This fabulous, spacious villa is situated in close proximity to good tavernas and opposite a beautiful beach with easy access to the clear waters of the Agean.
The villa has a panoramic view across the bay towards Elounda. The owners, Lucia and Costas could not have been more welcoming, kind and helpful. We were well looked after with daily cleaning and regular linen changes (thank you Eleftheria).
The villa is very well equipped and homely. L and C have really thought of everything including ^plug in* mosquito repellents and plug adapters. There are a variety of well- designed outside spaces / garden areas to relax in, and the pool is ideal for cooling off in.
Buses to Agios Nikolias stop opposite the villa. We used this service regularly to explore the area including trips to Heraklion /Knossos; Kritsa; Elounda and Plaka, as well as Agios itself. There are 2 car hire companies next door if this is your preference.
We really enjoyed our stay here and strongly recommend it. We are looking forward to returning in the near future.
I stayed in Sea Breeze Villa for 7 nights with my husband and mum. After booking and prior to the stay, communication with the owners (Lucia and Costas) was very good. They confirmed that they would meet us at the villa on arrival from the airport and greeted us with a home-made carrot cake (very tasty) and other food staples (bread, butter, home-made jam, water, tea etc.); Lucia then gave us an informal guide of the villa and its surroundings.
The property is accessed off the main road through Istron, so is easily found, with great views over the sea. The place is equipped with everything you need (well fitted kitchen with utensils, comfortable furnishings, lots of storage space in the bedrooms, air conditioning, beach/pool towels, hair dryers, toiletries, Wi-Fi, plug in mosquito repellents, plug adapters and flat screened TVs). The owners also use the villa during the winter months, so there are a lot of their personal possessions, which makes it more homely and interesting.
The outside space was comfortable with loungers, a covered garden area with table and chairs, a large table to eat at and of course the pool. The panoramic views from the terrace off the master bedroom were particularly enjoyable. There is a maid service each day, with the towels and sheets being changed once during our stay. There is a supermarket almost directly across the road and a bakery, several bars and tavernas within a 10 minute walk. So if you just want to chill out with minimum sightseeing, there is no need to drive. There is also a popular beach across the road, with the walk down not too steep. There is some road noise, but the villa is set back approx. 50 metres from the roadside and at a higher level therefore didn’t really bother us.
I would not recommend the villa to anyone who has mobility issues as there is a fairly steep drive, with a flight of steps from the drive to the villa. As the property is set over 3 floors, there are inevitably internal staircases. I would not recommend the villa to anyone with small children either, as the design is such that there is openings next to the sunbathing/seating areas (to afford light to the lower floor) which could be a hazard to little ones if you don’t keep an eye on them, in addition, there are no railings along part of the terrace walling and to the steps, which for sensible adults should not be a problem. The swimming pool doesn’t have a children’s area, however, there is a family pool and bar with seating /sunbathing areas directly across the road next to the supermarket.
Lucia and Costas were great hosts and wanted to make sure that we were happy with our stay. During the week Lucia also brought us a home-made spinach pie. We also met the neighbours, Willie and Liz and their very forward cat, ‘Lady Grey’. In conclusion, the villa was ideal for us (albeit a week went too quickly) and the only thing that would stop us from going back anytime soon, is that we enjoy experiencing different places each time, although this villa would be high on the agenda should we decide to visit Crete again.
