We arrived at 9.30pm and were warmly greeted by Alexandra, who informed us that the dining room had been kept open especially for us and our fellow travellers. A very nice touch and got our holiday off to a good start. Our room was in the main building at the far end, nicely furnished, really quiet, with stunning views, only the crashing waves to disturb you.

Whilst we were at the hotel, we read a previous review which said the hotel was tired and shabby looking. We deliberately went looking around to see what these people were on about as this was not the impression we got at all, quite the opposite. We found the bar area had beautiful cream leather sofas, the pool area had comfy seating and loungers, the rooftop area had brilliant large wicker sofas and brand new loungers. The restaurant was perfect, stunning views, linen tableclothes, tables cleared very quickly. The only area we saw which was a little shabby was the stairways and frankly who cares about that...the rest of the hotel was absolutely gorgeous.
There was nothing we could find to fault with this hotel, yes its a steep walk back from the village but we were delighted about this as we got some exercise after all the lovely food. We walked most days and found it took about 50 mins to walk into the surrounding villages. Any locals we came across were very friendly and were delighted to help with directions to local beauty spots. It really is stunningly beautiful around this hotel and I would suggest that you do try and get out and about.
The only thing that prevented me from awarding full marks was the entertainment. The young team are very friendly and tried their best but it was just not to our taste I'm afraid. The singers on the Friday and the Greek night were fine but the rest I'm sorry to say was a bit of a let down.

Room Tip: Room 3315 was in a quiet area with stunning sea views

The hotel was excellent, particularly the staff who were very polite and accommodating The hotel was very well appointed with good amenities and very clean. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with great sea views. The food and drinks on our all inclusive package could not be faulted. If all the hotels within the Aquis group are of this standard then I would not hesitate to visit them or recommend them to others.
The location is a little remote and the steep gradients would make this hotel unsuitable fro older or infirm guests, but it is ideally positioned if you want a truly relaxing, adults only holiday

Room Tip: Rooms on the lowest floor 4100 have easiest access to the superb deck and pool which suited us. High...

I have just returned home from a fantastic holiday at this gorgeous hotel. I travelled with my partner and we were very impressed with the cleanliness, surroundings and the hard working staff that made our stay very enjoyable. We had a bungalow room with a sea view and the standard of this apartment was lovely with a kettle for tea and coffee and a tv in both the lounge and bedroom. The views from the balcony were beautiful and we were not disappointed. There were a few little creepy crawlies in the room which we expected but nothing awful as they come in from under the door. The room was cleaned every day. We originally booked the half board option but upgraded after two days as this was good value for money. The food was of good variety and even had a low fat corner and gluten free option. All the food was labelled above so that you knew what you were choosing. There was also a lovely variety of vegetarian options. The restaurant staff were so hard working and lovely mannered, nothing was too much trouble. I would particularly like to thank Tassos, Soula, Eleni as they were so lovely and courteous at all times.
We stayed at the beginning of the season and the weather was not great for the first two days. We needed some heating in our apartment and within the hour of reporting this, this was sorted. We had a Jacuzzi and a sauna and this was so relaxing with a gorgeous view of the sea. All of the bar areas have fantastic views and the sunset is just amazing. it is also an adults only hotel and this adds to the relaxation element. There are lots of hills and steps so it would not be good for anyone with restricted mobility and the walk to the local village is also steep and hilly. It is a good holiday for the agile and those who want to keep fit. In the village there is GeeBees store and this is run by an English lady who is married to a Greek man. They are so lovely and helpful if you need anything. Toni the Thomson rep is also lovely but on her own so it is quite difficult to see her at times, but we also had the 24/7 holiday line. I did need to attend the local surgery as I had infected mosquito bites, so repellent is necessary and I must say that the service at the surgery was fantastic.
The only negative was the entertainment, as for a hotel of this size I found it to be very poor, although it may have been due to being the start of the season. I also have to say that the only other down side is some of the British guests that just love to complain and I've said this in many reviews, that I am often ashamed of being British at times as I find that the most rude guests are the British ones. I honestly don't know how other countries put up with us at times, but they are everywhere and not the fault of the hotel. Alexandra and her team are fantastic and my partner and I are planning to return for our honeymoon later in the year as this hotel offered everything we wanted. We will hire a car next time as the hotel is quite secluded and the Thomson trips are very expensive and usually pick up from several hotels along the way which we do not like.
All in all a fabulous holiday and many thanks to all the staff at the Aquis for contributing to this heavenly resort.

