The Aegeon Hotel is set on the outskirts of Scala Kallonis. The resort itself is quiet and peaceful with a splendid beach and several tavernas plus a smattering of shops. Given that the Aegeon Hotel is on the outskirts of this little resort (about 15 minutes walk) gives testament to the peaceful and tranquil setting of the hotel. It is a family run hotel with about 48 rooms housed in various groups so well spread out. The rooms are remarkably large with a good sized bathroom/shower.All rooms have a terrace or balcony that overlook well kept and pretty grounds. There are also views of the sea and surrounding hills. The only noise at night and early mornings is the distant tinkling of bells of a wandering herd of sheep. The hotel has a large and airy reception area/dining room and indoor bar where you are greeted on arrival with a welcome cold soft drink. There is also a pool bar and well cared for swimming pool in the grounds with ample sun beds and shades and a terrace where guests eat their breakfast and, if desired, mid day snack. The food is very good.Breakfast is buffet style consisting of Yoghurt, cereals, fruit, salad, cake and egg (boiled, fried and omlette depending on the day) Coffee, tea and fruit juices are also available. Beware the dinner time snack !! The helpings are large (and well cooked) and we resorted to ordering one between two to avoid putting on the pounds.
Safes are available on payment of 15 Euros per week. Air conditioning is available for no extra cost. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and someone is available throughout the day. to assist where neccessary. The rooms are cleaned on a daily basis with a change of linen/towles two or three times a week. This hotel is not for those seeking a boisterous and boozey holiday but for those wishing to unwind and relax in tranquil settings then this is the hotel for you.

We just came back from Lesvos island!!We stayed in Aegeon Hotel for 5 nights and everything was wonderful: the owners are very lovely people, the hotel is very clean, staff very polite and always smiling!!it is very close to the beach of Skala Kallonis and provides a pool as well (for those who are not that keen on going around) with a bar next to it, where you can find drinks and food. Our room was fine and very cheap (TV, fridge, glasses, table and chairs, music, air-condition, etc.), plus it had its own balcony with table and armchairs, where you could relax after a long drive around the island. Breakfast was nice as well (open buffet), and although is repeatitive (as another reviewer wrote) there are so many different things to eat that it is impossible to get bored of something. With regards to location, it is very close to the beach, very close to restaurants (delicious greek and cheap food), bars, coffee shops and market (all walking distance)....and if you want to go around the island, Skala Kallonis is a strategic point for this purpose, since it is in the middle of Lesvos (less km to go around by car). We rented a car by Giannis Rent a Car (i think he s the cheapest on the island, very cool guy and nice new car) and we went around 300 km in total!!so you can understand that Lesvos is quite big, but worth it!!Going back for sure next summer!!

Our first impression when we arrived at the hotel was "What a dump", when we opened the door to our room it was O.M.G. The walls were painted a wishy washy bright green , peach and a colour that was once white. The grouting between the tiles on the bathroom floor was black instead of white. The fridge was warm and did not work although the ice box was a solid block of ice so could not fit anything in. The terrace has no railings to the front and nowhere to dry clothes. The only good thing about the room was the air conditioning which was very effective and free. The hotel does NOT hire out bicycles as advertised. The breakfast is buffet style but repettative and boring. The swimming pool is small but adequate and clean. Bar snacks are not bad. All the staff are very friendly. The beach at this resort is not the best. The town square is quite nice and very quiet even in the middle of August. We tried all the restauraunts and food was good but nowhere to recommend as brilliant. Been to 8 Greek Islands now and this comes easily bottom. Overall the hotel and resort was a big dissappointment.

What a beautiful resort Skala Kallonis is, this was a last minute get away for us and we landed on our feet. The hotel is basic but perfect, very peaceful, a short walk to the beach and main resort. Lovely breakfast, friendly team of staff. Efficient aircon which is always appreciated in August in Greece and included in the price. The resort itself has everything you need (except a cash point, so take plenty of euros out with you, especially as the ones in the towns due to the Greek economy are empty from Wednesday -Monday) and many of the restaurants do not accept cards! Many lovely restaurants, we preferred Ambrosia for the food and service. Great quiet beach, very uncrowded and peaceful with just the lapping of the sea. We hired a car and went to the petrified forest, 'forest' is pushing it a bit it was really a few stone logs and stumps, Molyvos was much better, and a great beach called skala Skiminias was wonderful too although difficult to find as it was only signed in Greek. I can't recommend a break here enough, greece doesnt have the luxury of Italy and other european destinations but if you are a fan of quiet, holidays in lovely suroundings with great food, this place is a winner.

The Aegeon Hotel in Skala Kallonis is a real diamond. It still retains true Greek values. Located in a very quiet area only 8 minutes walk to the beach it is ideal for a peaceful holiday. The rooms were above average size for a Greek hotel and the bathroom was very nice. Air conditioning was included in the price and it was very efficient. The staff were lovely and the cold buffet breakfast was simple but you could eat as much as you liked. There was a reasonable choice..A very small swimming pool but a great poolside bar which stayed open until late evening. A very pleasant ay to finish your evening. Safe deposit boxes were avalable at an additional cost. also there was a free book exchange library. Not all the guests were british with some Germans and Dutch guests. An excellent holiday which we could recommend to anyone who wants to winde down and chill out
