“Amazing!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 November 2013

My family and I stayed at the Ariti Grand Hotel in Oct 2013 and had a fantastic time!

The staff made us feel so welcome, they were very friendly and really made our holiday one to remember. In particular Nicollete and Helen from the front desk were so helpful and Liz from the hotel restaurant was great.

We had a suite on the 6th Floor - wow, the view from the balcony was amazing, our room was cleaned on a daily basis and towels changed daily. We had bathrobes and slippers and the toiletries in the bathroom were restocked daily - we were also provided with complementary water bottles on our first day.

The hotel was fairly quiet during our stay as it was the end of the season, we stayed B&B and were spoilt for choice during breakfast, there was yogurt, fruit, cold ham & cheese, juice, cakes & pastries, selection of cereals, hot breakfast – eggs, beans, bacon, sausages, selection of brown and white bread and of course tea, coffee and hot chocolate – everything was replenished very quickly.

We can’t thank Theodora, the hotel manager, enough for giving us such a memorable holiday at the recently refurbished Ariti Grand Hotel. Congratulations Theodora on creating such a warm, welcoming and truly memorable hotel. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Corfu!

Room Tip: Room on a high floor.

I stayed at the Ariti for a week with my 6yr old at the very last week of the season.
I could not fault it and I am a fussy old boot!
Seriously, having read the previous reviews I was expecting faulty towers, but I was certainly happy.
Very close to the airport and corfu town, rooms were fine, complimentary toiletries and slippers!, hairdryer and towels.
Lovely view over mountains and airport, not noisy at all.
Bar staff were lovely, as were the concierge staff.
Maids cleaned every day, supplying clean towels (those who complain are obviously the sort of skanks who leave their room a tip and expect slaves! !... also have probably not taken into account the pittance they are paid in line with the poor Greek economy!... seriously, get a life! ).

I had a great time with my son, if you are the sort of saddo who picks holes in every tiny fault then you should stay at home and look at any pros you actually get from holidays! !.... You're lives must be pretty sad!.

Cracking hotel, will go again! !

As for mosquitos. ... errrr buy a book on them and discover they are even in England! !

We stayed for a week, but we were out most of the time.

Pros
- The location is good, it's very close to Corfu Town(15 min by bus) and it's in the middle of the island so it's easy access to other beaches.
- The breakfast was very good.
- Very friendly staff.

Cons
- There is only a nearby beach but which isn't that great.
- The performance of the Wi-Fi was very bad.
- There is no direct sunlight on some of the rooms so the clothes remain wet.
- The hotel is very close to the airport and you can hear the planes if the windows are open.
- Not many restaurants in the area.

We booked a superior room but there is no such thing. Basic accommodation , terrible air conditioning, poor maid service. The majority of staff except one person, Liz, were down right rude and offensive, especially all the receptionists. It seemed as though they had gone to the Basil Fawlty school of customer service.
You can't use the pool till 11am and you can not take your own water or snacks to the pool. The pool is average and we were bitten by lots of mosquito's.
There was no entertainment bar one night which was very poor. No atmosphere and the majority of customers go to the hotel across the road at the palace hotel for entertainment and to use the pool. This hotel feels like a greek Travel lodge. Lots of greek guests, older ladies, sports teams and school trips.
Breakfast is limited, supposed to serve from 7-30am till 10am but we went down at 9-45am and mid way eating breakfast the lights were turned off, I think they were trying to tell us and others something!
Kanoni itself is just a residential suburb of Corfu Town. There were 4/5 tavernas but only 2 were serving at night. Corfu Town is only a 15 minutes bus journey costing 1.50 euros and there is no shuttle bus laid on but you don't really want to have to go into town every night.
This is really a run down hotel hiding behind the promise of a revamp (wires hanging everywhere) however no revamp will change the location or the atmosphere. it is really an overnight hotel whilst waiting for a flight. Oh and you can hear the planes even with the double glazing. It didn't bother us but if you are the least bit noise sensitive then this would be a nightmare.
We hired a car for 3 days to escape. We are very used to driving abroad, this is our 4th Greek island but we have to say this was the worst driving experience ever and were very happy to give the car back in one piece, especially to avoid the 750euro excess!
Corfu itself like the Ariti has seen better day but to be honest I think the hotel really let us down on all fronts, especially the rudeness.

