We spent a week at the Aeolian Village in early October; having already stayed with Neilson in Lemnos earlier this year our expectations were high. The Aeolian Village offered good value for money, with all the usual Neilson perks of inclusive watersports, a full activity programme and a pleasant array of food choices. The hotel itself was pretty basic, offering simple accommodation. The staff were helpful, but possibly because it was near the end of the season, somewhat lacking in enthusiasm. The beach was a short walk across a quiet road from the hotel complex, and offered an excellent selection of watersports equipments. Somewhat disappointing was the fact that many of the staff were using the equipments, limiting the availability to paying guests. The conditions were mixed, meaning the wind was often too light for decent windsurfing, but did offer some great opportunities for wakeboarding instead. Having had sailing and windsurfing instruction previously with Neilson, the level of instruction this time around was lacklustre, with little actual instruction and more just a box-ticking exercise according to the RYA syllabus. The spa offered some great treatments as expected with Elemis, but the actual spa area was small, cramped and dingy. Many reviewers had commented on the great location being close to the 'town' of Skala Eressou. Don't be fooled, this is a quaint village, taking around 15 minutes to walk to, but other than a few restaurants on the waterfront there's...We spent a week at the Aeolian Village in early October; having already stayed with Neilson in Lemnos earlier this year our expectations were high. Overall a good value week, especially for those wanting an active holiday, but it was lacking in a few areas.More
