We stayed at Le Duc for the last two weeks of August to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and could not have been more delighted with our stay. We were looking for somewhere that was small, intimate and family friendly, we have an 11 year old son. Le Duc ticked all the boxes.

We booked directly with the hotel and all the details were handled promptly with all email queries answered within 48 hours. On arrival at Praslin Airport we were met by a taxi organised by the hotel and made the 15 minute drive to Le Duc with no problems. On reaching the hotel we were greeted with cold drinks and escorted to our room following a detailed briefing by reception. So far so good...

The room, 15, was huge, well appointed with a large balcony overlooking the pool. Large bathroom with separate bath and shower. In room TV reception is poor but signal boosters will be installed to, hopefully, rectify this. Not an issue for my wife or I but always handy to keep kids entertained whilst getting showered, changed etc. A dedicated kids channel such as CN should be considered - parents will thank you for it!

Housekeeping kept the room spotless and did so with a smile. Always accommodating, they work around their guests and were unfailingly polite and friendly.

The food was excellent. Breakfast was a buffet affair with plenty of choice. Lunch was a set menu of about a dozen items and over the two weeks we tried them all - no complaints. Our son recommends the creole burger (the creole sauce was pretty good!) :) Dinner alternated between buffets and 4 course set menus. We preferred the set menus but had no complaints with the buffets. The food was of a very high quality throughout our stay. On a couple of nights, when we struggled to find anything on the menu that our, admittedly fussy, lad would eat the kitchen staff cooked him a pizza (reliable fall back for kids!) and had it on the table with our main course. Anything on the lunch menu, very child friendly, can be pre-ordered up to 8pm. The restaurant staff were excellent. Georgette and her team were friendly, helpful and always had a ready smile. The food was very good, but they made it an absolute pleasure to eat at the hotel. Having the koi pond run through the restaurant made for entertaining meals and we were astonished at the size and variety of fish. A lot of care has gone into breeding and maintaining them.

The grounds are immaculately kept. On first arrival I was left with the impression that they were busy, almost cluttered. But within a day or so I appreciated the seclusion that the palms gave the rooms. Full of flowers, birds and brightly coloured lizards the grounds are a delight. The pool area is stylish, attractive and never busy. There were always loungers free and the pool was never crowded.

The hotel is not on the beach. You have to cross a lane and walk approximately 30m to reach the beach. A further 60-70m further along the lane is the Cafe des Arts, also owned by the hotel, which is directly on the beach and provides free sun loungers for use by Le Duc guests. The beach itself is a gem. Soft white sand with a shallow slope - ideal for kids. Yes, there was some seaweed. But it's minimal and never a problem. The water is as warm as you would expect of the Indian Ocean, like a bath at times :) but cloudy with sand, being quite shallow. You'll need to travel if you want to snorkel. The beach was never crowded and we always had plenty of space and peace.

Briefly, I dived with Octopus Divers, about 200m from the hotel, and had no complaints. Friendly, safe and well organised. The diving is not up to Maldives standards, but saw sharks, turtles, moray, octopus, lobster and all the usual suspects. I wouldn't travel to the Seychelles specifically to dive but if you're there it's worth the effort.

Whilst celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, we wanted to renew our vows. The initial organising was done via email. The reception/front office staff were courteous and efficient always responding to our, numerous, enquiries promptly. Once at the hotel, Margaret, Cynthia and team were marvellous and had everything under control. They kept us fully informed of all the details and did so efficiently and with great humour. Even when it rained on the day they had 'plan B' ready and everything went smoothly. Thank you :)

A couple of mishaps, the lights in the room fused one night and the air con leaked water another. However, someone was in our room within 10 minutes of reporting the problems and they were fixed quickly and apologies given. The maintenance team were very helpful, friendly, efficient... I see a pattern emerging here!

The hotel is attractive, well kept, with good food and facilities. But it's the people that work there that make all the difference. An exceptional team that deliver first rate customer service. After meeting the owner, Robert, and his family in the restaurant, by the pool and on the beach it's easy to see why. It's a family run hotel that makes its guests feel part of the family. And a genuinely warm family at that.

