We flew out to Lesvos on the 17th May and was joined a week later by 16 of our closest friends and family to celebrate our wedding. We stayed as always at the Plaza Palace the first week we was in the hotel and the second week Vas moved us into his brand spanking new studios. His new studios are absolutely beautiful with a gorgeous bathroom and kitchen are and a lovely large balcony. You cannot fault his accommodation and as always the welcome was perfect. This year Vas, Ellie and the whole Molvalis clan really excelled in giving us the most perfect wedding reception. They decorated the pool area provided the most amazing authentic greek food, greek dancers and they topped it all off with a firework display. If you are thinking of getting married consider staying at the Plaza they will give you the most fantastic time. Thank you my friend Vas see you next year. Trace

Just returned from a week at the Plaza palace and cannot find fault with any aspect of the hotel or our holiday as a whole. From travelling on a new Thomas Cook plane, lovely transfer which although takes about 1.5 hours did not matter as we travelling in daylight and there was so much lovely scenery to take in. On arrival at the hotel we were taken to our room which by Greek standards was amazing, beautiful bathroom fully tiled with proper shower cubicle and we had hot water everyday. There was plenty of storage space and the room was excellent size. Nice balcony over looking the pool and we spent every early evening chatting to neighbours and drinking the local wine which was good and very cheap! We ate lunch a few times in the hotel and this was excellent value and very good. Cocktail 'hour' 5 - 9pm with all cocktails 3 euro's, pity we weren't there for another week so we could work our way through the list, what we did have was lovely. Further afield there were a number of excellent restaurants, reasonably prices and we didn't have a bad meal all week. Beach front was a short walk away and was also really nice and chilled. Cannot wait to return as this was the most relaxing enjoyable holiday to Greece we have ever had.

Room Tip: we stayed in 102 ground floor, which was lovely, but on talking to other guests no one complained a...

We both had a lovely holiday in the Plaza 2 studios we were the first in. Vassillis, his wife and staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble to make sure that my mum and I were happy and comfortable. The studio was beautiful, clean and with kettle etc. lots of storage space and clean bedding and towels on a daily basis. It was the first time we had stayed at Anaxos and it is lovely, laid back and we felt very safe. Everyone treated us very well. Good food wherever we went.
Thank you from Sue and Joyce xxx

The Plaza Palace Hotel is a great value family run place offering good clean and comfortable accommodation. Vassillis and his family are very charming and unintrusive. We have been going to Anaxos since 1993 and have stayed at most of the available accommodations there. We are delighted to be going back in a couple of weeks to stay again at the Plaza Palace. Pre-dinner cocktails are a bargain and then a short stroll to visit Alison at the Omega Bar for a superb mezze supper.

Room Tip: All hotel rooms are good and well located.

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Anaxos, we stopped in room 301 in the apartments, lovely room with dual aspect, spotlessly clean & even had a shower cubicle. Anaxos is the place to go for a total rest, the only music you hear is mainly Greek. The beach is great, free sunbeds if you buy a drink we used the sunbeds by the Europa Steve & his wife Maria are the best you must try the cheese burger. Eat out, where do i start every where we went the food was very good , i can't remember them all but Omega on the main road and the Grill House are well worth a try, you will know when you're at the Grill House because you will see a man with a great big smile (Vasillis). Petra & Molyvos are a must to see , only 1.60 euro on the bus. Everywhere we went you were made welcome and you were treated like family

This is proper Greece so more flights please Thomas Cook, Birmingham would be nice.

Room Tip: Rooms 301 & 305 are the best, due to some Greek builder leaving a half finished small developmen...

We all know what to expect from the smaller Greek resorts but this hotel has the thumbs up.We have visited Anaxos 11 times and stayed here twice in the last three years. No complaints at all.Stayed in the apartment block.Spacious and clean.Regular cleaning towels etc.Am I biased about this resort.YES. We go there for a chill out week.Lots of people are return visitors.Only problem now is limited availability as only two flights in a week.Tour operators take note there are lots of accomodation available.Heard a rumour Ryanair starting flights only to Mytiline next year.If you want peace and quiet,no booming music at night, good food.friendly locals this is the place.Recommend Sandaros on the top road and Aggelos on the beach front for food. All the beach front tavernas will supply free sunbeds as long as you purchase couple drinks etc. Bargain if you think what you pay at other resorts.

