Loved this hotel.
Very luxurious and modern.
Staff are friendly, helpful and speak very good English .
Pools are spacious clean and not too crowded.
Rooms are beautiful, well equipt and comfortable.
Food in main restaurant was pretty good with a fair variety.
Wasn't so keen on the food in the a la carte restaurant.
Bars have a good selection of drinks and waiters are happy to bring you drinks pool side.
Pool bar is fab!
A fairly quiet location but main towns are only a short taxi ride away.
Would like to return to this hotel.

Just returned from Stella Palace and have to say it was the best family holiday we have had so far. The hotel itself is beautiful and really well maintained. The management appeared to be seamless and the staff were really friendly without exception. We had to move rooms due to a booking error on the first day but this was quickly sorted out and we were recompensed for that above and beyond what we had expected. Giannis and Fotis at the top bar were great and always had a smile. Our room was cleaned to a high standard every day and our towels were changed every other day. We even had fresh towels the day before our departure which was great as many hotels don't bother when they know you are due to leave. The food was lovely and varied and it did not feel like some hotels where you feel that you are being herded to the troughs! One of our concerns before we arrived was what the food would be like as we have the fussiest 11 year old you could hope to meet but we didn't need to worry! The themed nights were of a high standard. The gourmet restaurants were lovely too and made a pleasant change. The service at meal times was always really good - you were well attended to but didn't feel rushed. Lloyd Edwards our Thomas Cook rep was available if you needed him and was really helpful - he even came to say goodbye when we left even though someone else was doing the airport run. The only issue would be the early risers (before 6am!) who were putting their towels out on the loungers - that said we ended up joining them to ensure we got loungers together lol.

Room Tip: We had room 610 which which had a double bed and single bed. The room was on the first floor by the...

Tour operator: Thomas Cook
We stayed in room 587
2 adults and 2 teenagers, 15 and 16

We arrived early evening on Friday 2nd Aug, checking in at reception was speedy and professional. We then travelled on a golf buggy to our room. On arrival we found that room 587 was immaculately clean, and there was plenty of wardrobe space/drawers to keep clothes etc and the suitcases easily fitted on top of the wardrobes.

I cannot emphasise enough how clean the room was, clean bed linen and towels every other day.

You do not need to take towels for the sun loungers or beach as you can hire towels at €5.00 each. Just go to reception hire the towels and then go back every other day to get them changed. At the end of your stay simply take the towels back and the deposit is returned to you.

The hotel also arranges a laundry service via a local laundrettes, I used this service twice during our stay, the washing was returned after 2 days and every item was beautifully cleaned and ironed too. I paid a total of €40.00 for this service and would recommend it.

The grounds, restaurants, bars and pools in Stella Palace are well maintained and kept to a high standard. Every morning the pools areas are hosed down and then cleaned with mops.

The main restaurant in Stella Palace is the Poseidon, the food is plentifully and there is a lot of variety to choose from. The Maître-de is a gentleman named George, he works all day long and along with his team runs a well organised establishment; nothing is too much trouble.

We ate in the Asian restaurant twice, book early to avoid disappointment, you can also book the Olive restaurant during you stay too, we did not eat here but from hearing personal recommendations it was equally as good as the Asian.

Lloyd the Thomas Cook rep was helpful and we booked 2 trips through him, a boat trip and one to the local water park, both trips were good value and I would recommend them. You could also arrange trips yourselves to save a few pounds as there are plenty of places in Analipsi or Hersonissos that offer excursions too.

There is a land train that runs into Hersonissos, it costs €10 for each adult, children are cheaper. The Train stops outside Stella Village and it is lovely scenic ride into Hersonissos.

We took a taxi into Hersonissos from Stella Place, a return journey is €24.00, we walked around Hersonissos harbour and treated ourselves to a fabulous meal at LaScala . If you like fresh fish and authentic Greek food treat yourself to a meal at LaScala.

Practical hints and tips

Our son had a tummy ache before we left the UK, a few days after we arrived we needed to call out the emergency doctor via reception, the doctor came straight out and the care we received was first class. Stella Palace reception team arranged a taxi to fetch the prescriptions and in total the cost of the taxi and the medication was €20.00. A doctor visits Stella Village which merges into Stella Palace twice a day so if you need medical assistance you just need to go to Stella Village reception and you wait in turn to see a doctor.

