We loved the place and will definetely come back!!
Fully agree with all previous reviews re the property and location, but was a little dissapointed with the breakfast, a small fruit platter, toast, fruit juice and tea/coffee. At all other places we stayed we also had bacon & egg, yoghurt, croissants. It wouldn't take much to make breakfast much better.

I stayed here for 3 nights from 15. to 18. February 2008, and that was far too short! Although the rate was € 186 per night, it was good value for money!
Situated right on the Cote D'Or, it's the perfect setting for those who like a quiet relaxing atmosphere on Praslin. I was given a big two bedroom villa (with 3 toilets!) only 20 metres from the beach. The villa has a fully eqipped kitchen, and the terrace was HUGE!
The villas are surronded by a beautiful tropical garden, with a small swimming-pool. Even the 100 m. drive-way from the entrance is a masterpiece in gardening.
The manager and his staff made every efford for the guests to feel comfortable during their stay. Since I stayed only 3 nights, I have to come back! I will absolutely recommend Les Villas d'Or to all kind of visitors.
We stayed at these self-catering villas for 2 nights. On turning into the driveway the first reaction is "wow" as the long driveway & lush & well-maintained gardens come into view. These are located facing the Cote d'Or beach in Praslin which is a stunning looking beach. We were greeted by the lovely resident manager Pierre who was very welcoming & knowledgeable. The complex is set in extensive lush tropical grounds but consists of only a few single storey villas giving residents a sense of safety but seclusion. Our villa was of excellent quality, consisting of 1 king-sized bedroom with plenty of storage space for clothes as well as a dressing table, airconditioning & floor-to-ceiling patio windows leading to the front veranda overlooking the gardens & sea. The en-suite bathroom is spacious with plenty of storage & a double power shower. Cleanliness is impecable & decor is modern. There is also a large kitchen/diner/living room with all appliances, crockery, cutlery,tv/video/dvd present. There is lots of natural light with again patio doors leading to the front veranda overlooking the sea & gardens with 2/4 wooden recliners provided with 2/4 plastic loungers to take to relax on at the beach.
Although not a lot to do at night on the island it is the ideal place to relax with a glass or three of champagne, listen to birdsong & take in the view! It is also an ideal base for families. Although pricey it is worth every penny as nothing is too much trouble.
My wife and I recently spent a week at this property and were absolutely gutted to leave. This is a very high end self catering establishment with beautiful rooms (lounge/kitchen/bedroom & large bathroom) and a very spacious veranda set in tastfully done gardens on one of the world's best beaches - what more can I say !!! Pierre (site manger) and his team work really hard to make sure your every need is catered without pestering you. If you are after fast paced nightlife don't bother with here though as the peace and quiet is one of the main reasons to visit this part of the Seychelles. It's position on Praslin is ideal for La Digue etc trips and if you are into snorkling a trip to Coco and St Pierre islands is a must - regular close encounters with turtles !!! Use Jim (guy with dreadlocks) who runs the boat taxi at the octopus dive centre (by far end of cote d'or beach).
We spent a week at the Villas D'Or in July as part of a 2-centre holiday, with the first week on Mahe.
Gorgeous tropical paradise, wonderful coastline and hilly, forested interior. Good base for trips to other islands such as La Digue. Depending on the time of year, some beaches are dangerous for swimming so do some research if this is important to you. The weather was generally very good, although it rained briefly once or twice it dried up again very quickly.
Right on the beach (see photos) on the East coast of Praslin. The beach is absolutely superb, a long swathe of white sand and with a very calm sea (at least in July). There are several other hotels and restaurants nearby, although the road is unlit and there is no footpath so a car is handy, as well as making it a lot easier to explore the island. Although there are some local shops and supermarkets the range of food is very limited with almost no fresh fruit/veg/meat so don't plan on being able to cook exotic dinners.
Well appointed with good size deck area and well furnished. The kitchen has all you need for the sort of cooking you are likely to be doing on a holiday like this. The slatted construction of the door and window frames means that it is impossible to keep insects out at night, so if you are bothered by mosquitoes take an electric repellent or get mosquito coils locally. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the maid sevice was very efficient. As the villas are semi-detached, if you only occupy one half you can hear your neighbours through the shared wall although this was no worse than in some hotel rooms. The tropical gardens are very well-tended and the villas are laid out so that they do not really overlook one another.
Superb destination for a relaxing holiday in luxurious surroundings without the formality of a hotel.
