We ate at the club tonight , I had the seafood chowder as starter. This was a well constructed soup, topped with Parmesan and baby spinach. So many chowders you get served in restaurant are burre blanc with some seafood marinara biffed in. I initially thought ' where is the cream? But it was not necessary. I have to admit to being a seafood chowder nut and this was one of the best. For the main I had the special ,beef and Guinness stew with green beans they were perfectly cooked beans, still having colour and crunch, good work chef. Mrs has the carbonara with garlic sauce, the pasta was slightly over cooked and the garlic was just too much , had the taste of dried or processed garlic. A little point but it does make a big difference . Over all a pleasurable meal and far better that a unfortunate experience this time last year.
