“A big luxurious hotel with excellent service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2012

My husband and I stayed at this hotel the last 4 days of October 2012.
Although the hotel was preparing to close for the season, everything was working perfect.
The restaurant was offering excellent breakfast and dinner, in great varieties, in big buffet settings.
The personell was very helpful and pleasant.
We enjoyed very much the wonderful views from our terrace,
Our room was very big and nicely decorated. One day they forgot to service it, but we did not mind.
We definately think it is a wonderful place to stay for vacation, as it offers everything, from pool, spa, beach etc.

This was a late break for a week in October, the weather was glorious for us, 23°-27° and a gentle breeze. It is billed as a 5* hotel, it may have been when it was built as a Hilton hotel in 1976, but falls short of that now. 3* in our opinion. However, the room was comfortable with air con, good bathroom, although it could do with updating. The rest of the hotel could also be spruced up and looks tired and worn. We had a one way transfer, which dropped us at the bottom of a steep drive - my husband uses a walking stick! We got a taxi back for less than a transfer cost, bookable at the hotel or the mini mart a short walk away, you can also book bus tickets here to Corfu Town, for 10c less than on the bus. It is only 5 minutes away from the airport, and in fact our room overlooked the runway. Fortunately, I love planes! A short bus ride takes you into Corfu town, where there is a lot to do and see, and you can go on from there to other places by bus also. At the time we visited, there were few organised coach trips, as it was late in the season. We could see Mouse Island from the hotel, and we walked a lot, over the causeway and also round country roads, + to the little monastery. The food was good, varied and plentiful, buffet style for both breakfast and dinner, there was something for everyone. The reception staff was mixed, one female and a male were unhelpful, but two Maria's - one blonde, one brunette, could not have been more helpful Such a contrast. The hotel beach is accessed by a venuncular railway, otherwise it would have been a steep climb, you are supposed to pay euro 7 for beach umbrella and loungers for the day, but I parked wherever I could see an unused one. I felt it was steep when the hotel advertises the beach as part of its package. All in all, a lovely break, quite different from our last trip to Corfu in 1968 - time moves on. Restful and relaxing.

Room Tip: One side of the hotel overlooks the runway (us), but as it was late in the season there weren't...

My partner and i (both in our early 20's) visited Corfu Holiday Palace in July, overall it was an enjoyable, relaxing week - with only a few negatives! Obviously, being close to the airport the transfer was only about 5 minuets which was great. We arrived at the hotel late at night - we were dropped off at the end of the road by the transfer and left to carry our bags up the driveway (its not too far but i wouldn't recommend it if you have walking difficulties). We were pleased with the spacious entrance and reception area. We checked in easy peasy and went off to find our room.

ROOM - We optioned for the sea view with a balcony - our room was spacious, clean, had aircon and lots of wardrobe space. The only negative was the 'double bed' which was actually two singles pushed together. The room wasn't modern but at the same time wasn't dated either - but who goes on holiday to look at the bedroom interiors all day??

FOOD - We were on a half board basis. Like most hotels there was a large selection of food for breakfast ranging from cold meats - fruit - cereal - full English. I can't really fault the food at breakfast as we always left full and satisfied. The only negative was that the staff were quite slow on cleaning the tables for the next guests and we constantly had to ask for tea and coffee. Dinner was okay.. the salad bar was great and the puddings were delicious. There were a couple of nights where i didn't like any of the main course options and we had the same problem again with drinks as it was table service. My only major issue with 'feeding time' was the other holiday makers... Some people are SO rude! They had no consideration for other people around them who are trying to have a leisurely meal. They would push in the que, take all the food and grab everything like it was going out of fashion!

POOL & BEACH - Another holiday maker issue was the 'sun bed hoggers' who would pop their towels on the bed just in case they fancied sitting on it at some point during the day. Because of this problem the whole week we didn't have a chance to sit by the pool. I tried to speak to reception and the pool staff but they didn't help me. So instead we had to pay for sunbeds on the beach - about 7 euros per day. The beach was a mixture of sand and pebbles but it was nice and quiet and the water was clean and clear. The best thing about the beach was the planes - it was pretty much by the end of the runway and we had a lot of fun watching. It was also a lot of fun to walk along the beach to the end of the runway and stand directly underneath the planes. The beach bar was great for a lunch snack - the sandwiches were big and the staff were friendly. We loved the Starbucks cafe - the staff were great and was a fab place to sit with a drink and watch the sun go down.

LOCATION - Very quiet location although it's very easy and cheap to travel about on the local buses. I would definitely recommend going into Corfu Town - its very pretty with lots of little streets full of shops, restaurants and cafes. We spent a day at Aqualand which was lots of fun and only about an hour on the local bus. If you are looking for nightlife this is not the place for you! There are a few restaurant/bars on the main road which were ideal for a quiet drink and the hotel bar was nice too.

