Just back from two weeks at this lovely hotel. Arrived in the late afternoon and had a quick check in at reception where the staff all spoke good english. Our room was lovely and spacious good sized balcony overlooking the gardens. After unpacking we went to investigate and walked round the beautiful gardens and down to the beach. We had an early meal which offered an excellent amount of choices and because we had been up since 4a.m. we had an early night. Breakfast the next day was very good with lots of cereals fruit yoghurts bacon sausages eggs and fresh pancakes. Loads of different bread cakes etc. Nothing to complain about here. There are loads of sunbeds umberellas and tables all round the pool and the gardens so no need to get up early. Even in the afternoon there were still beds free. You can get towels for a deposit of 20 euros each and get them changed daily. Lunches at the Creta Star are served in the poolside bar and again loads of choices. Always lovely soup and a great selection of bread, pizzas being made all the time, and a great choice of fish, chicken, and pastas. Puddings looked amazing but I stuck to the fresh fruit most of the time. Ice Cream available too with loads of flavours. Wine, beer and soft drinks are self service which is great and there is a bar service for spirits open from 10a.m. till 6 p.m. Afternoon tea and cakes available in the afternoon so no need to ever be hungry. There is an Italian Restaurant open 3 nights a week which you have to book and and it is fantastic. Its a set menu and they give you this along with a wine list. The first time we went we were not told that there was all inclusive wine available so we paid 19 euros for a very nice bottle of red wine. The second time we went we were told there was also the all inclusive wine . However we did buy a bottle again as it really was a nice wine. The all inclusive wine is fine and I added some sprite to it to make it a little bit sweeter. It is nice to get the waiter service in the Italian Restaurant and the service there is top. All the meals we had in the Main Restaurant were very good. I would defy anybody to not find something they liked.
The Animation Team were great. They are all so nice and come round all the time and asking if everything is ok. No pressure if you don't want to join in.
The Manager is always walking about making sure everything is alright. We saw him clearing tables in the dining room one particularly busy night, and picking up glasses round the pool. He came and spoke to us one evening and asked if everything was ok. He said it was good to see some British guests as most of the guests there were Belgian Italian and Russian. We asked him what the reason was for this and he said that very few of the British Tourist companies were coming to their Hotels for prices etc.
I forgot to mention that you have to pay 3.50 euros per sunbed on the beach so needless to say we stayed in the gardens near the pool. It adds another 100 euros onto you holiday.
The only complaint we had was that the air conditioning was turned off on 15th September. The temperatures were still up in the middle 30's and not much under the middle 20's in the evening. Getting ready for the evening was horrendous and the bathroom was like a sauna. Sleeping was very uncomfortable. We did try sleeping with the balcony door open but I wasn't really comfortable with this. We asked at reception about this but we were told that the Director had made a decision to turn the air conditioning off on that date and there was nothing else to be said about it. This would certainly not put me off going back to this lovely hotel but I would go that bit earlier so that we would be assured of having air conditioning throughout the holiday.
The only other thing I would complain about and its nothing to do with the Hotel was the horrendous ques at the airport. First there was the que to book in then you had to take your luggage to another line to go on the conveyor belt and THEN you had to que and que and que to get through passport control. Altogether we had to que for 1hour 25minutes. We had no time to have a meal or look round the Duty Free.
All in all an excellent holiday in a lovely hotel. I would have given it a 5 rating had it not been for the air conditioning problem. .

Room Tip: The high rooms at the front of the hotel have a magnificent sea view. The sunsets are amazing!

