“Tolerable for a special offer”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

This is a tired hotel which shows its age. Food was satisfactory but lacked variation. Fish served in three "different" sauces on consecutive nights all tasted the same. Staff very helpful and friendly. A "Lake view" room includes the Airport and runway on the Hotel side of the lake. Fridge empty! not stocked with water or other soft drinks as described in the hotel's own "in room" guide.
Towels and sheets changed every day. Many, the poolside sun beds broken. A "set" on the beach cost 6 euros even for guests.

Room Tip: "Lake view" includes the Airport in the foreground

Lovely area - nice hotel, fried breakfast could be better. Nice views, large rooms and bathrooms, good entertainment in the evenings. Visit to Mon Repos is recommended (birthplace of the Duke of Edinburgh). 20 - 30 mins walk from hotel. Lovely views of Mouse Island. Regular bus service into Corfu. Visited 12 - 10th May 2014.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have better views

We spend the evening with friends having a wonderful dinner at the newly opened a la Carte restaurant “Old Grill” within the Corfu Holiday Palace reminiscing the old times.

Lovely atmosphere, sumptuous appetizers and main courses along with a wide selection of wines make this place an excellent choice; either if you are staying at the hotel or you are an outside visitor.

To top it all the Maitre D’ hotel made the service a joyful experience and overall we had a memorable evening and we look forward to returning. Our special thanks go to our hosts Kostas and Antonis who are managing the hotel.

booked on a Groupon voucher, what a lovely surprise. Hotel has a very grand feeling, only 10 mins from the airport. Excellent service and spotless rooms, ours was a garden room with a meandering pool outside our patio, good selection of food, entertainment every night, even though it was early season. A half hour walk into the town of Corfu, (ten minutes on the bus), quaint cobbled streets nice little cafe's, and a M@S. The hotel has a private beach with a beach cafe (nice pizza). I would recommend this hotel to any one, families or couples, well done to all the staff for making this a fantastic holiday.

We booked a holiday deal through Broadway / Travel Zoo. Were worried by some reviews, but so glad that we went. Would have preferred day time flights, especially as on our date of return, the Gatwick flight had a long delay, due to poor visibility over the mountains. The weeks weather was mainly sunny; the transfer coach was too large to take you to the hotel doors so they drop you off at the roadside. We had a lovely spacious room, 639, lakeside view; very clean and comfy, excellent bathroom; plenty hot water; empty fridge ( which we filled with drinks from the mini mkt. over the road); there is a tv, if needed ( has few english channels ).
We spoke to a couple who had come back here again this year. They commented that the food was not quite as good as the previous year and the breakfast juices were now, not real juice. Having said that, we enjoyed a good breakfast, daily, and there was also sufficient choice at evening dinner. I was not keen on some of the sweets, so usually opted for fruit. We also enjoyed the soups, especially mushroom; but one night, when we were a bit later, the minestrone was quite watery. It was hard to find a quality, hot coffee in Corfu. Ma Cochette, in the hotel grounds, was good and had a lovely sea view. Hotel drinks are on the dear side.
We went into Corfu town a few times ( get tickets from the mini mkt., across the road, 1 euro 10 cents, each way.) One day we bought a daily pass at Corfu bus station, 5 euros, and went to see Dassia, Ipsos, then Pelekas ( for Glyfada Bay.) Also booked the Island tour, through the hotel rep., Kasiopi was stunning, also Lakones.
We wanted to see more of the island, so did not use alot of the hotel amenities - the pools looked very good and clean; the sun terrace was usually busy. Went down to the beach on the glass lift, then walked round to visit the chapel, gift shop, the took the ferry to Mouse Island, 2.5 euros and worth the visit. We did visit the basement bowling alley, but only to watch the final premiership football scores.
We walked quite alot during our week; went down to Mon Repose (Duke of Edinburgh`s birth place) and went round the museum, 2 euros. Corfu town and the Fortress, is also worth a look at night. We caught the last bus back, 10.20ish, although taxis are not too severe.
The planes did not bother us. Far from it, we regularly visited the 2 cafes at the end of the runway, watched some planes coming and going and also looked across to Mouse Island

Room Tip: Room 639, lakeside view, was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Opt for a sea view room if you w...

We got a cracking deal for a week here half board in May, staying in a Lake View room. And for the price we paid for the hotel (£300 for the two of us), it was an acceptable 2-3 star holiday.

As has been said many times, the hotel is shabby, but being slowly renovated. Our room was a reasonable size and reasonably appointed, but everything was old, scruffy and worn. Yes, it was "surface clean", but looked like it could do with a thorough going over, e.g. the floor and mirrors didn't look like they had been cleaned for weeks.

The view from the room was interesting and included the runway. In May the aircraft noise was acceptable, but it must be unbearable in the peak season.

We hired a car for the week (plenty of parking available), so didn't spend much time hanging around the hotel, but it did look quite busy around the main pool. As the lift was out of action, anyone who was unsteady on their feet would have difficulty climbing down to the beach, where they would charge you for the pleasure of hiring a sunbed anyway.

The buffet restaurant was certainly busy unless you went either very early or very late and had an atmosphere akin to a works canteen. If you're used to fish fingers and microwave meals I guess you'd be happy, but we very much looked at it as refuelling rather than a pleasant dining experience
Breakfast was disappointing. Tinned fruit, squash to drink, fake spam-like bacon, cold stagnant eggs, last nights bread, no pastries and few cakes. We did ask for some of the fresh eggs that they were cooking, but were directed to the old ones first. Only after insisting did we manage to get what we wanted.
The evening "show cooking" was a similar situation, in that you occasionally saw them cooking something, but they wanted you to eat the cold stagnant remnants before replenishing.
Most of the food was luke warm and relatively low quality although there were occasional highlights. Veg was usually cooked to mush, little Greek style food and no lamb at all during our stay. Desserts were mostly sponge with a creamy mousse type topping and mid quality ice cream.
