Berjaya Praslin Resort - Seychelles
Ranked #12 of 12 Hotels in Anse Volbert
Reviewed 14 February 2013

Praslin is one of the most beautiful beaches in this world i would say and the Berjaya property is the best resort out there! Very ambient rooms (as cottages), on the beach front with the Pizzeria restaurant and scuba diving office, this forms the gateway to this amazing island. At the reception one can find a car rental and excursion planners. One of the most polite and courteous staffs I have ever come across...if one is travelling to Seychelles, this is the best place to justify the extra amount one pays to get to Seychelles!

Room Tip: All are good!

Pluses:-

- Location - next to a very beautiful beach.
- Beautiful resort.
- Nice pool.
- Nice dining area.
- Nice rooms.
- Clean and pretty hygienic.
- Check in / check out smooth.
- Buffet breakfast was well spread with pretty vast options.
- Provision of beach towels, safe facilities or any other small help - all available.
- Availability of tour operators in the lobby allows to book trips and get various tickets at ease.

Minuses:-

- Room service - very slow and at times doesn't respond if its a little bit late in the night.
- Staff are ok but at times seem disinterested.
- Indians and vegetarians have very little options for lunch and dinner.
- Better colour on the walls and furniture can give it some upbeat look otherwise the insides of the room looks very drab.
- Security is not very reliable as the glass doors in my room was not working the first day.
- Very far from the airport / jetty service.

Room Tip: Ocean view.

We liked the hotel, good location, nice decoration, staff are very friendly and helpful.
No television was in our room.
We had some maintanace problems, some of them had not fixed, although we asked 3 times (water linking in the room from the AC), electricity problems
Internet- very poor, expensive, lot of problems as istability, slow.

Room Tip: all rooms seems to us as "good location" inside the hotel

The hotel is situated on the beautiful beach of Anse Volbert. Near the beach there is a restaurant owned by the Berjaya hotel, but the food there is terrible. However, in another restaurant breakfast is served buffet. There is a large selection and you can eat well. Rooms in houses bungalows are very modestly decorated. Part of it is restored and you can relax. Bathrooms are small and modestly decorated. TV is not in the hotel. There is also no internet connections. The pool is quite small, but clean. Served here in the afternoon cake with coffee and tea, but the food hamper wild birds. Staff are friendly and obliging - can communicate in Italian and English. On the beach the hotel in the evening to the local people appear - often drunken and vulgar. You have to be careful after dark, the wild dogs.

We stayed in this hotel for 8 days. Hotel is about 100 m from the beach Anse Volbert. Breakfast was average but service slowly. We had to ask for plates, mugs, coffee very often. We booked only breakfast so we tried 3 restaurants around. The best is next door call Les Laurier (cost 450 sr per person for buffet dinner). Our room was quite big with shower and bath too. You can't be scared of small lizards which are everywhere within room. In hotel you can rent a car or book boat trips to another islands. In hotel is a souvenir shop. Hotel has a small outside pool which is good for children. Next to pool is bar where were only 2 chairs available. Compare to another 3 stars hotels where we stayed before was poor. The main positive thing of this hotel is good location on Praslin island a very close to nice beach. Be careful of local people who offer boat trips on the beach. We had problem with one called Nyall, who promised trip, took deposit for it and on day of trip he changed the plan completely. Then we had to argue with him to get a money back. But we didn't get all. Maybe is better book these trips by local travel agency called Creoles.

The Berjaya hotel has a very nice beach and location, but I must say and I am not a fussy person, that the staff had a bad attitude.
I have travelled a lot but the loss of will to service the guests in this hotel I have never seen.
The breakfast was very poor and you wondered where the chef had gone!!!
You had to wait for getting a cup of coffe if they pleased to even give you a cup!!!
Overall I think this is a attitude among many places and you got the feeling of not being welcomed! I have never had this feeling before.
We went to the beach of Lazio and at the beach bar there they were even worse.....
Praslin is a very beutiful island but I am dissapointed because I thought it would be a bit like the Maldives but it is not. We had hoped to snorkel and see alot of fishes from the beach in Ance Volbert but the water was not so clear and you hardly saw any fish at all.
We stayed 6 nights in this hotel and it was okey apart from service.
If you find a coconut at the beach I will give you a warning for the coconutman who takes your nut and then will come back and sell it to you even if you found it first. I wanted my husband to open it for me but the coconut chef was there first and of cours it is not for free. We went fishing twice from the beach with 2 different operatorss and we loved it.
We liked to sit and have a lunch and a couple of beers at the beach bar and it was nice there. Though the personal was very ignorant at first but got better when we had been there a couple of times. If you love swaying palms and white beaches you shall go here but not for the snorklin from beach.
We went on atrip to snorkel with tourtles and I sam with a giant tourtle.Macig feeling as we love the marine life and the ocean. After the 6 nights we were off to La Digue for 4 nights.
Still we had a wonder ful vacation.

Room was quite cosy, simple but clean, nice bathroom. Breakfasts - I would expect better in such hotel, but sufficient if you are not too choosy. The best advantage of this hotel is Anse Volbert - I liked this beach very much, very good for swimming, nice sand and really close to the hotel. The good thing was also the possibility of borrowing a nice towel from the hotel for the beach for free. We stayed there in August 2011 - the time when the shark killed two people on Anse Lazio - so we didn´t enjoy this beautiful beach as much as we would want. We were swimming only very close to the beach as we were afraid, but the Anse Lazio beach is very beautiful, but full of tourists. From Berjaya you can reach it by bus (the bus stop is at the hotel) or get a taxi, it´s quite distant. Generally I liked our stay in Berjaya although we hadn´t had nice weather all the time.
And yet one thing about the housekeeping - they always turned on the air condition in the room so much that it was almost freezing there when we came back to the room. We had to let the room opened for a few minutes before we could enter.
