We stayed at the hotel for two nights for a family wedding so we had the whole hotel on the Saturday for our families to ourselves. The wedding was well organised and a lovely occasion with drinks and canapes served on the lawn and the wedding breakfast was very well served and tasty and served hot. The bar service was adequate if at sometimes slow and all prices seemed to be in round pounds. The breakfast on both days was very good indeed with a lovely well cooked and presented cornish fry up and selection of produce. The room was comfortable and clean and tidy.
Overall a very pleasant stay and the staff were very attentive throughout.

Just spent 3 nights at this lovely hotel. Food is a delight. All well prepared and presented, with a good choice of each course. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the welcome at reception was worth the long drive in our case. Room was comfortable and warm as the weather was cold whilst we were there. Must try any Cornish fish dish! No visit to Cornwall would be complete without doing so, and the chef is to be congratulated. Well organised and well run. It makes a change to see British Hotels performing at this level. Would definitely recommend.

Enjoyed 2 fabulous nights at the hotel. The superior room was faultless and very quaint but with mod cons. It was also very helpful to have a wifi connection at no additional cost. The food in the hotel was excellent, particularly the aubergine, marrow and mozzarella choice! Gary, the restaurant manager was a first class host and an absolute asset to the hotel. Highly recommended if you are looking for a relaxing break.

This is a wonderful old Georgian building which has been kept 'in period'. The rooms are well-appointed and the comfortable. The food was very good and the service, particularly in the dining room was excellent. There is an outdoor, heated swimming pool which is available for guests and the grounds are attractive and extensive. However, it is not cheap and a little out of the way but if that is what you want in Cornwall, this is a place well worth considering. There is a lift for disabled visitors and a few ground floor rooms.

We booked this hotel intending to stay 2 nights but only stayed one as it was so disappointing.( They did try to bully us into paying for the one we did not stay but we refused.) It has a feel of a Premier inn - very impersonal and unwelcoming. From the cheap nylon carpet in the new reception to the shabby public rooms where the furniture has seen better days to the dated wallpaper which is coming off the walls in the corridors it feels like an unloved place.
We booked A Joyce Nantwich room which was clean and on the positive side had a nice modern bathroom but with no style whatsoever.
We had prebooked an evening meal as we were told notice was required for this and wondered if this was when the hotel would redeem itself. The menu looked appealing and we duly ordered after our pre dinner drinks. Perhaps it should have been a sign when we were the only people in the lounge. However service was very prompt and the restaurant was nicely set although empty.
We ordered wild mushrooms on brioche - they were well presented and I was looking forward to them but they were slightly gritty and lukewarm. I told the waiter who apologised. Despite this when my medallions of beef arrived, this dish too was only slightly warm. It was at this stage we decided not to suffer another evening of this and told them we would be leaving the following morning. The receptionist then said she would have to still charge for the evening booked as they were full and could have relet the room. Says it all !!!

We booked here for a romantic getaway and stayed in four poster bed suite, in my opinion the Rose in Vale was perfect for our needs, it was extremely clean, very quite and a cosy, friendly place to be. The service was superb especially from our waiter from the moment he met us with canapes to the end of the night and at breakfast the next morning. We would not hesitate to book again and probably will in December. The food was Excellent.
Thank you.

Room Tip: We had a large suite so can only recommend that for at the moment.
