“Dear nextjet200,
Thank you for your great feedback following your recent stay with us. You have been kind enough to point out the many little touches that our guests seem to appreciate.
All hotels offer a variety of new amenities (material and products) that can be duplicated easily, so any competitive advantage based on products will eventually go away. But “guest expertise” is competitively defendable, unique and permanent. This is what over years Mr. Ginis- “managed-to-establish” as guests no longer want a “product” or “service”, they want an experience, and at the heart of that experience is the “relationship”.
Thank you once more for your excellent comments and we very much look forward to have the opportunity to welcome you back again very soon.”

Spent a wonderful 10 days at Kontokali Bay. I have to agree with most of the reviews here, the beach is absolutely wonderful (for kids, too), views, gardens, food, service, personnel. Kids enjoyed the MiniClub, and Christiana playing with them. Also have to agree with other reviewers that the bungalow rooms are a bit outdated, though very clean. We were hoping to be upgraded to a family room, but I guess we were not so lucky. "Kontokali Bay" is truly a well-organized, well-managed enterprise, and in combination with warm nice sea, wonderful beach and sunny weather, makes a lasting impression. Although only 5-6 km away from Corfu Town which is definitely worth a visit, the hotel is located on a small penninsula, quiet and secluded from the hustle-bustle of the outside world.

“Dear SpecialLady24,
Many thanks for your gracious feedback. I was absolutely delighted to read that you enjoyed all aspects of your stay.
As I have mentioned in other guests’ comments, yes, we are in the process of renovating our bungalow-rooms. We have already done a number of them this year (15) and we are hoping to complete them all this coming winter.
We pride ourselves on the service and facilities we provide to our guests and this is only made possible by the great team we have at Kontokali Bay Resort and Spa. I am personally going to pass on your kind words to Christiana and we look forward to welcoming you back soon for another pleasant holiday.”

This is a wonderful hotel in a beautiful setting.
We found the staff friendly and attentive creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere which added to the enjoyment of our trip.
We were in a garden bungalow which was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was varied and plentiful with good quality fresh produce.
10 /15 min walk to the village/marina where there are a small selection of bars/restuarants. Buffet dinner available in main dining room of hotel - we ate there once - fair value for money with extensive choice, but we prefered to eat out.
Entertainment in the evening was low key which was not a problem for us but some people may find it a little quiet.
Easily the most restful holiday we've had in a long time- I hope to repeat the experience soon!

Just got back from Kontakali after a holiday with some friends. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds which are watered constantly and so are very lush and green. There are a mixture of rooms, some of which are in the main hotel and some are bungalows which are dotted around the grounds. We booked to stay in two bungalows but when we got there one of the rooms had been upgraded to a family room. The family room was gorgeous, with two bathrooms and a seperate sitting room area with two beds. It was decorated in a very modern style, looked like it had been newly refurbished and in my opinion is what you would expect from a 5 star hotel. On the other hand the standard bungalow, although clean was very dated and although not essential didn't have some of the things you may expect when going 5 star such as tea and coffee making facilities. We may have been unlucky and stayed in one of the older bungalows (I'm not sure if they are in the process of being refurbished), but from this experience I would say it may be worth paying extra for a family room. If you do opt to stay in a bungalow, I would say bear in mind this is a 5 star in Greece and not what you may expect from 5 star elsewhere in the world.

With regards to the rest of the hotel, there was very little to fault. The pool area was lovely and had a wonderful view over the sea. You just walked down a few stairs to the beach which although public only really seemed to be used by people staying at the hotel. There was also a lovely decking area which went out into the sea. You had to get down early to get a spot there but it was well worth it. The view acros the bay was lovely and you can see Corfu Town which is only about 10 minutes away by car. There is a bus you can catch just down the road from the hotel which ran every half hour but as there was a few of us we got a taxi which was 15 euros each way.

The buffet breakfast was out of this world and catered for any taste. We were only b&b but the buffet dinner down near the beach looked lovely too with lots of fresh meat and fish. There was also an al a carte restaurant in the hotel but we never ate there as it seemed quite expensive. If you don't want to eat in the hotel then there are a few taverna's about 5-10 minutes walk away and the marina is about 15 minutes walk. We ate in both places and had very reasonably priced meals. There was also a local shop
5-10 mins walk away if you want to stock up on a few essentials.

We also couldn't fault the staff who were all friendly and helpful. Even when I inquired about another room, although they couldn't satisy the request in the end, they were prompt at getting back to me and delivered flowers to our room as way of apology. All the waiters in the breakfast room were courteous and one member of staff, Spiros, never failed to greet us when he walked past.

There was a spa on site but we didn't get time to use it as we were only there for a few days. Use of the pool, hamman and sauna etc were free but you obviously had to pay for treatments. There was also a range of watersports on offer. Again, we didn't use these but we saw people going out on banana boats, pedalo's and water skiing. Another bonus was that there was free wifi in the hotel and internet access in the business centre.

All in all I would say definately go and visit the Kontokali but maybe just bear in mind that the level of 5 star in Greece might not be exactly what you would expect back home.

Room Tip: Don't book bungalow 739
