Mareblue Beach Resort
Reviewed 19 August 2014

Just returned from a 2-week holiday at the Mareblue Beach Resort, Agios Spyridonas, Corfu, last night. A lovely hotel, although beware mosquitos!!! Food was plentiful and good, although the restaurant is a bit of a scrum. There is always something to please every palate. Ask to book into a family suite if you can if you've got kids as these suites are more spacious then a room with bunkbeds. All-inclusive drinks aren't great - apart from the self-service soft drinks in the pool bar. The help-yourself coffee at the bar is good too. At 4pm the pool bar serves toasties and hotdogs and slices of cake - there is usually a queue. Lunch is also served at the pool bar so if you don't want to eat in the restaurant, then stay by the pool and eat fresh salads, pasta, fruit, sausage rolls etc. There is also a souvlaki bar where you can have a freshly cooked souvalaki for 1 euro. The staff are all lovely and work very hard even in the heat - when we went there was a heatwave so it really was blisterng. The kids club and animation team work really hard - there is water polo, volley ball, tennis, darts, football, and a mini kids club too. The hotel is spotless and the pool is lovely. There are too beaches close by and we can recommend the Ammus Bar Taverna - where kids can swim in the evening whilst parents relax. There is also free WiFi and the staff there are lovely. The only negative are the mosquitoes - 3 of the 4 of us were bitten mercilessly despite having repellents etc. So arm yourselves! Also the coach journey took nearly 2 hours with various drop-offs and Corfu Airport is tiny so be prepared to wait outside the terminal and queue for a while - once the queue starts moving, things work like clockwork. All in all a lovely holiday, great for famillies - there are 2 pools one of which is a chill pool for adults only. The entertainment is fine - nothing special - but the Greek Night is a must - great fun and lots of participation. The views are stunning and the whole area is lovely. Book your a la carte meal for free - the views are stunning. A lovely family orientated hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms have a/c but try and book a family suite as some of the rooms with bunk beds are quite sm...

Just back from 2 weeks with husband and two teenage boys. On arrival the hotel was everything we were lead to believe it was. Baggage was taken to our room. The room was clean and comfortable and we had a sea view. The bathroom was ok - draw back was that the shower head was half way up the wall so you could only have a hand held shower. No bath plug so a soak was out of the question.

So many things could have helped to give this resort its four stars; free safe and wifi for example. There is a charge for the room safe but it would have been cheaper to pay the excess on insurance; WiFi was 3 euros per hour, you can get this free of charge for all day if you buy a drink for 3 euros at Pyramid Bar down the beach (which was a great place to get a drink by the way).

Food was a good standard, fresh but repetitive (mind you we were there for 2 weeks).

Pool Scene - my first experience of sun bed wars: I watched people walk down to the main pool at 6.30am to reserve their sun beds. Some people reserved sun beds and parasols and didn't even turn up until 3pm in the afternoon. Some even tried to reserve them the night before. Eventually the management did put up signs saying that people were not allowed to reserve sunbeds until the pool opened.

All inclusive food and drink: Lager was watered down, wine was ok, soft drinks were cheap and cheerful. Afternoon snacks were awful; cheap hotdogs and plastic ham and cheese toasted sandwiches. All drinks at pool bar were served in very flimsy plastic cups which was ok for soft drinks but a hazard for the coffee. Lunch at pool bar was fast food; pizza, pasta, salad, fruit, chips, pasties, sausage rolls. It was worth getting dried out and walking back to the main restaurant which to be honest served lunch better than dinner! A la carte restaurant made a nice change from the evening meal. You get one free visit per room so the four of us ate their one night.

Animation team were amazing. They worked so hard and were very friendly. Thank you Didi for your hard work in particular! Great for smaller children and teenagers. Bar staff don't interact with you even if you spend money at the bar. Waiters and waitresses were good in main restaurant.

We are fortunate that we hired a car for the two weeks. We ate out about three times in total which made a nice change. Pyramid Bar and Ammus do some good traditional Greek food.

Apparently the hotel is being refurbished. Some rooms have nice wet rooms and flat screen TV's now. Maid service was good. Would I return to Mareblue? - no but loved the location so would probably go for Kassiopi.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views, Ask for a newly refurbished room. Don't get too close to the p...

We spent there two weeks with our two children and several friends. We are very satisfied.

Hotel is in very quiet area with two beaches close and with view for Pantokrator from one side and mountains in Albania from the other side. There are two swimming pools, but for families with children only one is accessible (second one is to "chill out"). Of course there is also one smaller one for younger children.

Generally food was good, rooms were clean, staff was nice (eg. we had no problems to take 4 cups of drinks each person :) ).