You cannot flush toilet paper down the toilets in Greece, so take a pack of nappy sacks, it’s just easier to put the used toilet paper in a nappy sack before putting it in the bathroom bin.

Ibuprofen is very expensive, €5.00 for 16 tablets so remember to take plenty with you just in case.

There are plenty of sun beds but if you find that you like a particular spot by the pool of your choice you will need to get up early to secure it.

There is a small private beach with sun beds and there is also a public beach further along that you can use too

The award for the most prepared holiday maker who takes everything you can possibly think away with her goes to ‘Superglue Pru’ who saved the day by sticking a flower back onto a flip flop, go girl go !!!!!

On the day of departure you need to check out of your room by 12 noon, you can extended this until 5pm for a charge of €50.00, if you do not want to do this or it’s not possible don’t worry because you can use a shower room free of charge.

There is a well stocked supermarket which is located in Stella Village.

Please remember that Stella Palace and Stella Village are on the same site, guests staying at Stella Palace can use all of the facilities at Stella Village, but guest staying in Stella Village can only use the pools at Stella Palace but they cannot use the bars or restaurants.

Stella Palace is of a much higher standard than Stella Village.

I would not hesitate to recommended Stella Palace and would definitely return

Room Tip: There did seem to be a lot of people requesting alternative rooms so that ovedrlooked one of the 3 p...

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at the Stella Palace and it was great! the food was varied in the main resturant with a theme most evenings (Italian, Greek, Fish, Asian) which rotate weekly. At each meal there is a vegetarian section, cretan, specials and mains. The deserts are spectacular both visually and taste. You have access to the Gourmet restaurant (different menu on different days) and also the Asian Menu once during your stay (If you don't like the gourmet you can request to use the Asian twice)

As you can use all the facilities (except restaurants) of Stella Village there are 7 pools, however unfortunately the "Towel brigade" are in operation at about 6am, and although we hated to do it, we had to join in to get a chair. (it helps to team up with other couples).

The rooms are very basic and not the biggest however are adaquate for the time spent in them. Whilst there is a fridge and hairdryer there is no ironing equipment. They are kept immaculate though by the maid service who are very friendly. Unfortunatley I was ill (something I picked up prior to holiday or on the plane) and our maid enquired of my health every day and when I needed an impromptu sheet change was very accomodating.

All the staff were friendly, reception, restaurant waiters, bar staff etc.

Whilst the kids clubs seemed to be bery popular with the children in our party (2 x 3 year olds + 6 year old) the adult evening shows were very poor and loud. Thankfully all except one took place in the auditorium in stella village and finished about 11-11:30pm.

there is a doctor inattendance most days at 1pm and 6 pm. If you visit them you need to ensure that you take your heath insurance details and passport. . (EU card only covers you for Heraklion hospital A&E). However I can only extend praise on the doctors and Cretan Medi-Care who after diagnosing me had me on a drip within an hour( they organised a car to collect me) and dealt with all the admin. We only had to pay the excess. If the chemist next door was open they woudl have got our medicines from them, however the hotel reception have a facility where you give them the prescription and they fax it through to the local pharmacy who deliver it. (We had our's within 1 1/2 hrs). Prices of medicines are equal if not slightly cheaper than the UK.

the hotel gardens and pool areas are kept immaculate and if you venture into Analipsi you will find a range of shops from tourist souvenir shops, a traditional linen shop in which you can watch the owner making items on her loom, taverna's (tourist and local), restaurants, supermarkets, car/bike rentals and tour stands. If you want to go to Hersonissus take the local road train whilch takes between 45 mins and 1 hr. it's EUR 10 per adult and EUR 6 children, or alternatively you can take a taxi. Hersonissus is modern and very lively at night but is very nice to go for a walk round, a meal and to visit a few bars. (shenanigans and lascala were particulary good)

we really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate in going back in a few years time.

Stayed here as a family of four (2 children 16 and 8). Our room was 620 overlooking the top pool. No complaints with the room - modern furnishings, spacious (2 bedrooms) and fantastic pool view and terrace. Cleaned daily to a very high standard. Pools and surrounding areas are lovely, again very clean and well maintained. Food was of a good standard - plenty of choice and what you would expect from 4* all inclusive. The Thomas Cook kids club was very good and my daughter enjoyed all the sessions she went to. My only moan would be the extra charges for the themed parties - I understand there was food and treats provided but shoudn't that be in with the all inclusive as if not eating pizza and chips at the party they would be eating it at the restaurant? The Family World reps Jen and Camilla were fantastic - very friendly and welcoming and providing activities if you wanted to join in. The Asian restaurant is really nice - it would of been great if you could eat here more than once in a 14 night stay.

