La Flamenca has been under new management for a couple months since the previous reviews. Friendly, expert service, a good selection of excellent wines, and delicious food. The tapas is a dream. For those who don't know, tapas is served in small quantities, so you keep ordering until you've eaten enough. Probably four or five dishes would be adequate. I've been there three times in the past two months, and it might be becoming my regular place.

I had high hopes when I saw the empty premises in Gerrards Cross was to become a restaurant, as Gerrards Cross is lacking in high quality eateries (other than Maliks). Small portions and very expensive! The dessert menu (if you can call it that) is a glossy card with pre-made desserts that are taken out of the wrapper and put on your plate! We went home very hungry! Restaurant for a Friday night was empty - sure sign that things are not good! I live in hope.

This restaurant serves tapas, but the main menu is international, not really Spanish. Tapas king prawns were good as a starter. I had nice whitebait with tartare sauce to start, followed by roast duck with an orange and Cointreau sauce. Quite well cooked duck, but very economical with the sauce. Accompanied by a small amount of salad, but vegetables were extra. The dessert menu was of the glossy pictures variety that you often get in oriental restaurants, which means that none of the desserts was made in the restaurant. The wine list was unexciting and comprised wines that you might normally pick up from any supermarket shelf marked ‘Spain’. However the prices were very reasonable.
We had four waiters during the course of the evening. None seemed to know that ladies should be offered the menus first. A minor spillage of a finger bowl was not dealt with. I had to ask three times for another glass of wine. By the time the waiter got around to bringing it, my main course was finished, so I declined it.
Reasonably priced, but you would be better nipping up to London on a day return on the train for a meal. Perhaps that was why it was only half full on a Saturday night.
