Went to the Park Gate for an early evening meal recently. Hadn't been there for a long time. It wasn't very busy so service was efficient. I had the vegetarian tart with new potatoes and Mediterranean style veg. Hubby had the something and chorizo burger. Both meals were nicely hot and well presented. I wouldn't say they were outstanding - just your average pub grub - but tasty anyway. It's very gloomy and dark inside - a bit depressing in the middle of summer! It would be nice to have a bit more light and save the gloominess for the late evening diners.

Walked through the grounds of Leeds Castle to pub. The service was a little slow but food was very good when it arrived. Had to wait a long time for drinks too! Nice location and venue.

Circumstances forced us to delay lunch seriously an we found the Park Gate Inn more or less buy chance. This is a huge establishment with people eating in nooks and crannies everywhere. We elected to sit outside.
The shared starter of mostly fishes was indifferent but we were less glum when the copious mains arrived. Two of us had the Beef in Merlot Pie - a very tasty pie indeed with some good home-made chips and a small selection of fresh cooked veggies - 8/10. The other in our party opted for the bangers and mash and voted it 7/10. Coffee was excellent and one of us had a pud - traditional English pudding.
Didn't eat in the evening.
Service was prompt and courteous.
Overall a superior pub meal.

We went to The Park Gate after completing Go Ape at Leeds Castle, as it was only a short drive down the road. From the outside it looks lovely and welcoming, with a huge beer garden at the back, which is where we decided to sit and eat. We found that the prices for the drinks were quite expensive, for example it cost my boyfriend £6.50 for a bottle of water and a Corona. However, the prices for the food were extremely reasonable. We had a bread starter, followed by Roast Beef for my boyfriend and the Chicken, Ham and Leek Pie for me. It was delicious! The portions were extremely generous too. The only criticism I have is that the service was quite slow. The vegetables that came with the Roast Beef came separately and took at least another 10 minutes to arrive. The same happened with the desserts. Some of us got them very promptly, but myself and two others had to remind the waitress that we were still waiting. Overall, the experience was a very enjoyable one, and we all left very happy and full!
