“A lovely relaxing break”
Reviewed 6 July 2010

Sebastian's was as welcoming as described on all the reviews and was in a lovely location at the top of the village. Sebastian, Theresa and his mother were all so friendly and really made you feel at home.

I'd heard people describe the "famous breakfast" but I was a little disappointed with it really. You got a choice of cooked items/toast/croissant/fruit and yogurt but there wasn't much flexibilitity with it. For example, I didn't want anything cooked but 2 slices of toast wasn't quite enough. Especially when the full english was almost double the price, I'd have thought you could have had toast and yogurt for example. Also, the cooked items were often deep fried (mushrooms, sausages and bacon) which wasn't what I expec ted.

Other than that though, the food at Sebs was great and we ate there 2 or 3 times throughout the week. The home made red wine was absolutely gorgeous. There were some other good restaurants though so I wouldn't be tempted to just eat there. Zephyr on the sea front was lovely, and the nights up at Steven's on the HIll was great too. The Mexican Teverna on the main street wasn't too good though.

The weather hadn't been great when we arrived so there was lots of seaweed etc washed up on the beach which meant we stuck to the pool at Stevens but I found this much more relaxing anyway. Even though it wasn't quite high season, the beach got pretty packed when the weather perked up and it was nice to get away from it all up the hill!

One place you HAVE to buy something from it "Kalimera" a gorgeous little cake shop just opposite Seb's. The cakes are to die for! Also, if she doesn't have the one you want that day, she'll make sure she bakes some for the next day or so on request..

We hired a little jeep for a day from Rolandos which was a good price in itself (48 euro for the day) but if you do more than 100km, you then have to pay an additional 30c for every km after that.. After topping up the petrol as well, it was more like 90 euro but it was great to see the island. One transport issue that was a bit of a pain was the bus to Corfu town as there were limited services and certainly none that would allow an evening in the town, This was such a shame though because we went during the day and it was too hot but would have been perfect for wandering round at night time. Of course you could always get a taxi but it would have been at least 25 euro each way so we didn't bother in the end.

The room as Sebastians was as expected although there were a few things that were broken and the patio door had a gap underneath which I suspected is where the blasted mozzies came in from! Also, the balcony is shared with around 4 rooms on the same level (no partitions) and is pretty narrow so didn't feel we could sit out and have a drink as it wasn't very private. One other thing to be beware of is their little dog Moby. He was really cute and friendly but on the last two nights he was running around the taverna barking in the early hours. For whatever reason, no one called him in or attempted to stop the barking which I found a bit strange as no one could have slept through it and the owners live on site.

Neverthless, I enjoyed our stay here and despite the above niggles, I would recommend it to anyone visiting AG. I'd also have a look at Steven's on the Hill in terms of accomodation as well, as the rooms seemed a little better although I don't know if they offer breakfast included in the price. Oh yeah, and take supplies of good Mozzie repellant and stuff so soothe bites because they're an absolute pain, and understandably, the shops cash in on this! Much cheaper to buy it at home and take it with you.

Sebastian's lived up to all our expectations!
The family and staff were very friendly and welcoming and our accommodation in one of the 2-bedroomed apartments was 5-star. Of the 6 nights in Agios Gordios, we ate in the taverna 3 times and all of us were very happy with our choice of meals.
The only disappointment was the weather, but having said that, we were busy every day and weren't too upset that we didn't get to lie on the beach too often. Of course, the day we left, the weather cheered up and was back to normal!
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sebastian's to anyone and were we to return to Corfu it would be our obvious first choice. A great stay!

We booked this after some discussions on TA and we were not disappointed.
Theresa arranged a taxi to collect us from the airport and despite being delayed for 4 hours he was waiting when we got there.
The journey was very scenic up and over the mountain and then down into Agios Gordios with the view of the sea.
Theresa was there to welcome us and show us to our apartment with seaview. We also discovered later that we could watch the sunset from our balcony - room 7.
The room was clean with everything we could need, a fridge, kettle, air con, safety dep box - all included in room price.
We had also booked breakfast which was very good. It is a set menu so you choose a drink ie tea, coffee, cappucino. Then you choose a juice and then you pick from several choices ie muesli with fruit, greek yoghurt and honey or full english, or scrambled egg, bacon and egg etc. Breakfast is served from 8am (ish) to 11 am (ish)
The staff are lovely and very helpful. Several family members work here and Theresa and Sebastians son plays around the hotel with the dog and cats etc. It is a really relaxed family hotel.
The food in the taverna restaurant was lovely and we ate there several evenings.
Agios Gordios is a small resort with tavernas, bars, restaurants, supermarkets and some shops - cake shop/ bakery, couple of bag shops, souvenirs etc. There is also a shop to book trips, flights, car hire and exchange money.
The beach is a short walk away although it was almost 40 degrees when we were there so sometimes that seemed far.
We loved it here, very relaxed, everything nearby and we had a really lazy week.
The only thing I could complain about is the bus service with a bus to Corfu town at 9am and 10 am ( that all) and 2 services back 14.30 and 17.30 it was very restrictive so a car is recommended if you want a look around.
We loved our holiday and we will be back and we will definately stay at Sebasians