It's not the cheapest hotel on Praslin, but it delivers very good value for money and exceptional service in a very welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Any superior room

We were planning to stay at Le Duc in Praslin for 4 nights at the end of our trip to Seychelles. Unfortunately, we had a bike accident on our second day and stayed only for 1 night. Robert, the director, took care of the situation as soon as he knew we were at the hospital and he was very helpful. Apart from this accident, the hotel is great, the room is beautiful with a lot of details and the gardens and the swimming pool are simply to die for. The situation of the hotel could not be better: very close to the beach and with some good restaurants nearby. We definitely will go back to Le Duc soon.

Room Tip: Rooms in the first floor are more private.

Had the pleasure of staying at this little piece of heaven on Praslin in Seychelles. Great hospitality, extremely clean, despite being in a garden setting there were no bugs. Breath taking pool and exquisite cuisine. The staff are great and so helpful and cheerful and always willing to go the extra mile to please us. I also got the pleasure of having a very nice massage from their spa and this is one expereince i will never forget.
Did i say the food was exquisite? Wow that is one culinary experience i will not forget, I was so glad we decided to stay in and dine at the hotel every night during our 3 night stay. We experienced the rest of the island during the day. Praslin is definetly the place to stay in Seychelles being such a beautiful little island and so serene and Le Duc the first choice for accommodation especially if you are after a very warm hospitality..home away from home really.

Room Tip: Close to the beautiful pool is a plus for sure as it is breath taking.

We stayed at le Duc de Praslin for 4 nights during our honeymoon. Since Seychelles is expensive and we had a certain budget, we decided to stay more and more expensive throughout the honeymoon to be able to to stay really nicely in the end. le Duc de Praslin was our middle choice in between the cheaper Villa de Jardins and more expensive Chateau des Feuilles. Our first stay at Villa de Jardins was amazing and above all expectations. Since we payed more than twice for Duc de Praslin we found it a bit disappointing that it was not nearly as nice. Don't get me wrong, it is a nice hotel, with nice rooms, but we expected something more. Especially since we stayed in the honeymoon suite and I am not sure what was special about it compared to the other rooms.

One thing that of course affected our opinions towards the negative was that we both got food poisoning from the lunch bar snacks and spend the night and next day taking turns on the toilet. The staff was friendly when we explained to them what had happened and they seemed genuinly surprised, so hopefully we were simply unlucky.

We did not take half-pension, which I think was the right decision. We still ate at le Duc for one night and there more upper-scale restaurant Cafe des Arts. The latter is right on the beach with very nice atmosphere and fantastic food. If I can make one comment for improvement for Cafe des Arts, was that everything was too fast for our likings. There were basically no time in between courses and we felt rushed. One wants to enjoy the romantic settings and tasty food in a more timely matter.

We made such a great choice to stay here for two nights as part of our honeymoon island hopping in Seychelles.

This was one of the only hotels that was able to boast a full staff of Seychellois, which made the resort have a very inviting atmosphere. You will find other resorts hire a lot of foreign staff, so knowing that everyone is actually from the island made the stay all the more memorable.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was very nice and spacious. We had no issues with any of the facilities and were very happy to have stayed here.

The food was very good. My husband was ecstatic to have finally found Nutella (Hazelnut spread) for breakfast!

The location is fantastic, we booked through a travel agent so we did not have to worry about any transfers (Creole Travel took care of all of that). The beach close by is very nice, but you have to go to Anse Lazio, it is breathtaking!

Overall we would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others to stay here.

We stayed here for 5 nights in July 2012 as part of our honeymoon. Initial impressions were positive. The rooms and all facilities are located within well maintained gardens and the hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from the main beach (beach ok - lots of seaweed and no bathing space and medium or high tide - much better to catch bus to Anse Lazio about 20 mins away)

Sadly Le Duc seems to be suffering from the Lonely Planet / TripAdvisor affect whereby prices get pushed up significantly on the back of good reviews, without any investment in customer service or infrastructure to justify the new prices (if you compare the prices in the guest info in each room with what's actually charged, you'll see that food and drink prices have gone up 20%!)