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Creta Star Hotel 24/7 to 7/8. The hotel itself is very good with beautiful gardens and helpful staff, the room was clean and had a side sea view. We arrived early evening and were greeted by a fantastic sunset and a great view of the sea from our balcony. We proceeded to the dinning room for what would be the first of 14 exellent meals with a great range of choice even for my wife who is a fussy vegetarian. We then walked down to the pool bar where we met Irine and Edgars who are part of the in house Animation Team and Romeo our waiter who really does look like Ronaldo. They explained that they put on a show in the evening in the Creta Star Cinema. Having never stayed in a large hotel before we were a little unsure what to expect, but we should not have worried as the team performed a fantastic show every night and a great range of activities during the day. We have been back for a week and i am still missing my morning chat with Eddy, Nadia or Stefano and game of beach vollyball, French Boulles, my wife is missing here aqua gym and my son with his mini golf. This was a great holiday that was made a fantastic holiday by our freinds from the Animation Team Gianmarco, Erica, Nadia, Stefano, Edgars,Irine, Lucia we will never forget you and how special you made our holiday. So many laugh's and so much great entertainment thank you all at Creta Star. We would recomend you to all our freinds and family.

Me and partner visited the lovely Creta Star hotel from the 3rd-17th July 2012. We arrived early hours of the morning, where were provided with a small bedroom. From looking at the pictures on trip advisor and other holiday companies, our expectations were much better than the room provided for us, as it was very small. It was difficult for myself and my partner to move around together, whilst one of us walked around the other had to sit on the bed. Also our double beds were two singles put together that we weren't happy with and the shower was tiny and leaked all over the room.
However, the following morning we complained to the receptionist and the supervisor of the hotel, who then told us that she would look for another room for us and to come back the following morning.
The following morning we returned, where we was provided with a much larger room and she said 'if you don't like, i can find you another room.' However, this wasn't necessary, as the room was big enough, except it didn't have a balcony but a terrace, but it wasn't needed in our case. Both rooms were very clean that we stayed in and had a fridge, hair-dryer and toiletries, followed by clean towels and bedding everyday by the maids. The maids were very friendly too.

The hotel itself is gorgeous and looks much nicer than the photos uploaded, very up-to-date, classy and elegant. There was lots to do during the day, as the animation team there, DIDN'T SLEEP! they were very nice and friendly and would make sure that everyone was ok in the hotel and encourage every one to join in. There was many activities that took place during the day such as, waterpolo, volleyball, golf, aerobics in the water, yoga, basketball etc.

In the night time, there would be two different bars that you could go to and indoor and outdoor, both very nice, and had every drink and were generous with the alcohol etc! If you didn't want to go to the bar, then you could go to mini club with the children, followed by the animation team show. We stayed for two weeks, and there was different shows performed every night. Myself and my partner went to a disco that took place three times a week there, where older ones were able to have a dance, that took place 11-12.

The staff in the hotel were all lovely, a lot of staff came from other European countries but were mainly Greek, who were lovely people!! Also the manger would always walk around the hotel, who was friendly too.

The food in the hotel was exceptional! we couldn't have asked for nicer, all breakfast, lunch and dinner were different everyday. There was plenty of choice for everyone and was very fresh. However, before going i read a review which stated 'don't go if your a Brit.' We both found this to be true, when being in the restaurant, as it would be frustrating when you have waited in a que for a long period of time, and one of our European friends would jump or push you out of the way. However, after a while we became used to this and ended up having to do it ourselves.
Also the unlimited ice cream was lovely and the snacks!

The private beach was just a couple of steps down from the swimming pool in the hotel, which was gorgeous! however, be aware of the fish that like to bite. We weren't aware when we got into the sea, that the fish in there, are the fish they use in the spa's to take off your dead skin. We found people would lie on lilo's and let their feet be nibbled.

We visited Rethymon, three times when we there. This was gorgeous, all old pebble streets and a harbour full of restaurants, bars, shops etc, where you could buy designer sunglasses (not real), little souvenirs. We went twice in the daytime and once in the night. However, we would highly recommend the night time, as the day time was too hot and you couldn't see all the town lit up, as you could in the night time.
Additionally, we went the Heraklion water park, which was an hour and a half away from the airport and was around 42 euros. This was very good! but make sure you bring your flip flops around the park with you (wrap around your arms), as the floor was boiling and we were running to bits of shade!

