“Lovely hotel”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

Stayed for 1 week at this lovely well run hotel. From the minute we walked in to the minute we left the staff were friendly & helpful. The grounds are beautifully maintained & very pretty. Our room was spacious for 2 people & provided with clean towels daily by our lovely maid. The pool area was clean with plenty of sunbeds though we went to a different beach each day. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice something for everyone. If I had 1 gripe it would be for the hotel to invest in tea pots for the tables as it becomes a little tiresome having to ask frequently for a refill. The bus service is excellent each stop at a different beach which are spotless & views to die for. The conductors are all too willing to help jumping off the bus as soon as it stops to assist with pushchairs well done skiathos for such a brilliant service which runs roughly every 15 minutes. There are some bars & restaurants near the hotel but if you want lots of nightlife it's definitely not for you. It is very peaceful & laid back. A restaurant I really must recommend if you can find it as we just found this by chance is the fabulous family taverna maistrali. The food & service is 1st class. Get off at bus stop 16 walk back to the platanias restaurant walk up the dirt track to the right of the restaurant you will see it to the left at the top of the road. Can recommend the bar agustera very friendly & welcoming. The staff are lovely. All in all a good holiday

We chose the Mandraki Village Hotel for our holiday this year as we had been here 5 years ago.

As most reviews mention, the breakfast choice is vast & very well presented. The only place that I have ever seen a better choice is in the Maldives.

The rooms are very nicely decorated with big lamps & modern distressed looking furniture and we found the bed very comfortable. My only critisism is that there is a desparate lack of practical furniture in which to put your clothing.......

To explain, the wardrobe space was barely adequate for 2 people sharing a room for 2 weeks, so once we had crammed as much as we could into the wardrobe, the remaing clothing had to be put on to the shelves in the wardrobe. There were only 2 shelves at eye level the two other shelves were either too low or too high. There were only 2 small drawers (under the wardrobe).

We were allocated a triple room for our first week (603) but then were moved (at the hotels convenience) to a double room (601).

There was potential in both rooms we stayed in for lots more practical drawer space, by having bedside cabinets with drawers instead of just a lamp table, or the dressing table could have a set of drawers underneath instead of it just being wasted space, and the massive lamp with a shade as big as a wheelie bin just got in the way.

The bar area is very nice but no one was using it because the price being charged for drinks was far in excess of the other bars in the resort.

The room was cleaned to a very high standard as were the public areas of the hotel.

The gardens are pretty and paths swept every day.

All things considered though, I would stay here again as it is the better of the 3 other hotels that we have stayed at in this resort.

Just returned from a week's holiday in this hotel. My only problem was it just wasn't long enough! I felt I wanted to write a review just to prove I'm not an old winge-bag after my review of the Sevgi in Kalkan. This hotel was such a contrast to last year. The staff were attentive, the room was lovely, had everything we needed, including toiletries, a fridge for our drinks and even slippers! The pool area was gorgeous, so spacious and peaceful. Loved this holiday and hope to return to this hotel next year. Back to Kalkan in September, but not to the Sevgi - we've had a taste of luxury now!!

Hotel is built like a mini-village with buildings with 1 or 2 stores. We stayed on a standard double room which was spacious enough for two persons and 1 infant.
The child crib was already placed in room prior to check in.
We also requested a kettle at the front desk and we received one immediately.
Peoples from front desk and bar are very friendly and eagerly to help.
The yard is huge with kids playground and a pool. Breakfast is very good and you have a lot from what to choose.
I'll recommend this hotel to everyone.

