“Fabulous hotel, staff and location !!”
Reviewed 26 September 2009

Just returned from a fabulous one week stay at this hotel. Very impressed from the moment we arrived until departure. Stayed on the All Inclusive package where the selection of food was well varied and cooked and presented to the highest of standards. The location is second to none with fanatastic sea views, particlularly the sunsets. We stayed with friends, one of which celebrated her birthday, informed reception who provided a suprise bottle of champagne, fruit and cake to their room, with very little notice. All staff were extremely courteous, where nothing was too much trouble. The rooms had maid service daily and were extremely clean and bright, all of which had sea views. A walk down to the local village takes a little over ten minutes which has a selection of bars and restaurants, particularly enjoyed an evening at ROBINS NEST bar !! The hotels customer service is second to none, we had left behind gifts in the room after departure, emailed the hotel who promptly responded and will forward gifts to our home address. This a fantastic hotel and is very strongly recommended to anyone wishing to visit CORFU.

The hotel location and cleanliness is great. Rooms are nice for a 4 star though the bathrooms are dark because of the dark tiles. Bedrooms are bright and light with great views. Hotel is not suitable for elderly and infirm due to number of steps and steep walk into the village. The holiday was a bit disapointing because of all the typical niggles, like there were no pool towels every day of our holiday. I agree about the plastic cups around the pool bar, not really necessary as we are all adults and the drinks so weak you would be hard pushed to get tippsy. Plus you don't go there to drink yourself silly but it would have been nice to drink from a glass. The Panorama bar also was disapointing for this reason and lack of availble drinks there. I was amazed things were so limited on the all inclusive , like no choice of snacks during the day- the afternoon snacks by the pool are very poor and left in the sun for hours , lack of varieties of coffee or tea. How much would it cost to give the odd Cappacino?? or Camomile tea. Only 5 cocktails to choose from and one of those is just a bacardi and coke. Ice cream in various colours just by the scoop. Not very exciting!.The food in the main restaurant is fine with lots of choice, again by the end of a week everything tastes the same. I was very disppointed that the Sushi bar was not included, why have it there if you cannot use it. It was very expensive to go there and I did not see anyone in there during my stay. All inclusive should mean ALL INCLUSIVE.
The other thing that needs addressing is the reserving of towels on the sunbeds. It says not to do it but still everyone does. If the pool towels are not available until 10am each morning then the satff should go round at 9.55 and remove any that are on the sunbeds to give everyone else a fair chance. We hardly got a sunbed let alone a towel to put on it. NOT GOOD.

We really appreciate when guests share their experience, whether good or bad, with us. At Aquis Hotels and Resorts we need to continuously work on the improvement of our service and for this need to rely on the comments and suggestions of our guests.
First of all let me thank you for finding our Hotel clean and the Location good.
In contrast to what is been offered to all inclusive resorts in the Mediterranean area, namely no label local spirits, Aquis offers apart from local drinks, unlimited consumption of one predefined international brand for each one of the main spirits ( whisky, gin, vodka, tequila and rum) and a selection of cocktails in an unlimited consumption throughout the day. (i.e the brand we have selected for whisky is Cutty Shark, and for Vodka Filandia, everyone selecting to drink whisky, Cutty Shark, the all inclusive international brand will be offered instead of a no label local whisky) and from 16.00-18.00 hrs daily a wide range of snacks and finger food together with coffee, selection of tea, fruit juices and desserts are available. We regret if none of them corresponded to your expectations and we would like to state our opposition to what you have mentioned about Snacks that stayed for long time by the sun as Food Hygiene is a very important factor in our operation and for that reason we are always replanishing the Snacks buffet regularly and continuaslly. Ice cream unlimited consumption is available through out the day and self serviced in different flavors daily so guets can gat as much as they want without limit or extra charge . We regret though if none of the above seemed το corresponded to your expectations.
Now, concerning the lack of sunbeds and towels that you are mentioning we where really surprised as we are closing monitoring it daily compared with the number of guests that we have in house plus a 10% more in order always to be on the safe side and they are always available by the Pool Bar before 10.OO hrs daily.!!!
Sushi Bar is not included in our AI scheme for season 2009.Concerning the prices due the very high quality ingredients that we are using prices are more than reasonable nad we always offera 10% discount to all our clients that they want to try it as a second dinning option.
As far as concerning the drinks at the top bar-Panorama we indeed serve limited alchoholic beverages due to the fact that the Bar operates only for certain hours twice per week (Greek night and Cabaret Show night) and for that reason waiter service is always avialable in case someone will prefer something else which can be ordered and brought from the Lobby bar downstairs.
We thank you for your detailed review and we will be glad to see you again in any Aquis property or in Aquis Agios Gordios Beach Hotel in order to experience the Hotel more fully.

This hotel is perfect if you want a quiet, all inclusive break - with no kids under 16 ! The room was spacious, with a view to die for. We spent many a night on the balcony watching the beautiful sunsets.