During the day there were different events prepared by animation team (eg. joga, darts, beach volleyball). Every evening there was an entertainment prepared by the animation team or special guests (eg. our children were very satisfied with live magician or fakir show).

Only things we were a little bit disappointed were:
- limited choice of "snacks" beetween main dishes (no fruits!)
- prices of the hotel's internet (far to expensive)

Just arrived back from a weeks stay here. First impression on arrival was lovely, great views, lovely apartment very impressed. Although having been there only a day soon discovered things were all not great. I will keep it short. All inclusive package was not worth the money. It was cheep beer in small plastic cups, i believe the soft drinks was watered down, and ice cream was so small you could probably only get 2 mouthfuls out of it.There were no spirits free, and the all inclusive finished at 11pm. Laying by the pool was like being in an episode of hidi hii!! with constant loud music and staff pestering you to play games or take part in water gym or join in on dance routine's. Kids club was not great staff did not speak great English and the entertainment was not good for my 6yr old boy. Evening entertainment was rubbish, staff were not friendly or helpful. Something that was not the hotels fault but was awful was the mosquitoes. Being near a nature reserve the mosquitoes were rife. We lost count of how many times we were bitten we looked like we had chicken pox. One gentleman counted 78 bites on his legs alone!! This hotel was definitely not worth the money.

Room Tip: The rooms were nice. we did not have a problem they were clean and spacious, and had a modern bathro...

I have just returned from the Mareblue Beach resort from a 7 day stay. The transfer was a bit scary along mountainous roads I don't know how the coaches can drive along them especially while steering with one hand and talking on the phone with the other!! Although it is worth it on arrival our suitcases were loaded on to a truck and taken to our rooms (unlike below reviews we are English this was offered to everyone on arrival) The reception staff were welcoming and friendly. The location of the hotel cannot be faulted it is beautiful with two nice beaches in short walking distances. The hotel has two pools these were kept clean I would recommend the relax pool for adults. The rooms were basic and clean although they don't clean the rooms on a Sunday not a problem for me as I only sleep there! The all inclusive was to a good standard the food was a good variety nothing to complain about. The A La Carte Restaurant is a must! one visit it part of the all inclusive package if you wish to go you again there is a charge, the food was to a really good standard and it is overlooking the sunset and sea. The hotel does have a lot of Eastern European guests who are rude and arrogant, they don't know how to queue and have no manners in the dining areas (no fault of the hotel). The entertainment team were hard working and did cater for everyone. There is a problem with mosquito's around this area but this is to be expected due to the location do be prepared with sprays etc. Overall the standard of the staff was good they were very hard working and friendly. The hotel charges for wifi although you can get it for free in the Pyramid bar and the local supermarket so I would recommend using it there! The Thomson rep Laura was amazing really informative, helpful and friendly and definitely a credit to Thomson. I would visit this hotel again and would say it is a good choice the weather is lovely and the hotel is maintained to a high standard throughout.

Just got back this morning from a 10 day break at this resort. If you wish to chill, relax away from the crowds then this is the resort for you. Very clean, food choice fantastic and the Animation Team were fantastic. Plenty to do on site but you will be out , away from the clubs so factor this in. Really recommend it and would go again.

Beautiful setting in one of the quietest parts of Corfu, unspoilt beaches quiet surroundings situated next to the sea. Although the all inclusive price is expensive the premium for the location is worth every penny. Takes about an 90 minutes on coach from airport if you can afford is take the taxi option around 60 euros each way

Our rooms were basic but then I don't really want to do anything but sleep in my room...I do understand there are better quality refurbished rooms which im pretty sure you could request in advance seems like luck of the draw, the area is beautifully themed with James Bond naming conventions.

The staff work exceptionally hard they are polite and will help you with anything you ask, the inference in reviews there is a bias towards eastern Europeans is utter rubbish...This is a cosmopolitan hotel Poles, Germans, Russians, Belgium etc...we too arrived after 11:00PM our cases were taken to the room I do agree they could improve on the service for late flights, the local shop just outside the front gates stays open until 11:30pm-12:00am.

The entertainment team is a hilarious bunch of misfits who will keep you amused with games and chat they work only around the main pool, the Adult only pool is one of the quietest tranquil settings you could wish for. Evening entertainment is average but they work hard and they do there best think Butlins rather than amateur dramatics.

Things I didn't like, WIFI at 35 euros per week per device is poor they need to address this, there are 3 bars a stones throw and the shop that will give you free wifi so didn't prove too much of an issue.

Fitness lovers....take trail shoes for running beautiful off road countryside, the gym is basic but has enough kit for weight training.

No regrets....Book this hotel if your going to Corfu
