much to list, with themed evening meals 5 times a week as well as offering all the usual choices. Food would only become repetitive if you are a fussy eater. Wine was not the best.....and rose seemed to be red/white mix!!
Beers are only served in small plastic cups when poolside and small glasses if at a table.....no pints available.......bit of a let down, would prob need three to make a pint! Only local spirits etc in the all-inc package, which is the norm in most places.
Tea/coffee, ice cream, cakes and rolls available at both pool bars throughout the day.

Private beach is small and overcrowded, but other beaches left and right offer more space.

Check out is a 12noon, we had a late flight so wanted to booked a late check out but hotel was fully booked so couldn't....but we were given access to another room 568 was showering and changing.....the bathroom in this room was more of a wetroom with no shower curtain or screen and made us wonder if they are in process of updating further rooms to the standard of the ones we had.

Analipsi is a quiet resort, but does have a selection of cafe/bars and tavernas within a 15 min walk.

perfect relaxing holiday, thanks to all the hotel staff!! Would highly recommend....

Room Tip: No free wifi from hotel is a let down....but in room 643 (back terrace) managed to pick up a signal...

Dining staff are so friendly can't do enough for you and very good with the kids especially Daniel really good with my two boys. Food great everything freshly made plenty of choice would recommend the Asian restaurant .

Rooms very clean modern great air con in are rooms but remember if u take key out off wall it goes off as it has to be in wall for electric to work. Rooms cleaned every day .

My kids absolutely loved kids club there a great team especially liam the lion , liam and Sophie kids loved them went kids club everyday and loved all the parties especially the chocolate party but beware they come out covered in chocolate.
