“Great holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 September 2013

my friends and I have just got back from a holiday in Amalia Apartments. Great place to stay, the rooms were a little tired but the bathroom was one of the best we have had in Greece. The room was cleaned every day and new towels most days. Skiathos is a lovely place to holiday,We found a fabulous place to eat. opposite bus number 16 named Plantanis Taverina, but to be fair all the places to eat were good. We would go again to Amalia Apartments.

Room Tip: Don't stay near the bar if possible

What a great place to stay! George & Fotis are excellent hosts, nothing is to much trouble! The Amalia is situated down a track road near to Mandraki Boutique Hotel, so is off the main rd, making it an ideal base to relax at the end of a busy day! The apartments are very well equipped to self cater should you wish to do so.The pool is great for a refreshing swim after a day of sightseeing and enjoying a cool Mythos at the bar, which is the cheapest on the island! The general decor is a bit tired, but hey you get what you pay for! We've been to many many places in Greece and the Amalia definately comes out one of the best! we have already booked for 2 holidays next year!. Well done George & Fotis a fab place and we cant wait to come back next year!

Travelled on the 28th June with Olympic holidays, we had no problems with our flights and were upgraded on our return. All reps were very helpful. Skiathos lived up to all our expectations and more.
Amalia met our needs for the week, room on arrival was not ideal as it looked out on the pool and bar, being ground floor no sitting area, not a problem when we asked to move and George came up with an apartment that was perfect, quiet and over looked gardens. The room was spacious, beds were comfortable, linen was clean and changed twice, towels changed everyday .Nothing was too much trouble for George and Otis, the few problems, no hot water being one, were soon sorted out. The track from road was dark but easily managed without a torch .Bus stop 23 a short walk.
Would recommend, expect Greek accommodation and you wont be disappointed. Jackie (dog) was great company............

Room Tip: If you want quiet, the back rooms are perfect and we looked out on the gardens.

Lovely quiet place, not too far from village or the beach. The room we had was right opposite the pool and the bar but not at all noisy as some have referenced. The beer and Ouzo was cheap, the pool although a little small was deep and spotless clean (but don't go swimming after 7 else you get told off). The beaches nearby are fabulous, with some fairly priced water sports. The buses into town are frequent and run from early morning til 1am. The local cash machine wasn't very reliable but the supermarket exchanged for a decent rate. The big bad wolf was a really decent place to eat and reasonable but some of the others a bit pricey; there are some really cheap street eats in the town too.

Ok if you want more than 2 star Self-catering then pay more and go to 4+ star hotels on the islands. If you you want very reasonably priced SC then Amalia apartments are great. The cooking equipment is basic but I managed OK to cook for family everyday. Our room was great with separate bedrooms. Beds are fine. Plenty of space in the apartment. Our lover looked the pool and bar.
Next dont worry about music from the bar. Its never loud; and when the kids and I went too bed we couldnt hear it with the shutters closed. And if you like good music and not latest chart stuff then George and Otis' eclectic choices are great (something for everyone). Pool never busy. Poolside sunbeds never busy. Set away from main road in pine forest (bring a touch) means its always quiet with no sounds of cars or the dreaded mopeds.
Overall: great people who run Amalia, good service from Olympic Holiday reps, great location, lovely island. Brill choice - will go again.

The hotel is very basic. Rooms poor. Lots of noise from the hotel behind till late
People very friendly and helpful
It's situated down a dark dirt track this makes access poor
If you want a basic room poor facilities then this is the place

Firstly - does the shower spray in one direction ? NO. Does the kitchen area have enough stuff to self cater ? NO. Is it luxuriously appointed? NO and finally did any of the above spoil our holiday ? NO !!
A gentle holiday style stroll to the shops and beech ( a bit busy in the summer) 8 euros to hire a lounger for the day. But to be honest a lovely enclosed complex of apartments with a clean pool, nice loungers (free) bar (with wifi) and shade is all you really need. The owners are very helpful and will chat to you, the gardens and the outside are constantly being improved and I think some of the previous comments are now a bit out of date. if you want soft cotton sheets and fluffy white towels, find somewhere else and pay the extra, but for families looking for a relaxing place to soak up the sun with similar other families this family run complex will take some beating. One couple we met were on their 6th visit, I would definitely go again.

Room Tip: Choose air con, its 70 euros but you will sleep better and there will be no noise when georges bars...