HOTEL - We liked the hotel although there seemed to be a lot of dead and unused space. For example the children's play area which very run down could be used for an additional sunbed area. The staff were friendly but were a little slow on service. Food was good although a little boring after a week. Overall we had a really nice holiday but wouldn't return to this hotel.. mainly because we would like to visit another area of Corfu. Our traveling was made easy and simple as we booked though Olympic Holidays - i would definitely recommend booking a holiday with this company!

Room Tip: Sea view with balcony on the top floor

My husband and I just returned from a weeks stay in this hotel on a half board basis. The area in general is very run down, just like the hotel. It was definitely a 5 star hotel when it was built which looks to have been about the same time they built the pantheon! The rooms are not very clean and so dated. The bedding was scratchy and uncomfortable. The pool was gorgeous and we really enjoyed spending the warm days by the pool. When the wether was bad there was not a lot to do at the hotel but Corfu town is a short, cheap and easy bus ride away and definitely worth the trip.

Then there was the food. Absolutely awful. There was a big selection but everything was just incredibly cheap and bad quality. Cheap cuts of meat not particularly well cooked, oily and quite unappetising to be honest. Even the cereal was cheap and tasted synthetic, and something as simple as a cup of coffee was terrible! Also the Starbucks that's advertised everywhere was closed for the season and the sushi restaurant was only open for dinner, wasn't included in the half board and was extremely expensive. The view from the restaurant is spectacular.

The staff were quite abrupt and rude which for the first few days we were there made us think it was just a cultural difference, but once we ventured out into Greece a bit more and discovered that the Greek people were generally very hospitable and friendly we realised that the staff were infact just a bit rude!

If you're just looking for somewhere to use as a base then it would be ok I suppose but don't eat here! There are some amazing places in town. You're money would be much better spent there!

We have just returned from a week at the Corfu Holiday Palace although weather for first few days in Corfu was torrential rain and thunderstorms, we had a brilliant holiday. The hotel was exceptional, and in a wonderful location. Food was excellent, along with the friendliness of the staff.Everything is on your doorstep here, from beaches to Corfu town. One week was too short to stay in this hotel and we are looking forward to returning next year.

Room Tip: The garden rooms are spacious and furnished to a high standard, however you do not get any day light...

Got a great deal on this holiday but the hotel didn't live up to every expectation, to be fair most of the staff tried very hard to please but this was marred by a few who were indifferent to the guests needs. It was obviously at one time a very opulent hotel but is starting to fray round the edges ( a little dated ) Is in need of a spruce up.
Very good local bus service to Corfu town from where you can use the local buses to travel the island quite cheaply. Some very nice places to eat but you have to go off the tourist trail find the best ones.

Room Tip: High seaview rooms are best.

Stayed at this hotel for one week starting 1ct October. Entrance, reception, public bars, lounge etc all spacious and cool.
On getting out of the lift to go along the corridor to our room it looked dated , needed lighter coloured carpet or something to give it a more welcoming appearance.
HOWEVER..wow. opened lift door turned right along the 6th floor, into second room on the left, and MY GOODNESS, what a view from the room, worth every penny of the holiday. Room was modern, clean, spacious, had two beds put together, 2 lounge chairs , table and normal bedroom furniture. lovely wooden flooring. flat screen tv, cold fridge, and large wardrobe, - outdated corridor now forgotten !!!!!!!!!!
The view is AMAZING over the pool, the sea,the distant view to mainland Greece/Albania. and all framed by the trees, and lots of greenery. Gorgeous.
The food is fine but a bit boring, thats all. very edible and you can choose from lots of different dishes, so there is something for everyone. We ate out 3 times, once at the bar at the end of the cul de sac, and twice in Corfu Town, George across the road in his Tavern very friendly as are his wife and family. tickets for the bus bought next door in the shop, all very convenient.
Bar in the evening very relaxing if a bit expensive, but if not heavy drinkers then not too bad. Pool area lovely, very quiet and plenty of sunbeds.
I think this has been one of the most RELAXING HOLIDAYS I have ever been on, so if you want it quiet during the day to relax, with Corfu Town, a 12 minute bus ride away, for a bit of pavement cafe life, and nice eating places, then this has to be the place for your holiday.
And we have travelled all over the Med, and been cruising, but although this Hotel is a bit dated and needs money spending it it, you go back home having fall in love with its charm, which you somehow can't put your finger on, you just wish you could go back as soon as you get home !!!

Room Tip: choose and ask for one on 6 or 7th floor as you have great views. We met lovely couple from Germany...