This place is a must for those wishing to get away from it all. From the moment the taxi stopped at the viewpoint of Agios Gordios, we had an idea we were set for a lovely holiday. On arrival, we were greeted by Sebastian and shown to our ground floor appartment with a beautiful terrace facing on to orange and lemon trees, flanked by scented roses tended by Sebastian's mother, Vanessa. Our apartment was spacious with separate sitting area and fully equiped kitchen. The soft lemon colours of the room blended in nicely with the planting outside. The taverna itself has an excellent reputation hence the reason we chose to eat here under the shade of the grape vine which covers the whole restaurant. The mandolin players added to the ambiance (two nights per week) and the food was excellent including the wonderful breakfasts Anna (the cook) provided every morning whilst teaching us a few greek phrases to help us blend in with the locals.
Sebastians is situated at the top of a little road with a few shops and other restaurants leading down to the beach, with scenery and sunsets to melt your heart. The use of the pool, now at the nearby 'Stevens on the Hill' is a great alternative to the sea. There are some good walks in the surrounding area although you have to consider a fairly steep hill to get out of the village regardless of which way you walk. I am, by no means fit, and I managed although a car may be best for the less mobile. A bus to Corfu town is a good way to get around the island and you have the added pleasure of meeting George in the supermarket at the bus stop who is quite a character. This is our first visit to Corfu and we found the Greek people to be open, friendly and genuine. We have always gone on holiday expecting to make some compromise along the way however there is no need for this at Sebastians. From the point Theresa makes your booking, to the day you go back to the Airport, everything is perfect. The place really does live up to the excellent reviews already shown here. Although we have chosen a cruise holiday for the past four years, we look forward to returning to Sebastians in 2011.

The family and staff couldn't have done more to make this a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom appartment with a sea view in the distance. It was clean and comfortable, light and airy.
We ate at the taverna every night. The food was all home cooked often using their own vegetables, and really delicious. The house wine was produced from the grapes under which we sat on the terrace each evening! Lovely!
The town was quiet and maybe some of the shops looked a bit tired but this is an area where locals depend on tourism and where they are worried about possible effects of the economic downturn, rumours of volcanic ash and negative publicity of unrest in Athens. They don't deserve this as they are so friendly and helpful and rightly proud of the beauty of their surroundings.
We could understand why so many customers here return year after year. I'm sure we will come again.

My wife and I spent a week at Sebastian's at the end of May and they were wonderful hosts. They booked us taxis to and from the airport. They made sure we had everything we needed and they were full of fun and helpful advice. The aprtments do not have a swiming pool but you have access to the neighbouring pool at Steven's which is gorgeous.

If you book with Sebastian's you are guaranteed a peaceful relaxing stay with very friendly people and a perfectly central location

We have just returned from a week staying in Sebastians Taverna, Agios Gordios. What can you say other than WOW!!!. Sebastian, Teresa, Vanessa and the staff (Maria & Anna) went out of their way to make your stay with them a most memorable experience. They catered so well for our fussy eating daughter (aged 8) that by the end of the week she was eating dishes we could only hope she would try. The food was excellent and very good value, especially for the children (only 3 euros for swordfish or souvlaki!). The choice of menu was great, with choices to be made from- 2 pages of starters, Greek dishes (do try the Mousaka , its to die for!), bbq dishes, fish dishes, pasta etc. We looked around lots of the other local Tavernas but couldn't find anywhere local that offered anything much different and generally they were more expensive. We stayed in Sebastians 2 bedroom detached apartment which had a large balcony that looked over the little village main street and onto the sea. We were rewarded with the most wonderful sunsets some evenings, and to sit out and enjoy your breakfast and your evening drink in these surroundings was surreal. The village of Agios Gordios is most suitable for families and couples, if you are looking for nightlife-dont bother!. Its just a very relaxing quiet, village that just happens to have the most wonderful beach surrounded by the most beautiful mountain backdrop, what more do you want?. I have to say that for a day or so there was some seaweed present on the beach, and in the normally clear and blue sea, but this dissappeared as quickly as it came. From a family point of view the sea is quite safe for children ,with gently sloping sand underneath and just gentle waves mostly. To sum up then , I would have no hesitation in recommending this Taverna for its location, Staff , food and accommodation to families or couples looking for a most relaxing and unforgetable holiday experience.
