My wife and I spent 10 days in this hotel. Our overall impressions are really great. We went there to get married and everything went smoothly: place on the beach was nice, we had proper champagne, real wedding cake, music was nice, and photographer was cooperative. Romantic dinner was also very nice. So much about wedding, now hotel....
Hotel is set in the palm tree forest and it's very well hidden in it so you almost cannot see it from sea. We had room 20 meters from beach and listened to waves all night long. Room is the same as on picture on web site: big, cozy bed, nice bathroom with large tub and nice walk in closet. There is a terrace in front of the room so we sat there in the evenings and enjoyed. Rooms are very clean and new towels are brought every day.
Beach is very, very nice with white sand and granite rocks; above beach you can see nice green forest. Beach is long so you can walk for 1-1, 30 hours from one end to another. Sea is rather shallow what we didn't like too much.
Food was very tasteful and there is a lot of it. Every evening there are several types of fish, grilled chicken and great choice of vegetables. Watch for Creole cuisine since it can be rather hot! Staff was very nice and friendly, especially Philip and Joyce.
There is only one thing to change: wine list should be a bit longer....
Overall, great hotel for reasonable price.

Room Tip: ask for room 4.

Great hotel and great location.

Although it might be advisable to stay no longer than 7 nights at this hotel as it can be samely and the buffet is on a weekly rotation (so be prepared to have the same food if you're staying for more than 7 days).

Great staff, welcoming, friendly and helpful. Comfortable rooms and a very content stay.

Don't miss Anse Lazio (short taxi ride away) - voted the best beach in the world...it really is.

We stayed at the Paradise Sun on Praslin for the second week of July 2012. We had a fantastic holiday. We would definitely return to the same hotel. Seemed very family friendly too (we travelled as a couple).

Setting: awesome. Right on the beach, crystal clear water, white beaches, palm trees. Idylic.

Staff: fantastic, could not have been more helpful. From the reception, to the porters, to the waiters and general management. Service excellent. Cold towel on arrival, notes on departure - attention to detail.

Activities: The hotel is right on the beach and great snorkeling is a short boat trip or canoe paddle away (provided by the hotel). Hotel provides free mask/snorkel/flippers for your stay. There is a SR200 fee to pay for each island you snorkel around. The hotel has a great helpdesk near the beach for snorkel trips. We had great snorkeling at St Pierre island which we paddled to from the hotel, and at Coco island which was about half an hour by boat from the hotel. We caught a ferry to La Digue which is a must - bicycle hire was about SR150, ferry about 20 Euros (15 minute trip from the Jetty on Praslin which is about a 10 minute bus ride from the hotel).

La Digue: La Digue has incredible beaches and few cars & you can cover most of the island in a day (suggest 9am ferry and 16h30 return). Viewpoint restaurant very pricey drinks but good view.

Rooms: There are 4 rooms per unit with a walk-in cupboard space and a bathroom behind the bed. We had a great room very close to the beach. Some further back than others. Downside for some might be that you can't really leave the doors open without the shutters closed as people will be walking past your rooms. Then again you'd probably rather lie on a lounger next to the sea than on your bed. Rooms are airconditioned and have TV's with a couple of South African satelite channels. No bath unfortunately - shower only.Rooms were ready straight away which was great after the overnight flight.

Praslin: We didn't hire a car but could've. The nearest "village" to the hotel is a short 5min walk on the beach away & has a spaza shop and curio shops, etc. We bought drinks/water (can't drink water in rooms) here for about SR14 as opposed to the SR40 up at the hotel. Beers at the hotel about SR70. Exchange rate for South African Rand is about 1.8 so you can roughly halve everything. There is a bus stop outside the hotel and its about 15 minutes to the renowned Anse Lazio beach. The busses were generally about 15 mins late and are pretty regular - hotel has timetable. Good viewpoint above the hotel of the other side overlooking La Reserve. Very narrow roads with no pedestrian walkways so not great for running on!

Food: Great food, buffets, not much local cuisine included. Wide range of food. Tea's were the only criticism - tea time about 4pm included only a bottle of biscuits. Also there was never enough milk - a small jug would run out quickly and took a while to get a replacement. Better spread would've been great.

Weather: mostly great. Couple of days had some wind and showers which quickly cleared. Seems weather was unseasonal (wind earlier than usual) but is becoming the norm. Didn't spoil the trip.

Spa: Fantastic. great staff and massages. They had a 3 for the price of 2 while we were there which made it very reasonable. Afternoons they had a 25% off running. Recommend the couples massage which includes a 15 minute foam bath and great massage.

Travel: Only about 5 hours from SA with a 2 hour time difference (SA 2 hours earlier). The 11pm, 5am arrival from South Africa isn't great if you battle to sleep on a plane but the setting makes up for it. Our return was a 3:30pm Seychelles time departure and a 18h45 SA time arrival. The flights leave from Mahe (main island) and our 15 minute flights (20 seater plane) from Mahe to Praslin island were included in our package.

Select Seychelles: Josepha visited the hotel every day and is a great help with loads of information and tours available, etc.