Just returned from 2 weeks holiday with friends and had a wonderful time. We have had many holidays in Greece staying in just about every type of accommodation but this was most certainly different and we loved the 'quirky' unusual feel of the hotel which is set in beautiful surroundings. The whole feel of the site is one of tranquility. The gardens are beautiful and well tended and the accommodation set in 2 storey 'blocks' seems unobtrusive, painted in their pastel shades. Rooms are extremely well appointed and include a small fridge, free 'safe' and superb air conditioning. The bed was as good as I sleep in at home! Staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast (included in our deal) was served in the light airy dining room/bar area and included food to suit all tastes, there was a huge buffet of Greek/Continental/British food including hot and cold dishes. Tea & Coffee were served by friendly waitresses and the whole experience was relaxed and professional. The upstairs restaurant is excellent and to be thoroughly recommended. If you can, book for a thursday when there is a superb duo playing guitars and providing wonderful background music. Its a little more expensive than the average Skiathos restaurant but well worth it. (We did it twice!). The hotel is a 7 or 8 minute walk to the most incredible beach and whilst I am not normally a beach person this beach has got just about everything. If you can, go snorkelling and you will see a lot of wonderful sea life, I saw a lot of unusual fish including a couple of different species of flatfish (One was a sole I believe) as well a lot of more familiar species such as Sea Bream and Sea Bass. The highlight however was watching a barracuda prowling the area looking for its next meal! To get to the beach you cross a small bridge that goes over the small canal that connects the sea to the lagoon behind, here the water is crystal clear and all sorts of marine life can be seen as well as both ducks and swans. This is not a holiday for those looking for nearby bright lights and loud music, there are a few local bars and tavernas but generally best to head to Skiathos town on the bus. Not the first time to Skiathos for any of us, but first time we had stayed in this resort and hotel, hopefully it will not be the last.....!

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at the Mandraki. We received such a warm reception on our arrival from the owner and reception staff. The walk to our room was stunning surrounded by beautiful flowers. Each block of rooms were painted different colours. We had a small balcony overlooking the beautiful grounds. We had half board and the food was top class, 5 star standard. The chef Jovi often came and discussed the menu with us giving his recommendations. Nicolette the waitress was very friendly and saved us our favourite table each night. The beach, which is wonderful, is a 5 minute walk away. Easy to get into Skiathos town on the bus, one straight road. Majority of people in the hotel had been there several times which is testament to the standard of excellence. We will be back...thank you for making our stay a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Stay in the blue block - note there isn't a spa or fitness centre but couldn't remove that

We stayed at the Mandraki Village hotel in May 2014 and were not disappointed.

It had a nice reception area and the staff were friendly and very helpful.

The buffet breakfast was impressive with a wide selection for the different nationalities, which mainly were Brits, Swedish and the Netherlands.

The pool and the gardens were very relaxing and enjoyable with oranges and lemons on the trees. Our room had all the amenities that we needed. Air condition and TV.

There was no kettle but we were given one when we asked at Reception. We only visited their restaurant once as there were so many other restaurants to check out, and also we were not too keen on their menu.

We had hand luggage as we only stayed for a week so we were able to leave the airport very quickly and get a taxi. (Taxi 0030 69777 80097).which was no trouble.so there is no need to pre book.
As most of the beaches and restaurants are along the south side of the island you can get from Skiathos Town on the east side to Koukounaries on the west side by bus.
The bus stops are numbered from 1 – 26 and are very cheap. Two euros

We hired a 150cc scooter for three days (Aoanasios 24272 21246) in Skiatos Town, facing the port. We visited Kastro to the north of the island, and a couple of the beaches up that way. The road down to see the historic fortress at Kastro is very difficult by bike. There is a newly built car park half way down where it is advisable to leave your car or bike and walk the rest of the way. Next to the car park you can get a cold drink at Ourania’s Place, which is a quaint little bar. We had a long and interesting chat with Ourania.

My advice would be not to go north or east of the island as the roads are very poor and dangerous.

Most of the beaches are great we liked Banana beach and the Koukounaries beaches along with Megalos Aselinos as it was May the beaches were not very busy which was great.

Some of the restaurants we eat at were Green Park, Green Meadow, The big bad wolf, The Strofilia . There are lots of lovely restaurants to choose from.

Skiathos is certainly worth a visit.

Room Tip: Top Floor away from the fountain