The rooms are spacious and clean with huge beds and a lovely balcony. however they are poorly designed - some windows have no curtains that fit so very bright in the mornings, the bathroom is open to the room, and also to other rooms looking into ours, so little privacy. To turn on the bathroom lights at night, the whole area lights up, thus waking those sleeping.

breakfast is very disappointing, with a limited selection. We'd recommend that you avoid the coffee (stewed) and omelettes (come out as scrambled eggs). Dinner is always a buffet (and trousers compulsory!), so if you want al a carte, best to walk into town. Be careful - this is down and unlit track and you need to cross open ground to get there and we never saw any security in the area to look after guests.

the pool area is small, and mainly in shade.

our shower didn't work properly and we spoke to the front desk on our first day. This was never mended despite asking twice more for it to be repaired.

Travellers beware! If you have not booked directly with the hotel or with a tour operator you are of no interest. We booked through Expedia and had a number of problems as a result. First, we contacted the hotel directly before we left on holiday and also from the hotel we were staying at before travelling to Praslin to arrange a free VIP pick up from the Ferry Terminal (as advertised on Le Duc's website). This never materialised and we were told when we got through to them to take a taxi instead and we'd be reimbursed. This cost €20 for the 5km journey, but when we arrived they refused to reimburse us. We also had an issue with the room as Expedia had booked us as a single occupant rather than double. This took days to get to the bottom of, with misleading and conflicting information from the hotel. Eventually they charged us the maximum possible additional rate of €70 a night.

sadly this is a no more than a 3 star hotel trying to charge guests 5 star rates. There are better hotels on Praslin and La Digue that will offer a much better experience. Avoid.

Just came back last week from a holiday as well and my lovely team who have taken so great care of Le Duc in my absence has put to my attention out of the hundreds happy guest over the short period of time that i was absent to only one complain which is obviously the one im replying now. Let take it step by step.
1. With the moon the tide changes and apparently the time that you stayed at Le Duc was quite a few days of high tide, but i wuld not agree "lots " of seaweed. With a 2 km of beach and only a few clients one must be very demanding to ask for more beach space
2..Le Duc is and will be always the best value 4 start hotel on Praslin island. its proven and atested by hundreds of clients that writes on trip advisor ect. Do you think we pay clients to do that..are all the good coments not real?? its your coments that clients will not beleive. Cant you see you are one out of so many good coments. Le Duc is an example to may other establishment in seychelles for the continued investment it does. We have just invested 150,000 euros in redoing our pool area of which you still not happy with. its the only Magna Pool in Seychelles.
3. Our Rooms are the most spacious and comfortable rooms as you say, and very modend thus some having an open plan Bathrooms aswas the case with your room , but maybe you are not used to saying in such modern environment.. I accept that. Oh By the way next to your bed there are about 4 individual switches for diferent lights and ambience, didnt expect a grown up to be taught how to use a few simple switch as we have never had this coment before.
4. In Regards to the shower... To our Knowledge nothing written in our maintenance logbook. Such a simple thing and you wait to write on trip advisor instaed of getting it sorted out at the hotel..Very strange
5. In Regars to Restaurant..We have two and not one. Reputed to be the best on the island. However you did not eat at the restaurants for reasons we beleive you were looking for the cheapest pizza around. Cafe des Arts is not buffet and alacarte with a wide selection and as for the main Restaurant Buffet is 4 nights a week only with 3 nights " table dote"
6. Finally..we have realised and has been confirmed by the Touroperator that you did book and pay for one person only and that you had all this planed up that you will bring your mrs and try to make her stay for free and when we found out , the reason for all your negative coments about us and frustration that you had to pay extra. Im sorry if your plan did not go accordingly but its unfair to criticise the hotel because we made you pay for what you did not pay initially.
Thank you.

The hotel is very pretty in every way, the staff is very nice and even handles extra orders perfectly (in my family there are 2 members with severe allergies, who when not able to eat the normal serving always got amazingly prepared extras without any fuzzing). A beautiful beach, not at all crowded!! - you even can feel its your own ;), is just outside the hotel and in addition there is a nice pool. The rooms are big, well furnished and very clean. I would come again, as I am perfectly rested and had an amazing time here!