A typicaly Greek family hotel. Great value, great hospitality. The staff will always help you with anything you need. The plaza palace is a great way to see the real Greece. Every holiday I go to a different place and I have never said that I will go back but the Plaza Palace and the village of Anaxos has a Greek charm that most places no longer have, we will definately be back. We met a few couples that have returned to the Plaza Palace time and time again, one couple for the past 20 years.

ROOMS.
Comfortable traditional rooms, we had a studio room 305 which had a double aspect and good views. Some reviewers have said about the small shower cubicals, and its true but I am 20 stone and still had no problems showering. The shower base is standard size but the screen is a sliding concertina and very 70's looking just go with the flow it ads to the charm. We were self catering so had a full size fridge and cooking implements, not that we needed them, we only had breakfast in the room. The bed was too hard for me but that's just my preference I woke every morning with a bad back. The room has air conditioning charged at €5 a day, and a safe charged at €10 a week, it's only a small safe and it will not fit an iPad. We had a nice balcony with a couple of seats and a table. Remember that in all hotels in Greece you have to get used to Greek plumbing, toilet paper is put in a pedal bin next to the toilet and not down the toilet bowl!!! The room we had the TV as you would expect only had Greek channels on, but they did have a big tv in the bar if its a sporting event you want to watch.

POOL.
One of the best pools I have had on a holiday, its got a deep end. Most pools in hotels are only 1.4m deep at most so its great to be able to not touch the bottom. The hotel was quite full but we had no problem getting a sun shade and loungers no one reserves them because their is no need to. The loungers comfortable and not the cheep plastic type.

BAR.
A well stocked bar, with a happy hour for cocktails from 5-9. Vaz is a big Greek man and I am a burly Yorkshire man it was funny asking him for a "blow job", "sex on the beach" or a "screaming orgasm". The cocktails are €5 each but happy hour only €3. He has a selection of Greek beers at €3 a bottle 500ml. They do a snack menue which is great if you are saving yourself for an big evening meal.

GREEK NIGHT.
Previous reviewers have mentioned about the Greek night, it did not happen when we were staying, I don't know why but we were not bothered as so many local restaurants to try.

INTERNET.
Free Internet, I can't go away without my addiction to news, e mail and Facebook. I have been on holiday previousely and have had to pay £35 a week. Vas has done a great thing by making it free, in modern life the Internet is esential.

I know this is a review about the hotel but you can't talk about the hotel without mentioning the village and the surounding area and facilities.

THE VILLAGE OF ANAXOS
This is the village like Greece used to be, the village Shirley Valentine would be happy in. Loads of restaurants and beach front bars. We were in them most nights watching the sun go down. It's true there are no cash machines in Anaxos but you just have to be prepared for this. Prices vary but you can get a reasonable dinner for two with wine for under €30, and if all you fancy is some wine to watch the sun go down. 1 litre of house wine is €7-€9. A walk around the village only take 23-30 min and we found a guy milking goats, got some great photos.

LOCAL SHOPS
Anaxos has a number of small supermarkets which cater for all needs. You can find wine at €3 for 1.5 ltr and lilo's for €9 and they will blow them up. If like me you love the pool then an inflatable is a must.

BUSES
A local bus goes to Petra, Molivos and on to the thermal springs at Eftalou. The cost is €1.60 for any journey. There are 5 buses a day starting at 9.15, 10.30, 11.50, 1.30, 6.05. Petra is ten min away, Molivos 20 min and the thermal springs 30 min away. The buses are air conditioned and never busy

THERMAL SPRINGS
Well worth the trip, the bus takes you to them. We went on the 9.15am which gave us just over a hour at the springs. For €4 entrance you can alternate from the sea water to the very hot pool, well worth the experience. Take jelly shoes if you want to go in the sea the stones are sharp on your feet. If you don't have jelly shoes there is a cold shower. The hot bath is lit using small skylights and tea lights in niches in the wall.

STARLIGHT TOUR
The night we went it was overcast, but don't let this put you off. We met the boat at Petra and it sailed to Molivos to pick up more people then onto the very quaint village of Skala Sikaninen. This trip was well worth the €20 each even with it being overcast. We got two hours to get a meal, we chose the restaurant near the little church and the table nearest the church. Just be warned we went September and at the end of the season taxis back from Petra are nearly none existant and you will have to walk from the port a mile to the taxi rank if like us the pre booked taxi did not turn up.

TIPS.
Bring beach towels, the hotel will not provide them.

Watch the sun go down on the beach

Bring a ice tray from home for the drinks on the balcony.

If you don't like the cats bothering in restaurants you can get a water pistol fron the local shop, shooting them keeps them away!