Room Tip: Book another hotel.

The Location has a beautiful view while still not that far away from Corfu center.
Airplanes' noise not that annoying, still can not neglect it...
The wi-fi low performance (and often unavailability) is unacceptable.
I also consider a con that bathroom accessories (e.g. shampoo) were not refilled.
Breakfast quality is adequate.
I booked through a special offer, so I can not judge the price...

Nice warm welome on arrival at 11pm. Platter of cold food in room nice touch. Loved the dressing gown & slippers on the bed.
Woke up to magnificant view of pool, mountains & airport runway (room 515). So far so good we thought. Went down for breakfast & what a shock. One table of ham, cheese, greek yoghur, tinned pineapple & peaches. Another table of 3 choice's of cereal, croissants, french toast and dry sponge cake. The third table had 4 tureenn's with burners underneath them that obviously kept going out as on some occasions the food was not very warm. The fried eggs bounced they had been in there so long (& they didn't put anymore out till these had gone). The beans weren't very warm the sausages were tiny hotdogs & the bacon was cold very fatty & all stuck together. They didn't even provide sliced bread to make toast only white or brown bloomer loaves that were stale & only margarine no butter.
Evening dinner was the worst. Only 6 or 7 tureen's on a table, two of which had some sort of pasta & a sauce. One contained soggy under cooked chips some kind of meat dish & fish dish in the other two. No fresh veg except broccolli one day.Don't think they know what condiments are. I asked the waiter for some mayonaise & by the time I got it i'd finished what i'd got (which wasn't a lot). The deserts were a joke every single day greek yoghurt, water or honeydew melon, red jelly & some kind of spongecake soaked in something that made it soggy. There was no cutlery on tables, you have to get your own & if you forgot when you sat down to eat you had to walk back to entrance of restaurant to get them, which was quite far if you were sat at the bottom end of the restaurant. If you wanted a drink with your meal you had to flag a waiter/ress over to ask them to get you one (only 2 or 3 about) otherwise you go thirsty.
We had to have a proper cooked meal every dinnertime when we ate out so we had at laest one good meal a day (which wern't cheap).
The room was clean but very basic. Beds were comfy. Only one English channel on tv CNN news. Couldn't always get internet in room bit better if you sat out on balcony.
On the Saturday we went to reception to ask if they did currency exchange (TO WHICH THEY DIDN'T) we stood there for ages been ignored by the receptionist while she kept answering the phone. Thought this was so rude of her as usually a customer stood in front of you takes priority over answering the phone. As we turned to walk away from the desk we noticed a sign on the notice board to say dinner that evening was 6pm- 8pm instead of 7pm- 9pm no reason as to why this had been changed. Good job we saw it as we normally went down to dinner about 8 ish.
There was a wedding reception that Saturday that is why they had changed the meal times & that evening & throughout the night they taped of the bar & lounge for the wedding guests. We were furious as we are all paying guests & they had priority over us.
One day they taped off all of the pool area because of a technical fault (couldn't see anything wrong with it or work men) so not allowed to use pool all day.
The best part of the holiday was we hired a scooter for 5 days & travelled all over the island, it was amazing been out on the open roads. Be careful of resident drivers you have to have eyes in the back of your head.
The airport was not noisy at night time at all. It was a real eyeopener watching them land & take off from our balcony.
We went down to the damm one night (turn right out of hotel & walk to bottom of road) we walked to the middle of it & sat on the wall & when a plane came in to land they flew so close over the top of your head. It was amazing.
All in all enjoyable, quiet relaxing holiday. Would go back but not to the Ariti as the food lets it down very badly.

Room Tip: higher floor has view of runway.
