The PROS: I can't say enough about the courtesy and professionalism of every staff member we came in contact with. The restaurant was superb, the packed box lunch for a Denali trip was reasonably priced and of good quality and ready for us before we left. There are at least 3 different types of cabins here, know what you are comparing. We got the middle level cabin: a small standalone with an ensuite (bathroom, not kitchen). This is more expensive than the "dry" cabins, and less expensive than the "crow's nest" newly purchased cabins higher up the hill. The CONS: there were several dark hairs in both of our bed's sheets. We HOPED that they were just packing too many sheets in the washer and dryer as we were too tired on arrival, and everything else looked clean otherwise. One of the two lightbulbs in the room (a dual-bulb sconce) was empty, so there was only one lightbulb for the room, but this was summer, and light was not really an issue except for a few hours before 7:00-ish. The sconce on one of the bulbs was cheap, cloth, and had dry rotted, leaving the shade to hang down below and almost touching the now bare bulb. This looked very tacky. Then when I pulled the shades back, the entire curtain ripped from the wall, falling to the floor. We told a passing staff about the issues, who told us not to worry, we wouldn't be charged for it, as it was a known problem with the curtain. The screws had loosened the wall mortar, leaving round holes that would need anchors to set them back up. The next day, neither the lamp shade nor the curtains were fixed, housekeeping leaving the curtain lying on the floor where it had fallen the day before.
Overall, any of the three issues would have been acceptable for an average rating, even at the $160 price per night for this time of year, but all 3, and none fixed after reporting it made we wonder about the hairs and the sheet washing. Upkeep is clearly lacking on a place with a lot of potential. I'm hoping this was a short staffed week, as my friend had a great time last year with none of the issues above. I feel certain that they would have provided a new set of sheets had we complained, which we should have, but they also need housekeeping and maintenance oversight to prevent this from occurring. I would still give them another try. The location was really convenient, and again, the staff were all very friendly and helpful.

We recently stayed in the standard cabins at the salmon bake. The accommodation was two double beds, plenty of drawer space, an en suite bathroom, and for some reason a kettle. Apart from the kettle there was nothing to allow you to make either tea or coffee, and on enquiry no member of staff was able to either give or sell us anything to drink by using the kettle!
The beds appeared clean, and were very comfortable, BUT - do not accept cabin number 2. Cabin 2 is attached to the toilets and showers used by the residents of the budget cabins, and is only separated from these by a thin wooden wall. Sleep is unlikely with some of the residents up until late, and if you are intending to take a bus trip into Denali you may need to be up before 5 a.m.

Room Tip: Don't take cabin number 2

Do yourself a favor. If there is live music, go elsewhere. The only thing worse than a sound guy who has no idea what he is doing is a sound guy that thinks the only way to make awful sound better is to make it insanely loud. I've never seen bands on stage give a sound guy more dirty looks in my life. That entertaining novelty was the only saving grace of the evening.

We have just spent two nights here in the one bedroom apartment above liquor store. I was worried after reading previous reviews about the facility but the apartment was well presented and clean. As we were two couples travelling we had a choice of two sofa beds in lounge room or spare mattress which we used. This was a comfortable option if not private but worked for us. Our friends found bed to be very comfortable. Pillows were good with a couple of choices. Limited kitchen equipment, only 3 drinking glasses provided. Apartment was centrally heated. Main concern we had was that the store underneath had loud music playing until after 1.30am. We mentioned this to staff after first night and they definitely went to speak with shop proprietor but it obviously made no difference as same problem occurred last night.

Room Tip: For best amenities I would go with one bedroom apartment

We stayed in the budget cabins. 2 double beds in a cabin, and shared facilities along the verandah. The cabins were clean and cosy, and the facilites clean. Everything worked, and we had everything we needed. Had to move around outside to get a sufficient signal for the wifi, but that proabably just depends on which cabin you are in. There are more delux cabins if you need them, but we were happy.

Reception staff were very friendly, and helped with our questions about how to get to and around the park. Shuttle bus to the park if you need it. Shops and eating options next door.