Overall, we would definitely visit Creta Star hotel again and would highly recommend. However, the only disappointing part of this holiday, was when we spoke to the locals, they stated who that not many Brits visit Crete any more, but we still had a nice holiday.

Room Tip: Our room was standard, if i was to book again then I would pay a little extra to get a more luxuriou...

Stayed at this hotel the first week in August, and I have to say despite some previous reviews
We found the hotel of an excellent standard. Reception check in was very quick and we were
Up in our very nice room in under ten minutes. The gardens are well kept and are a pleasant environment to sit in. The whole hotel is very clean and the staff seem very hard working. Breakfast is from 7 am and there is plenty to choose from even for the fussy eater. Dinner
In the evening is from 7pm although the restaurant does have a dress code, the food again is excellent for all inclusive and plenty to choose from. The English seem to be in the minority though,The only down side for me as mentioned in other reviews was the ignorant ill mannered Germans who will push past you or push in at meal times,
But thankfully these people are in the minority. To sum up , a very nice well run hotel and highly recommended.

We arrived at the hotel early in the morning and me and my girlfriend were not happy with the room it was tiny! And we had wasps always on the balcony so we couldnt do anything about that, plus the shower was leaking!

The next morning we went to complain to reception we then spoke to the supervisor who said they will be able to fit us in a room the next day. We managed to get a massive room with everything we needed and we were very happy! The hotel was immaculate and the private beach was gorgeous especially in evenings! The food was the best all inclusive food i had tasted and the greek staff were so nice!! And the animation team who were funny!! However if ur a brit be careful as are european neighbours were never brought up to say please and thank you which was a pain! However this hotel should of been a five star hotel i wouls give ! 5* for receptionists, food service, food, and entertainment!!! I would definetly go again as the greeks and other staff were very polite

We stayed at the Creta Star in September 2011 for a week and had a fantastic stay.

We were on the top floor in a large, clean room with a corner balcony overlooking the sea and the pool. My husband and I enjoyed many evenings on the balcony watching the glorius sunset over the sea. Hotel was very quiet at night so it wasn't a problem to sleep and the room had air conditioning so was a nice temperature. Only problem was the hard bed!

The food was buffet style and replenished frequently with lots of choice. Despite the hotel being busy, we never had to queue for food. The food varied from night to night, something which has let down other all inclusive hotels we have stayed at - one night was Chinese, another Italian and there was a traditional Greek night too - there was always something we liked. The lunch and breakfast buffets were also excellent - the freshly made crepe pancakes were popular in the mornings.

We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. It was my husband's birthday during our stay and the hotel bought a bottle of bubbly and a cream cake up to our room which was a lovely surprise.

We didn't watch many of the evening animation shows, although the team were always around in the day time doing aerobics, water polo and entertaining children in the pool. They were very popular and things seemed well organised and safe.

The hotel was isolated, but we knew this before we booked. However, being right on the beach was great. If you walk up the beach there is a boat trip to see the sea caves along the coast which takes you right into the caves - it was quite cheap and good value so would recommend. We also took the bus into Rethymon one day too, which is a lovely place just down the coast with nice shops, narrow cobbled streets, harbour side restuarants and a castle fortress. The bus stops just outside the hotel and return tickets are cheap so again i'd recommend doing this.

The only thing which let our holiday down was the Thomas Cook holiday reps who were rude, lazy and unorganised. On our second day a note was put in our room informing us of a welcome meeting later that afternoon. When we arrived we were told off like naughty school children for not attending the first one (one which nobody had been told about). When looking at the overpiced excursions we felt the rep was trying to put us off booking any by saying things like "you probably wouldn't enjoy that one, it's mainly full of families" or "the journey to get there is quite long, it will be hot on the bus". Also, when we got to the airport for our flight home there was no Thomas Cook rep to meet us off the bus and direct us into the airport. The First Choice rep on the next bus actually ended up directing Thomas Cook customers and helping people with bags - whilst the Thomas Cook rep was nowhere to be seen!!

Overall, we would definitley recommend the Creta Star for families, couples and groups.
