This was our first trip to Turkey and we were pleasantly surprised. The Hotel has a small, clean and friendly reception area with a bar. On arrival at our rooms we were disappointed at how small they were and how tired looking they were, they also had nowhere to sit, only the bed. Our friends had a connecting room with us, and their room was smaller with 2 single beds. However, having said that, they were very clean, with hot water at all times. The restaurants, of which there were many were fantastic. The service in the a la carte restaurants was very good, and minimal in the buffet restaurant. There was such a huge variety in the choice of food that we never went out with the good intentions we went into the restaurant with!!! The red wine was delicious, and the juices in the morning were lovely, you could help yourself to a carton of whatever flavour you desired.
The beach was lovely and clean, but was shingle. There were two adult jetties, which were fantastic. Peaceful and comfortable. There was also a jetty where we saw fisherman on occasions, so if you fancy taking your rods, this is the place!!
There is a little funfair at the entrance to the hotel, which was not noisy, but really cute.
Plenty of sun terraces where you could eat, drink or just relax with something from the fabulous Patisserie. If you like a wonderful meal with all the trimmings, then please make a reservation for the French Restaurant - this is a Bistro during the day, with great food, but smaller portions - it is a snack bar through the night, for the late arrivals, or midnight pickers.
We booked a Turkish Breakfast in the Turkish Restaurant, which was very interesting!! Some of it was very nice, especially the tea, but if we go back, and we intend to, we would give this a miss.
This hotel is immaculately clean and all the toilets were very very clean, even the ones at the beach.
There are water chutes for the bigger kids and a little pool with elephant slides and things for the tiny tots. A nice swimming pool for the grown ups and music and things going on. If that is not your scene then there is also a relax pool, which is in a very quiet area.
You can jump on a Dolmus Bus outside the hotel and go into Side which is about a 5 minute journey and you will see the most amazing ruins, even the remains of ancient mosaics are on the ground where you walk !! I hated the shop vendors though, once you were in their shops, they did not want you to leave, and if you left without buying anything some made nasty comments. They all like to haggle, which I used to enjoy a few years ago, but now I can't be bothered to waste my time. There is also a very big market on a Monday in Manavgat which is about a 20 minute journey on the bus. That market is huge and although lots of the same things, it was cheaper than Side. Also the Dolmus is VERY much cheaper than a taxi. For example you pay one price on the Dolmus whether you are going 5 minutes or 25 minutes, and we paid 7 Turkish Lire for 4 of us each journey. The taxi driver wanted 14 Euros to take us one way into Side.
One annoying thing was we had Euros and changed them into Turkish Lire before we went, we shouldn't have bothered as everything is marked up in Euros. And, for information, they will take any currency.
We loved it the Restaurants, the bars, the staff, the cleanliness and the surroundings and for a large hotel you never felt that it was big, because the layout was very clever.
