“Idylic setting and fantastic, friendly service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2010

When we arrived at La Reserve we were made to feel most welcome and were upgraded to a Luxury room and given a bottle of champagne to celebrate being on honeymoon. These rooms are very luxurious and have recently been built (following the 2004 tsunami).

We stayed on a half board basis -with breakfast and dinner included. The standard of food was very high and was served on a jetty overlooking the Indian Ocean - a fantastic experience.

The hotel organises daily trips to other islands - Curieuse, La Digue, etc- which are recommended and are reasonably priced.

Drinks etc were also reasonably priced - we certainly didnt feel like we were getting ripped off.

Great views from the beach over to Curieuse and Aride.

The only issue was that the air con made the room too cold - not really an issue.

Overall we considered this to be our favourite hotel we stayed in, especially in terms of value for money having stayed at Lemuria and Sunset Beach.

What a perfect place to start your married life. From Peter, the owner downwards all the staff made you feel welcome and extremely friendly. Meals superb, location superb, rooms superb. Now for the downside, there isn't any. Everything was just perfect.

Small hotel, located on a quiet bay on the north of Praslin island.
The whole experience is one of quiet efficiency and excellent service. Food choices are not always extensive in the evening (but always excellent quality), but more than made up for with the buffet evenings, and the special 5 course seafood honeymooners dinner on Thursdays.
The hotel were very accommodating with our early arrival and late check out. In both cases we were able to make use of our room.
The excursions were popular, and very well organised and run. Francis was an entertaining and knowledgeable guide.
Finally, the rooms are hugely spacious and immaculately presented. They all face out towards the sea and beach and provide sunset views.

This hotel is absolutly beautiful and in a lovely location. The honeymoon package is great with amazing 5 course fish dinner and champagne on arrival. All staff were so friendly particularly Ralf who was an expert in pouring Seybrew and the barmen who put the world cup games on including putting our own English flag up for us! Great trips with Francis and Ron and the food was outstanding every night. We stayed for 14 days and there was always great variety. So much nicer than staying in a chain hotel and even better than the 5 star lemuria resort where we went for lunch one day. La Reserve feels more personal and friendly, food is tastier and you couldnt better the rooms.

We have just returned from La Reserve after getting married there, I have never felt the need to write a review but after our stay there I felt i needed to let people know what a fantastic place this is, it is tranquil, beautiful and the staff are great - so friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them. Annia ensured we had the wedding we had dreamed about, she is fantastic, they should really plug their wedding packages better because they are briliant at them. The food is mouthwatering and the restaurant staff are very professional and friendly especially Rena and Madeline. I would recommend this to anyone.

We are Ellen and Tjerk from Amsterdam in The Netherlands and we have chosen the Seychelles as our honeymoon destination and decided to visit three islands (Praislin, Denis Island and Mahe). We have had the best honeymoon. We have visited exotic locations before but this was the best spot ever. We will remember one hotel in particular that has contributed greatly to our honeymoon: hotel La Reserve on Praislin and we would really like to recommend this hotel to everybody. We always search for a boutique hotel with luxury and service as we want to have the island experience and not a mass hotel that is found all over the world. In a nutshell, .La Reserve had excellent service with a personal touch, great location directly on the beautiful beach/bay of anse petit cour with impressive granuite boulders, beautiful room with seaview and a nice restaurant on a peer with high quality food. We will go in more detail.

We got a warm welcome and got a beautiful spacious modern romantic room direct on the beach and with a full view on the beautiful bay of anse petit cour.A bottle of (real) champagne welcomed us in our room. The shower was extremely spacious and the bath tub was lovely. . It also had a beatuiful terrace with deck chairs. The kingsize canopy bed made the room very romantic.

The hotel offers free excursions which was fabulous and special (given the rate of similar excursions elswhere on the island). The hotel has its own boat which is relatively new with quite some power. The schipper Billy is also great with nice stories and enthousiam. We went on a trip to Curieuse Island which island can clearly be seen from the hotel. We first went snorkling on a St Pierre and proceeded to Curieuse island which inhabited a lot of land turtles and mangroves. It also has a beautiful untouched wide and white sand beach. Great trip with a great tour guide named Ron. We also went on the sunset cruise and acually saw turtles and dolphins with the best sunset ever. Last but not least: Valle de Mai which was paradise in paradise.

The food in the restaurant was excellent and differed from 5 course meals to a creole evening and barbecue night. The big treat however was the free 5 course sea food private dinner that was included in our honeymoon package. It ecxeeded our expectation.

The hotel supposedly has the biggest swimmingpool of the Seychelles. It was a very nice (childfriendly) swimmingpool. The only small comment we could make is that it has no view on the sea. On the other hand it is only 10 steps away from the sea so that actually did not bother us and offered a nice variation once in a while. The pool is beautifully lid in the evening and offers once a week a nice barbecue.

The hotel also has an award winning cocktail shaker in its bar who is always in for a talk and of course a beautiful cocktail. Very outstanding and impressive was the excellent choice of French wines.

The hotel also had a nice little beachbar where you could get snorkel gear and where great cocktails are served and has happy hour. Snorkling was great in the bay. It is a very calm sheltered bay with nice fishes and sea turtles.

The hotel had such a nice and relaxed atmosphere with enough going on in the hotel but not too much in your face. We were really rested after a week and we saw (on a nice pace) all the attractions on the island well arranged by the hotel. Thank you La Reserve: you have been Paradise in Paradise to us!!!!

Ellen and Tjerk