Room Tip: We had a bungalow just a short walk from the main hotel which offered fantastic views and solitude...

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank you for taking the time to share your positive holiday experience at Aquis Agios Gordios Beach Hotel with TripAdvisor’s readers. We are really sorry that the entertainment did not meet your expectations. You can imagine that trying to cater for such vast number of clients from different nationalities is challenging. We pay attention to all comments and we always try to meet our guests’ expectations.

First morning back and I'm already missing the views from our room. I'll get my gripes out of the way first after reading some of the negative reviews I can only assume that we must have been at a different hotel, yes there are steps and lots of them seen as the hotel is perched on the side of a rock. But if you read all the previous reviews you would have known this they wont suddenly disappear! If you don't like steps or are elderly or infirm then yes they could be a problem. Likewise if you try and eat your own bodyweight in food everday like some of the guests then again the steps may pose a problem.
Comments on the staff being miserable are again way off you could not meet more friendly hospitable people, all it takes is basic human skills, please and thank you, get you a long way. But unfortunately some of the guest's we encountered fell way behind this level of intelligence, simply barking demands at the waiters may possibly not get the happy smile one would expect.
We found all the staff extremely helpfull and pleasant considering that they seem to work 14 hours a day.
This was our second visit to the hotel and found everything to be clean and tidy yes there is some rubbish on the beach and quite a lot of seaweed but this is hardly the hotel's fault all the hotel grounds are kept extremely clean and tidy.
Pleanty of choice in the restaurant for all tastes, its not P & O Cruise standard but its not P & O prices considering all the different nationalities that the hotel is catering for the food is excellent.
Overall a fantastic place to chill out and unwind. Ignore the negative comments just have a open mind and you will have a fantastic holiday.

We have just returned from this great hotel. This is the second time we have stayed at the Aquis Agios Gordios for very good reason and will return again. The location is superb with gorgeous views from all rooms. The hotel is spotless and the the linen is changed every other day. The food is generally of good quality and with plenty of choice. As is always the case the staff can make or break a holiday, the staff here are efficient and courteous ensuring that the guests have all they need. The additional bonus is that the same staff were there as our last visit two years ago and they amazingly recognised us the moment we arrived. It is true that some we met as far back as 1986 at another hotel, Nikos in the restaurant and Michael in the Lobby Bar, good to see them again. As to value for money, it is unbeatable. The hotel is thoroughly recommended. As already stated in other reviews, it is not good for those with mobility problems.

Firstly, if you have read my previous review of this hotel then I'll start with my gripe first... The entertainment has dumbed down so much since our last visit, that the now "Animation Team" (a team of three young people who would be more at home in an 18-30 resort) tried to entertain with VERY juvenile antics, to a high percentage of over 50's. When they weren't "performing" their childish games or trying to sing, a laptop was left blaring out music that only an avid Radio 1 listener would probably appreciate; the decibel rate to the rear of the room topped 80! Real entertainers and a stage area need to be brought back ASAP.

To anyone thinking of spending a holiday at this hotel it has lots of steps and situated on a steep hill side. If you like walking then it will be up and down hill - you have been warned.

Wasps, what wasps? Where have all the wasps gone???

It has been three years since our last trip here and I have rated this hotel highly in the past. We have had many visits to this hotel for over 14 years. Again, we went All Inclusive and enjoyed the accommodating range of food available for all tastes and the coffee is always spot on. Local beers and spirits are perfectly Ok, but take my tip and ask for spirits in a separate glass from the mixer as I like to add the mixer to my own taste.

The staff are always friendly and welcomed us back again open armed. The hotel is kept very clean and every effort is made to make your holiday enjoyable. The beach bar is just perfect for escaping from the heat of the sun whilst looking out to the rippling azure water.

The beach was unfortunately still under a spring tide and awash with seaweed but some parts were still accessible for sun loungers.

On previous visits our bed had been far too firm but I emailed well in advance to ask for something to be done before our arrival; as per my request the mattress had a soft foam topper placed on it and was very comfortable.

Nothing wrong with this hotel and it gets the thumbs up again from me!

Room Tip: If you don't smoke then ask for room on a lower floor. If you are on higher floor and there ar...