We stayed here for a week in February 2012. We fell in love with the place. The resort is right on the beach and it is gorgeous with beautiful fine white sand and crystal clear blue water. The beach stretches for kms - it made for great walks. So peaceful and relaxing.

The resort is not isolated as there is a small "village" to walk to and explore tiny shops or have another choice for food. The village has a delightful little ice cream shop and little stores that sell food and alcohol which you can take back to your room or have on the beach.

Service is friendly and helpful. Buffet meals are good - catering to all tastes (but not as "local" as I had hoped.)

The resort has activities and we enjoyed a boat tour with snorkeling, the sunset cruise and bike riding.

We never felt isolated and LOVED the beauty and serenity. Well worth it and I would highly recommend it.

We visited Paradise Sun for a week at the end of May and had a lovely time.

Welcome: we were welcome by warm friendly staff who filled us in on everything we needed to know about the hotel and its facilities. We had cold towels on arrival which was great considering the traveling we did before we arrived at the hotel. Homemade juices tea, coffee, Croissants, biscuits and cakes were also provided. We were there to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and received a free couple’s spa treatment. A nice sentiment by the hotel..  Another great plus was that our rooms were ready and we were able to unpack immediately and have a shower…..

Porter: Mario was great… He did an awesome job and was always around to make sure we were ok before going off on tours.

Rooms: our room was clean, spacious with a good size bathroom. The aircon was also great and worked perfectly during our whole stay. The housekeeping staff was really great and our room was always cleaned perfectly with little flower arrangements made on the bed everyday. The hotel provided sufficient amounts of toiletries to last your entire stay. We did have a slight problem with the toilet but the maintenance team corrected this issue by installing a new unit in the room. Sheets were changed when requested and the housekeeping staff also swept up the sand in the evening and replaced all used towels for that day. There was a bar fridge in the room which you can get the hotel to stock up for you or you could visit the local shops about 5 minutes away and stock it up yourself. It was a bit cheaper to do it yourself and you could also pick up some snacks if you are craving some junk food.

Food: We stayed on a half board basis. We did enquire if we could upgrade to an all-inclusive package was it was not offered at the hotel. That would have been really nice.

We did have lunch at the hotel on a few occasions. The food was lovely and the portion size sufficient. The drinks menu was a bit pricey and the cocktails a bit too strong for my liking… but that’s just my taste.. It costs about 50 rupees for a 1 litre water and 105 rupees for a cocktails.

The buffet in the mornings was comparable to any hotel around the world with your cold and hot meal selection.

The buffet in the evenings were equally good and the different themed evenings made it a bit interesting wondering what was going to be on the menu. The soups were lovely every evening. I would have liked to seen a bit more chicken or veg options on the menu though but it was not a problem. If you spoke to the chef they would always make something for you. Hats off to the chefs!!! We had a set menu on the one evening as it was a French holiday. This was also a nice touch and something different. The layout was also very nice romantic and we had some live entertainment on 2 occasions.

Room Service: It would have been nice to have a room service option as a little extra...

Afternoon tea : the hotel offered complementary afternoon tea as part of the package. This was ok with tea, coffee, juices and water provided. They also had some biscuits and a few cake slices. IT would have been nice if there was some savoury snacks here like sandwiches. We had sandwiches only on one day and it was a hit.

Tours: there are onsite tour agents at the hotel. We had Select Seychelles and Josepha was awesome!!! Go to her if you need anything. We did 2 tours with her and she made sure she changed her plans and came along with us. She has been in the industry for a while and really knows the history of the island. She also did a great job on recommending the tours. People told us about some tours but it was not feasible due to the weather and she explained this to us instead of booking it for us and leaving us disappointed.

Spa: The spa was awesome!!!! We had spa treatments everyday… We had massages, mani’s and pedi’s and they were all just as good… The spa is clean, neat and tidy and they use products that you would find in spas around the world. I was quite impressed by this. The ladies are from Bali and they were very well trained and very professional. If you get a chance this is a must!

Staff: The staffs are very friendly and very accommodating. They really make you feel comfortable.

View/Beach: The beach was one of the best beaches on the island. The restaurant and the lounges are a stone throw away from the water which made it very relaxing.. The staff always do a great job maintain this strip and making sure all is ok for the guests. It was also good to swim in with the currents not being very strong.

Overall we had a lovely stay at the hotel and would recommend it to anyone that would like to visit the island.

We stayed in beach front family room - room slightly on the small side (sofa bed for boys aged 6 and 8) but size of room didn't detract from sympathetically decorated room - lovely colours and woodwork that fit in with the island..

30 seconds walk to the beach and main dining area - super buffet - that's not always a buffet - some nights they serve the food to your table in a set menu - which is great when you are groaning from buffet fatigue.

Beautifully run hotel, clean, tidy with great staff. Beach equipment a bit limited and hotel could do with it's own boat - we ran the risk of the local boat boys to go on a fishing trip which was fine - but I would be careful who you chose to go with...

All in all - highly recommended and would go again.
