“Very good, but not quite excellent”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 January 2014

Overall we had a very nice time at Potters, our first as a young family.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was of a good quality, bearing in mind they are catering for so many people, and the general appearance of the place was very nice.

We stayed in a bungalow plus, and with 2 children this was ideal, if perhaps a little cramped. But the decor was nice and it was clean which is really what matters!

The entertainment in the evenings was good, although not aimed at a younger audience, and the spa was very nice - both my wife and I enjoying a massage which was lovely.

Unlike the vast majority of reviews on here, I couldn't rate it 5*. Whilst I appreciate that this weekend was designed with children in mind, I don't think it would have hurt to have just one 'childrens meal' option shown on the menu at dinner time. Whilst both of my boys enjoyed eating what was on offer, I can imagine for some parents, this could make meal times a bit of a chore.

I also think that again, whilst this wasn't a weekend break aimed at children, a couple of very basic activities could have been laid on to cater for those children that were there. This wouldn't have to impact on anyone else, but perhaps a story telling session, or a half hour of craft making, or showing a disney film etc would have made the kids feel a little more welcome. When the weather is awful and you can't use the playground or crazy golf etc. I don't think it would have hurt to just orgainse a very basic activity they could enjoy and enable them to play together.

Another tiny 'issue' was that when it did rain, there seemed to be buckets everywhere catching rain leaking in through the roof. I just felt that this let the place down a bit and gave a slightly bad impression? Just a small thing though.

Lastly, I also felt it should have been mentioned to guests that the sauna etc would not be available to use - infact it was being dismantled whilst we were using the pool! This unfortunately did spoil the experience of using the pool as the builders inevitably made a lot of noise and the pool had bits of debris in it. Perhaps the work should have been carried out at a different time? I also think the pool is too small for a resort this big.

Overall though we did have a nice time, and we would like to go back, but feel it would have to be on a 'family' break, which unfortunately, appear to be the most expensive and therefore not easily affordable!

Room Tip: We liked our room and it's location. We stayed in a bungalow plus, room 'O'. Pretty quie...

We have been to Potters four times so far on a bowls break and each time it seems to get better. The cottages are mostly small but clean, tidy and comfortable. This last trip we opted for the hotel and found ourselves in a very large room with two double beds. There was a sofa and armchairs too. OK this cost a bit more but VERY worth it.
The food is excellent and as we also do cruises occasionally it is up there with the best. The staff are excellent and always ready to help. The bowls is well run and the carpets good. We actually got to the 1/4 final this time, only loosing to the eventual winners. Highly recommended, we are already booked for next year!

Room Tip: Pay the extra and book the hotel!

Went with 2 couples who had not been before and they too were really impressed. Atmosphere throughout was great. Staff friendly, food excellent and plenty of it. Overall fantastic break. Lovely location too as on bus route to places of interest. Groups at this break and the choreographers excellent and mixed with the guests which was nice.

Room Tip: If less mobile request bungalow close to main amenities but in the summer its nice to have bit of a...

We have recently been on a Mon to Fri break at Potters travelling with Nova Tours and had a fabulous week. There was 6 of us and it was a first time at Potters for all of us and we couldn't have been more impressed with this wonderful resort. There is so much to do its imposssible to be bored. The food choice and quality is wonderful especially when you see how much they are catering for (over 1,000). One of our party was Celiac and another Diabetic and both were catered for very well. On arrival we were greeted with a glass of muled wine and a mince pie which was a nice touch. The entertainment was very good - my only gripe was that the entertainment room should be tiered down to the stage as we struggled to see the shows properly towards the back of the room and we had to stand up a lot of the time and this would ensure that everyone has a good view. We stayed in the single bungalows that had recently been refurbished which were very comfortable and kept spotless by our housekeeper Sharon. We would definitely return.

We went at the beginning of December for a Christmas weekend.
We have been to Potters before and have previously stayed in a bungalow, but this time we decided to upgrade to the deluxe hotel room and were glad that we did. The room was really big and had a large bathroom. There was loads of storage space, a large tv and comfy seats. We were on the first floor so had a balcony plus a sea view. The room was very clean, as was the whole resort (outside the grounds are kept very well too).
The food, as always was superb, with a really good choice.
One of the things we always look forward to is the evening entertainment, and we certainly were not disappointed. On the Saturday night it was the Christmas Spectacular which was fantastic. Also Mark Brewer and the comedy team always get you laughing out loud.
We had a fantastic time and cannot wait to go back again.

The staff were so helpful and pleasant nothing was too much trouble. The single bungalows were great everything you could have wished for. Overall Potters is spot on couldn't have wished for more and the restaurant is beautiful. We went for a line dancing weekend and it was excellent ... Very well planned. Will definitely go again and can thoroughly recommend it
