The hotel itself is nice. The bungalows are situated in a beautiful garden. The rooms are clean and tidied up every day. However some of the rooms are very small; we occupied two rooms - one in the main building and one bungalow. Both rooms were really small with very limited space for clothes and personal things and no space for suitcases at all.
The food is reasonable. Dinner consists of one menu. We were safisfied, but those who are used to many courses buffet meals would be dissapointed. Breakfast is served in the main building, while dinner is served in the taverna on the beach.
The staff is polite and friendly, but do not expect any extra effort: one member of our family has walking problems after both knee-joint replacement. We repeatedly asked for changing the room on the first floor for any room on the ground floor (in order to avoid the stairs), but we were always politely refused. The reason was that the hotel was full. Yes, of course, it would mean to switch maybe several rooms, but it would not be impossible...
The beach is very nice and clean, the sunbeds are for free, but the access to the sea is steep - not suitable for little children and disabled persons.
The surroundings of the hotel is nothing special. We travelled through the whole Crete during the last two years and the southern coast east of Irapetra is the least interesting part with plastic greenhouses and reeds. In the village itself there is nothing except three small supermarkets and two car rentals (thanks God for them!).
Our final evaluation is mediocre and next time would definitely choose another place.

The two of us work pretty bonkers city jobs and we realised that we both had a chance for a week off with a weeks notice. The only aim was to chill out for a few days and we plumped for Coriva beach which in the end fitted us really well. We grabbed a rental from Heraklion and just drove down, it took a few hours but is a nice drive.

The accomodation is clean and comfortable, but I would say basic/not fancy. The food was very simple stuff but left me feeling pretty healthy. Breakfast was continental buffet style, evening we went off the menu which meant fish/greek salads/lamb chops. On the whole the hotel was very comfortable and the staff are really friendly.

We really used it as a base and drove out every day to to something (historic, beach, town, mountain etc..). For nights out (there is not much local life) the bus into Ierapetra was a few Eur and very good and a taxi back was super easy (~25Eur?).

I liked that we could have breakfast (basic but decent continental buffet) and then run down for a swim in the sea before the days outing and then similarly, jump out of the car in the evening, get a swim & a beer as the sun went down. Some people might not like the pebbly beach but it didn't make a lot of difference to me. Nice sandy ones are a short drive away (Green beach, go East :) ).

When we went, the place seemed to be very full of ageing Germans. They were a pretty friendly bunch, seemed to drink a lot of raki and grin and wave a lot. They were all asleep by 11.30.

I would go back, it was a relaxing, very easy holiday. Personally, I would not do it without a car.

I went at the beginning of May after searching for hours for hotels to stay in on Crete. Within 5 minutes of finding Coriva we booked the room because the photos are amazing but they don't do it justice it's so much better when you get there! Everyone is exceptionally friendly and the taverna on the beach fed us very well each night. I've got so many memories I will cherish for years to come and I thank the staff for making them possible. I will certainly be going back!

Great location, isolated from routists and noise, fantastic staff, right on a beutiful super crystal clear black pebble beach. The restaurant they own had excellent food. Highly recommended, would easily stay again when in south crete.

We have stayed in Coriva beach for a week in late september(warm sea, less tourists). The position of the hotel is very good, nice well-kept garden, pool and access to the beach (which is beautiful). Rooms are quite spacioius, cleaned every day, our room smelled of cigarettes a little bit. Rooms in the main building on the opposite side are facing a fairly busy road. Breakfast was also very good, one can take whatever he/she wants from varied menu. (nice view from the terrace). Dinners were a little bit worse than breakfasts and quite monothematic.
Koutsounari is a romantic village. Once you there I definitely advise to visit local waterfalls and surrounding hills (10km trip). I can also recommend Taverna Asteria (almost the highest point of the village) for its good and cheap souvlaki, magnificent view and hospitable owner.
It is also necessary to rent a car because thist part of Crete is the prettiest. You can rent a car from nearby Jiannis, but send your girl first :-) he would make a discount.
Overall very good location and hotel, but do not stay the whole time at one place.

Room Tip: In the main bulding - seaview.

Very beautiful, Cretan style, with air-conditioning, near a lovely clean and quite beach. Being there can be compared to staying with friends, who do their best to make you fill yourself at home. . There is also a tavern right in front of it at the beach, with home-made food and very nice personel. The best place for quiet rest and family vacation.

I spent the most amazing fortnight in early August at this lovely hotel and its amazing location on the beachfront. The staff of the hotel was very friendly and caring and they satisfied all my needs. Last but not least, the Greek tavern which serves traditional Cretan specialities and belongs to the hotel was excellent, both in service and quality of food. The location of the tavern provides breathtaking scenery as it is located on one of Europe's best rated beaches on the Libyan sea. I would happily recommend this to all my friends and relatives.
