“Truely Awful”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 March 2014

The flooding has obviously caused several problems and the smell of damp is quite off putting.
We stayed for two nights and really wished we had not bothered. On our first night we arrived to find we were in what they call a superior twin, we told them it should be a double superior. They said they had no staff until after 6pm to resolve the problem. We actually ate in the restaurant that night the food was good and returned to our room to find that the most uncomfortable beds on the planet had been pushed together. On the first night the room was like a sauna so we turned down radiator and opened windows. Complained to staff who said because Hotel had been flooded they had to have the heating on full. No hot water for a shower was very inconvenient when I mentioned it to the man on reception he said that we had to leave the shower running for 3mins. Believe me it ran for 10mins before we gave up.
Because of Bath Half every where else was booked so we had to endure another day and evening. The second evening having spent half of the day watching the bath half marathon we returned to a hotel room that was freezing. Mentioned it at reception and was told they would look into it. Between 3pm and 7pm when we went out to eat that night nobody visited our room to address our complaint. On our return the room at 11.30pm was still freezing. The staff on reception were also fed up and with no resolution in sight, cold and fed up we went to bed. I have to say that this place is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and shall not be ever going back.
Also people need to know that they charge a 4% surcharge if you use a credit card so if you do not have a debit card or cash the diabolical experience costs more and you cannot charge anything to the room.

We stayed for 2 days at The old mill Room and bathroom ok reasonably clean and tidy smelt a bit damp thoughprob from the floods.
Room very noisy with inconsiderate tenants returning late.
The double bed was a horible cheap steel frame bed sagging in the middle awfull to sleep on mentioned it to reception who said it would be sorted.
Having got back after a long day out and about to find nothing done so stripped off bed and used the foot stool to bend the base back...
Slept better then.
Restraunt ok for evening meal breakfast very good.
Would I stay again definitely not.

Where to start. Floods happened which is a huge shame but the hotel decided to rent the rooms out anyway. Arrive to find we're in 'the lodge' - get to a place looking like a shed with building materials outside only to find that it's our room. Door sticks, hurt ourselves opening it only to find a tiny box with a god awful smell! We complained and got moved upstairs to a room slightly bigger but full of health and safety hazards. Lamp cord running under the mattress, back of fridge right up against plug points, curtain hanging directly on top of the radiator, the list goes on. For the price you pay it's horrible!! Lovely location on the river persuaded us to book but it doesn't tell the true story. We were meant to stay 2 nights but moved out to another hotel after 1 night. We had arrived late after a long drive and couldn't face finding somewhere else at such a late hour - we would have point blank refused if we hadn't been so exhausted.

We have stayed at other B&B establishment ,but staying at the Old Mill Hotel was certainly far better and having a restaurant on site save the necessity to find somewhere to eat , so we would definitely book The Old Mill again.

We stayed here due to the proximity of the Hotel to Bath University which we were visiting for our son. We had booked the superior double and basic single which was in the annexe, after reading some reviews were were quite skeptical. Booking in was a breeze Terry was friendly. The rooms were nice and fit for purpose. Only comments that need tweaking are probably mattress protectors and duvets. Slept like a log cant fault the mattress. We dined in the restuarant and was served by Marco the manager food was nice, he was saying that he was in the process of making changes, which included duvets.

In the morning we had breakfast which was lovely, again the only downside was no fried eggs only scrambled as it was buffet style.

Question would we stay here again probably as the two room came to £105 which is good for the area.

The hotel is next to the river but you cannot see the river from the room. The room is quite average but the shower is pretty good!powerful and hot enough for a cold winter. NO FREE WIFI so we only sit in the room and watch TV. It's about 1 quid for 1 hour internet usage.

The recpetion bit is a little bit old. We have a FULL english breakfast and unlimited cereal, dried fruit and yoghurt! That's definately fill you up. You would have a river view in the restaurant.

You could get a bus near the hotel. It's about 4 quid for return and it takes you about 15 mins to get into the town center. It runs till 11:30pm so late enough if you are not having a party night!

Just a friendly reminder, if you are driving to the hotel, please turn left before toll bridge. The road is so narrow and you barely turn over or otherwise you have to go through to the toll bridge.

Disgraceful. Booked through Lastminute for a romantic weekend in October, the room we were given was reminiscent of a sleazy American Motel, right next to the bins. Tiny room, cheap nylon feel sheets (also dirty) dirty carpet, cheap PVC patio style doors led you into approx 2 foot of space to bed and a 'Squeeze me in' bathroom.

Complained to manager as was not the room we thought we were booking based on description on lastminute and all pictures were of much nicer rooms than that. The 'Lodge' as it is apparently known, is described nowhere on the website, and even the manager and desk clerk struggled to prove their point in finding photos of the lodge rooms on their OWN website.

When they did find them, they were on their own booking page, which we wouldn't have seen anyway as booked through lastminute.

Customer service was atrocious - manager was extremely rude and confrontational with comments such as 'it's not my problem' and 'what do you expect ME to do about it' and ended up storming off into restaurant after writing confirmation that they would not offer a refund as we had booked through lastminute. Guess what, last minute say it's up to the hotel to offer a refund, wonder who's lying?

I will be contacting trading standards to report both lastminute and The Old Mill, and contacting my credit card company to see of a charge-back is possible.

Incredibly disappointing, I hope no one else makes the mistake of booking one of these rooms.
