We booked this hotel after finding it under a section for 'luxury destinations'. I thought I would offer our opinion for anyone looking at making a reservation.
We have mixed views, with positives and negatives. First of all, if you have difficulty walking far or have any mobility problems, then this is not the place to visit. The hotel is built into the side of a cliff and everywhere you walk is on an incline. As soon as you walk outside of the hotel you are on a slope and to walk into the village it is very much uphill and downhill; we saw many people huffing and puffing back and forth, it's really not for anyone who is not very mobile unless you wnat to spend your time at the hotel, which is where, I suppose, the all-inclusive package comes in. We are reasonably fit and active (I run three times a week) but we were definately getting weary by the middle of the week. We like to get out and about and there are some nice walks to local villages but they are quite long and arduos, involving steady uphill/downhill walks, sometimes VERY steep. The village itself is quite nice, with a fair few pubs/resteraunts with a good variety of food at pretty much UK prices. ie lunch and a couple of drinks each 25 - 30 euros.
Our room in the hotel was okay, nothing flash - I would say pretty much Premier Inn standard (I think Premier Inns are usually quite good) the beds are quite comfortable and the room was very clean. We had a lovely view, one of the best we have ever had and we found the food is reasonable, with a lot of choice. We took a kettle and the makings for tea/coffe, which we were glad we had taken as I like a cup of coffee in bed first thing. If you like a nice strong cup of tea in the morning I would advise taking a some tea bags with you to take to breakfast. We found that our room was quite noisy but I suppose that will depend on where your room is situated.
We didn't get to sit by the pool. It was the usual case of there semed to be towels etc on sunbeds but no-one sitting on them, which is so annoying. People go down to the pool first thing and reserve the sun beds then seem to come and go as they please, but I'm not sure what could be done about this. It just meant that after a couple of days we just gave up trying to go there and sat on our balcony instead, which didn't get the sun until after three pm.
I would say that if you want to sit in the sun (and can get down early enough to grab a sun bed) and don't want to get out and about so much (or want to hire a car) then this is a good destination.
We would have like more information in the room - for example maps of local walks, bus time table etc. There is a soap dispenser and shampoo dispenser in the bathroom, but not the 'designer toiletries' mentined in our hotel description. The Spa was so overpriced it was unbelievable - i would have loved to have had a treatment but it was way too expensive.
All in all we had a good holiday. The local people are absolutely the nicest we have ever come across in our travels. They will talk to you and try to help you for no benefit or gain to themselves other that being kind and friendly. However, Corfu airport is quite possibly the worst we have ever had the misfortune to pass through.
