A wonderful setting for this hotel just on the river. Very useful location for Bath without being too close. The room was well presented, clean and tidy for our two night stay. I can see parking may be an issue if the hotel is fully booked but this could be alleviated by parking correctly and unselfishly! The room was warm with good en suite facilities. The restaurant has a distinct Italian cuisine which my wife and I found most acceptable. The food was well cooked and presented with a good selection of pasta, pizza, meat and fish dishes. The restaurant overlooks the river, fields and the toll bridge so there is plenty of interest whilst dinning. We found the staff friendly and accommodating and we did not encounter any problems during our stay. That said some of the guests were a little odd and dare I say abrupt almost to the point of rudeness when talking to the staff. Having read some of the other reviews I must add they seem a triffle 'picky' after all this was originally an old mill ( the clue is in the title of the hotel!) . I recommend this hotel for a peaceful stay. My only complaint is that there wasn't any grappa as a 'digestivo'. We will clearly have to stay again in the hope they get some!

Room Tip: I would recommend a room with a river view.

Having read some of the reviews I was apprehensive about my stay. However, I think some people just like to complain!
The setting was lovely-on the river. The 'lodge' was a bit misleading. On arrival, the rooms, from the outside reminded me of Butlins. However-although they were tiny, everything was clean and well presented. There was a mini fridge in the room-which was handy for storing milk (don't like the little cartons!). It was lovely and warm, good shower and bathroom.
The breakfast was fine too. Plenty of choice of cereals & fruit & yoghurts. The cooked breakfast was hot & tasty.
Easy trip into Bath-on the bus from the top of the road-£2.60. Or you could use your Freedom Pass if you have one!
Parking was tight but managed to find a space each night.

Beautiful location but terrible rooms service food and general atmosphere. I suggest they look at their reviews and act on them. They are using the location to disguise the fact that the hotel is badly managed, unfriendly and uncomfortable! A great visit to a beautiful city tainted by a awful hotel:(

Good points:
Lovely welcome from the lady on reception.
Good shower.
Fantastic views.

Average:
Evening meal - food okay.
Breakfast okay.

BUT
Parking difficult. Is there room for all the guests' cars if the hotel is full?
Room cold - radiator warmed up quickly once it had been turned on.
Mini bar prices are high.
Wine expensive for not much quality.
Why accept a dinner booking for 8pm if you are going to make your guests feel you want them to finish quickly? A comment like 'what do you expect if you book late'' when a pudding was unavailable is just plain rude.
Restaurant service was poor - wrong pudding - coffee didn't arrive - a cooked breakfast took twenty minutes to get to us, you could count the beans and they had been standing for some time.
The place definitely needs updating / refurbishing. It is tired. There was even a dining chair with a ripped seat.
The bed was so soft, we rolled together.
When I woke up in the night, the electricity was off. I had to get up and lift and replace the key card.

What a shame! This could be a lovely location. Anyone stayed here twice?

Room Tip: A river view is a must - but the view isn't enough to compensate for the service.

My husband and I booked for 1 nights stay at the hotel. Upon arriving the car park is very tight and narrow, so took us a while to park. The reception area is tired and in need of a hoover etc, the receptionist clearly doesn't enjoy her job. We were surprised to find our room was on the ground floor right next to the reception area and just across from the dining room. The door of the room didn't fit and you could put your hand underneath it. The bed had been left in the middle of the room with a chair behind it ? The bathroom was clean and appeared newish although hot water was hard to come by. There was a fridge with some drinks in it and a price list on the top but it wasn't plugged in. The bar and restaurant area is uninviting so we went for a walk to see what else was in the local area. The George is a short walk over the bridge and we had an excellent meal there with very attentive staff. Went in the hotel bar when we got back for a night cap, although only about 9.30pm there was no one else in there. The piped music is on a loop and drives you mad so not surprised. Our nights sleep was very disturbed due to the road noise (we were literally right next to it) and the fact that we were freezing cold. Only a sheet, a thin blanket and a top cover were on the bed. (heating never seemed to be on) Breakfast was nice and the staff polite. It is such a shame as this hotel is in beautiful position with lovely views. Wouldn't stay again .

Room Tip: Do not book the room next to reception. Think it was number 102 ?

My husband and I were looking forward to our three days in Bath, a special treat for us. We were very pleased with the good deal we had got on the hotel, we should have realised you get what you pay for in life. Our first problem on arriving was the cramped car park, it was quite stressful trying to park our saloon car. On first glance the hotel seemed ok, not of a very high standard but we were still looking forward to our stay. We were met by a very disinterested young man but took our room card. Our room to be fair was a good size and we were very pleased to see a four poster bed. We unpacked and went down to bar for a drink. The lounge/bar area was so uninviting we decided to go for a walk instead. We found a beautiful pub just across the bridge which ended up being the place we spent our evenings. The views from our room were lovely, the river Avon, ducks, hills etc were such a treat. This hotel is in a perfect location what a pity the owner doesn't seem to care enough about his guests to provide a good service. We met about five other couples who all felt the same. You don't need luxury just a clean, pleasant, friendly hotel. I would say most of the guests were middle aged and I am sure would not normally book into a hotel like this. What a pity.

What an absolute awful experience my family have just endured in this hotel! I payed a lot of money for a family room that was advertised as having a spa bath and overlooking the river. We were given a box room without a spa bath, in fact the bath that was provided was for a dwarf!!! We were over looking the car park where the very unhelpful foreign staff decided to frequent to smoke!! The staff were foreign and used their poor English as an excuse to not being able to help!! We refused to eat in there because of the horrible service and stayed away until as late as possible just to sleep there in the very uncomfortable beds!! We heard and witnessed a lot of other guests complaining without any sympathy in return, it was a real Fawlty Towers experience but not funny, dirty, bad food, bad service, DO NOT GO THERE!!!!

Room Tip: Don't go there try another hotel with better reviews, it was a little bit outside of Bath but ca...
