Guest house @ 250 m with a superb view of Anse Volbert.
Friendly team and helpful to provide a lift down to the beach and the restaurants.
Nice equipment on the beach and good deal to visit other islands around.
We really enjoyed the breakfast on the terrace looking over the sea.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in september 2009. We had booked the superior apartment but were overbooked, so they put us in a standard room for 3 nights, then the superior for 2 nights when the other guests had left. They offered us a 20€/night discount (100€/night for both rooms) so we weren't annoyed. Both rooms were very big and clean, with a great view. In the end we were very happy to have been overbooked, as we preferred the standard to the superior (see below).

The standard apartments are all in one building with the owner's apartment on the floor above. They have young children, and it was a little annoying to have them running on the floor above us in the early morning. I would recommend the chalets for maximum peace and privacy. Both rooms we stayed in had TV, cooker, fridge, radio, microwave, balcony. No internet access - have to go to the reception for it, as the router is in the reception, and the signal doen't carry so far. (Some rooms close to the reception might catch a little ? Didn't check this)

The superior room is a little strange - it is set higher up than the other rooms, and has a bigger balcony, so the view is really superb. The thing is that there is no wall, curtain or seperator between the balcony and the bedroom, so no way to keep out mosquitos (or anything else that flies, or spiders, geckos, etc. for that matter). Also, there are no shutters on any of the windows, just guaze curtains, so you never really have a feeling of privacy in this apartment. All in all, very disconcerting, which is why if/when we return, we will take a chalet (enclosed, on stilts, very private, fewer bugs). But it is really a superior apartment - much bigger than the standard, and much nicer too, with the best view in the hotel. Shame really.

The place is self-catering, but unless you have a car, it is VERY difficult to find ingredients for cooking (2 understocked shops and one fruit stall in easy walking distance, no meat or fish) as the main commercial area on praslin seems to be Baie St Anne. Still, the seychelles is expensive enough that self-catering is a nice option to have. The owner (Lesley) can sell you some of her own supplies quite cheaply (we bought a tuna steak) and this is a very useful alternative. No restaurant at the hotel. Breakfast is ok, not outstanding.

Lots of people have mentioned the steep climb up to the Mango Lodge. It's true - this is really a punishing climb, especially in the heat. I estimate it as 300m on a 10°-15° slope (just a guess). We are both fairly fit, but our limit was twice a day, with light bags for the beach. However, Praslin is big enough and the bus service infrequent enough that if you can rent a car, DO IT. It's the best way to see everything (sunset at Anse Lazio is wonderful) and if you don't, you will spend some money anyway on taxis. We didn't - no money - but we wish we could have.

The owner (Lesley) is very friendly and made our stay nice, but the staff is like all staff in Praslin - indifferent and bordering on the rude and lazy. On Praslin, people generally give the impression that we bother them by being around. For this, we much preferred la Digue, where people are much more open and smiling. (Try Verena Morel's "Le cocotier du rocher" for a good La Digue guesthouse)

Overall, the two big attractions of this hotel are the great view, and the rooms, which are very nice and offer good value for money. Would definitely go again, despite its imperfections.

This hotel is in the most beautiful setting but is some distance from any other facilities. Staff offer to drop and collect you from the beach but it's a hit and miss affair based on who is available. The rooms look fantastic but are in serious need of an update - especially the kitchen and bathroom facilities! There are no windows in the apartments - giving fantastic, uniterrupted views of the bay but be prepared to be eaten alive by the mosquitos throughout the night.
Breakfast is dull, limited and will not fill you - but supper (offered some evenings) is quite good.
It would not take much to make this hotel into a perfect little gem but for now - once you've got over the beautifuls views it provides a less than satisfactory stay.
