I had a TERRIBLE night's sleep due to BED BUGS. I've been travelling for 15 months & I've encountered bed bugs 5 or 6 times - once in NZ, the rest on the East Coast of Aus.. so I know all about the spread of bed bugs, what they look like, how they behave and how to get rid of them if you've been exposed to them.
My bed had bugs & so did 3 other beds that I tried in the empty dorm next door! (after showering and changing my nightwear - I did not spread the bugs!).
They need to improve their bug management system cos otherwise they are failing to provide the very basic thing you are paying for - a decent night's sleep / a decent bed to sleep in!
The member of staff I reported it to said they'd NEVER had bugs in these particular rooms (the female dorms - 'oasis' and 'stardust') but I find that very hard to believe. And when I was inspecting the rooms for evidence of bugs I noticed white powder all around the edges of the beds and at the edge of the carpet so if that was not a (feeble) attempt at killing bugs what was it?!
OTHER NEGATIVES: no power socket in the dorm, dorms not fully enclosed so you get noise and light pollution from the corridor and outside. Far from beach, national park etc so you need to rely on the shuttle. Ping pong table advertised on website but there wasn't one - they said it was broken.
POSITIVES: staff were nice and seemed a happy bunch. Bar was cute & had a happy hour etc. Pizza was to die for. You get a small locker in the corridor near the dorm which has a double power socket in it. Free kayaks etc and handy location for the river.
The kitchen looks alright and there's a common area next to it where people sit & watch films/drink - they have a large selection of films and a big screen tv, although not many comfortable seats.
Other options in town: I heard many bad reports of Nomads. I heard only good things about Halse Lodge and Dolphins Beachhouse. I only stayed at Noosa Backpackers Resort because these other two were fully booked.