The food was very good - with lots of choice. The staff at reception, in the restaurent and the bars were all very helpful and polite. The only downside was closing the all inclusive option at 23.00. Appreciate why they do it but I don't think an extra hour would hurt ! Especially for those of us who like to eat and drink later in the evening.

I am not an easily pleased customer - I have made complaints about plenty of hotels/holidays in the past ...... probably a customer from hell! I cannot, however, make a genuine negative comment about this hotel, however hard I search my mind to think of every component of my recent holiday in Corfu, staying at the 'Aquis Agios Gordios Beach Hotel' (aside from one aspect - connectivity to the free wireless internet access was very patchy). The staff were exceptionally friendly - nothing was ever too much trouble, with the receptionists constantly, but subtly, checking that everything was ok with our stay. The room and public areas were very clean, food of a good quality .... meeting varied tastes and facilities brilliant. This was a thoroughly enjoyable, relaxing and smooth-running holiday, made special by the exceptionally personable service offered from our arrival to departure. Highly recommended!

Scheduled flight times were not to everyones taste, (Night Flights),and as a result we arrived 9 hours before check-in, however the hotel allowed us to use all the facility's (including the AI), as soon as we arrived, had we had thought about it, we could have packed our swim-wear in our hand luggage, and enjoyed the 'wait' a little more, after settling in we absolutely enjoyed our stay, I would say that the staff were a little too formal, but as the hotel is 5* I guess that is what most people expect, and again the entertainment was 'up market' but again, exactly what's expected of a 5* hotel.
The food was first class, location, cleanliness etc, was as I said, exactly as it says on the tin, regardless of how much I have enjoyed a holiday, I have always been reluctant to visit the same place twice, however I would have no hesitation returning to this one.

We recently returned from a week at Aqua Agios Gordios Beach Hotel and we really did have a wonderful holiday.

We read the reviews on TripAdvisor before we booked, as well as prior to leaving, and were encouraged by what we read. Apart from the horror that is Gatwick Airport we cannot fault the holiday, Qwerty Travel, YouTravel or Hotel Aqua Agios Gordios, and we would return tomorrow.

There is no point in going over the same ground as other reviewers on the plus points – we agree with them all and particularly praise the staff who are excellent, efficient and friendly and a credit to the management.

As far as some of the negative comments are concerned, for our part we would say:
• Wasps and Mosquitoes – yes, they are a pain but they are particularly bad in the Med this year it seems. We feel very sorry for those who got stung and are thankful we didn’t. Can’t see there is much the hotel can be expected to do about them
• Room issues – when we had a minor plumbing problem we filled in the form on the hanger on the back of the door, handed it in to reception on the way to breakfast and the problem was fixed the same day, to our complete satisfaction.
• The pool – space and towels – this is a self perpetuating problem as you end up with a “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” attitude which doesn’t help the hotel but does make sure you get a sunbed. There were usually beds free by the pool until around 10am. Can’t comment on the beach.
• Food – we really are struggling to understand some of the reviews as we found the food to be very varied, fresh and beautifully presented. It was lovely to feel you could eat a healthy choice of fish and meat with lovely fresh salads at both lunch and dinner, breakfast was very good with lots of fresh fruit, yoghurt etc. There was also a good choice of pastas and other more filling foods, so we can’t see anyone going hungry. In fact the only downfall were the puds – simply because they were too good to resist so undid all the previous healthy eating! Frankly, with full occupancy of over 500 guests whilst we were there we were most impressed that there were no queues, food and drink never ran out and there were no scrums for tables.
• AI in general – we felt the choice of drinks was excellent and it was lovely to be able to enjoy a carafe of very nice local wine whilst watching the sunset over dinner. Personally we don’t like plastic cups but totally understand why they are necessary at the pool and beach bars. As the Lobby Bar served drinks in glasses it was an easy choice for us to enjoy our drinks there.

Maybe we were particularly lucky as we had great weather, a lovely room, didn’t struggle to find a table at meal times, always got a sunbed and has great flight times which meant that we were able to check straight into our room when we arrived and did not have to negotiate to keep it on (or loose the AI) due to a late flight. To put things into perspective if you are feeling niggled when you are there – take a walk along the beach and add up what you ate and drank the previous day by looking at the menus outside the beach tavernas – and then work out what it would have cost you NOT to be at the Aqua Aquis Gordios. Then return to this lovely hotel and enjoy a relaxing drink while you recover from the shock of what the strength of the Euro would make your non AI holiday cost!

Thank you Hotel Aqua Agios Gordios and we truly hope to return.

Lovely hotel, beautiful resort, staff couldnt do enought for us. they were so friendly and helpful, it was my husbands birthday while we were there. We had wine and fruit in the room and champagne with the a la carte meal which they willingly changed to suit his birthdate. We could have had cake too but he doesnt like cake!!

Altogether lovely holiday if you are in your mid fifties; you will meet people just like yourselves, not so brilliant for the 20s and 30s I would think!!