The negatives were the evening entertainment was very poor - the worst we have come across at a 4 star hotel. Run by the animation team - miming to songs, comedy sketches (quite often not suitable for children to watch). There was also bingo (but this cost 10-20 euros with the promise of a 'big' cash jackpot which was actually 40 euros). The animation team were not as friendly around the pool etc. as at other hotels we have been to and we often felt as though we did not really know what activities were being run each day.

2. My other gripe was also the AI drinks - limited to local brands which often appeared watered down. Also the use of flimsy plastic glasses at the bar - both during the day and at night. I understand glass is not safe around the pool during the day but hard plastic tumbler style glasses would of been much nicer to drink from particulary in the evening! Note that AI finishes at 11pm each evening.

But overall a nice family hotel. We wouldn't return here but would recommend it pointing out the negatives (in our view) above.

Enjoyed 2 weeks with my husband, 2 sons (9 & 13) along with 2 other families of 4, each with teenagers 26th July-9th Aug'13.
Rooms: Ours was older (594) which had a slightly damp smell on arrival. The toilet was screwed on with wooden blocks - definitely not a great first impression and not to the standard we have enjoyed in previous hotels. However, it was ideally positioned away from any noise from bars / entertainment. Standard family rooms have essentially 2 rooms - one leading into the other. Ours had twin beds then through to a double which led out to the balcony. Our friends had a room overlooking the pools near the restaurant which was similar but went from a double to a twin then onto the terrace. Rooms available till 12 on day of departure but you can pay to keep them on if available.
Entertainment: We did bingo on the first night but learned our lesson! 10 euro's a strip - won the house and it was only 40 euro's! We didn't really watch the hotel entertainment in the ampitheatre as much of it was similar to what we'd seen in other hotels. We preferred to sit and chat (and have a drink) with our friends. Ampitheatre is a little anti-social we thought. Fire show was hotel entertainment at it's best. Najid and Bea were really pleasant. Zulu can be a little irritating but means well and the chief animator didn't speak to us in two weeks - he definitely seems more comfortable with the non-British guests. Thomas Cook girls Jen and Camilla were just lovely. Also recommend swimming lessons with Grace. We watched a few children really improve with her help and encouragement. For teenagers - pizza and internet night on a Monday night with the Thomas Cook girls is a must. 10 Euro's and they get to meet others their age.
Pools & Sunbeds: Some get up early but there always seemed to be beds available. They're all very comfortable. Towels available from reception for a deposit but most use their own. Pools are faultless. Kostas and Mattias in the bottom pool bar (complete with swim up bar) are great guys. Also must mention Chris and Daniel who both do a fab job. Much of the time we literally had the pool to ourselves. Definitely no overcrowding amazing for July /August. also a fish spa and massage area just next to the pool.
Beach: Quite small but pleasant. Sandy. Busy at times but meals time quieter and always beds available (free). Concrete wall has been built to break the waves so it's very calm and you can walk out. Great for the children. Lovely breeze.
Food: Not a single complaint from any of the 12 in our party - fresh pizzas, traditional Greek, Kids section nice selection of salads. Beautiful desserts. If anything could let it down, it would be the lack of variation on the snack front for those that don't want to venture to the restaurants for lunch or have missed breakfast. Literally just cheese and ham rolls / cakes every day. Asian Retaurant was amazing although we weren't too keen on the other a la carte restaurant. Can use each once during your stay.
The planes do pass over the hotel enroute to the airport and they can be quite frequent - however, when you do notice them, the noise is passed within 30secs and it really isn't going to spoil your holiday!
Stella village sits at the beach side of the hotel so you pass through the shared pirate pool / shop area to access the sea front. Stella Village is nearly all French guests.
Analipsi: About a 10 min walk to the centre of the village. Not much there really. A few shops and bars but enough to have a wander round if you need a change of scenery. Nearest shopping town is Hersonnisis 12-15 euro's in a taxi. Very busy main shopping rd so not recommended for those with young children - although you can get off it and that's more pleasant.. oh and there's a McD's there too!!! Overall, a great holiday. Beatiful hotel and lovely staff. Not the pull we've had back to other places but would definitely consider returning - particularly as the child price is to 17.
