The guys working there were great and very accommodating. The location is paradise.. a short walk to the "town." I stayed in the room with the big rocks in it, which surprisingly kept my room very cool. Everything was perfect except for mosquitoes in the middle of the night

particular and charming hotel. sister moon have the best location on the island, its on a petit cliff and all rooms have a spectacular view on the ocean.Rooms are clean, with no ac nor hot water, but that was expected since this hotel is an eco lodge. service and food are very good. people working there are helpful and very welcoming.warm atmosphere.
the cuisine is by far the best one on the island, service can be a bit slow sometimes but it is worth the wait. ingredients are fresh, and dishes are creative.very tasty!!!
i loved that place, had a great time and will definitely be back.

I have been to Isla Grande hundreds of times, maybe more. I usually go just for the day as I live in Panama or if we want to stay the night we camp out in tents on the beach. Isla Grande is a very accessible island in the Caribbean (5 minute boat ride from the mainland), clear water, no roads or cars, nice people and good food. Sister Moon is very reasonably priced and although many people complain about the amenities or lack there of, I personally enjoy the fact there is no t.v., no air conditioning, no internet, no cars, no clocks and no phones! Hotel Sister Moon has 11 cabins scattered along a hillside on the east end of the island. The rooms are clean with fresh towels and linens, mosquito nets above the beds, hammocks on the terrace and great ocean views. They also have a dormitory style sleep accommodations for those on a budget or traveling alone. The hotel has a restaurant\bar and a nice pool and sun deck just above the crashing surf. There is always a nice breeze on this end of the island, as well as surfing just off shore. The crashing waves are perfect to put you to sleep at night. There is a lighthouse located just outside the property that you are able to climb up in and enjoy the best views of the entire island, if you are staying at Sister Moon there is no reason to not hike up to the lighthouse.

A few things to note: Since the hotel is so reasonably priced, I find that the food and beer is somewhat expensive, there is a small store on the island as well as plenty of restaurants; the island's beach is located at the other end of the island, I personally don't mind the walking but if you want to spend the day at the beach, know that there is an easy 15 minute walk

Me and my daughter stayed for 4 days at Sister moon and we enjoyed it very much. We wanted quiet, clean rooms with no touristy-set agendas. The “rustic” cabins are built on the hillside. We stayed in #9 it was a very nice, clean and breezy room. It had a functioning toilet and cold-water shower. We arrived outside the main season so only a couple of other people were staying at the hotel. We got there with the bus from Colon and a 10 Minute boat ride.
The sound of the ocean eradicates all nightly disturbances and provides for a peacefully quiet night. The view from the little balcony is breathtaking, especially from the hammock. You should bring a flashlight because the way up the cabin is dark when the sun goes down after a drink at the hotel bar. The restaurant serves very good coconut infused seafood and the breakfast was also very good. The food is not cheap but everything has to be imported to the island by boat so it was ok for me to pay it. We drank the tap water (rainwater) and didn`t get sick from it. We also walked into the little village nearby and had some good food there. We enjoyed the media free time (no TV and Wi-Fi only at the bar) and the fan in the room. We made a mistake and arrived 2 days early. I was worried but the staff took care of this with no problems and gave us a welcome drink (green coconut) and told us to relax and managed to give us a room (even when everything was booked).
After a daytrip to Portobello we got stuck because no bus showed up to bring us home. Fortunately, the hotel-owner helped us get back to the hotel.
There is a little rocky beach and we saw some guys surfing. The water is very shallow and warm. There are lots of areas where you can swim when you walk towards the village.
I would recommend this place if you want peace and quiet and be able to set up your own daily agenda.

Room Tip: we were in Number 9 which was nice

Sister Moon is advertised as an Eco lodge and it is. There is no AC, no TV, no Internet, and no hot water. It is a nice place to stay as long as you know what to expect. Service was good but Spanish is the language so not sure how good your service would be if you do not speak Spanish.

I stayed here quite a few times the view is spectacular food is great and service is excellent along with a hip surfer/backbacker crowd. Mike looks after everybody with gusto and efficiency. I saw some other folks had whinged about some aspects of the hotel and location I think these type of tourists are expecting a Holiday Inn and Olive garden serving the food. They should probably try and realize its an Ecolodge on a tropical island and stay else where.

Room Tip: Get a view!!

2 nights on Isla Grande - Sister Moon Hotel. Arrived in the evening and upon arriving we felt like we were the only ones there - all dark - bar locked up and just one person to check us all in (5 rooms) But he handled it very well. The room (#1) was very nice view wise so we can definitely recommend it, also room #2 has a very nice view. The room itself was very simple, please do not except anything fancy. It has a bed, closet, nightstand and that's it. They did provide towels and a roll of toilet paper! Our room had mosquito nets in front of the window which was nice. Also the room had a fan which wasn't great but worked fine if you sleep with the windows open because there is a great breeze all day/night. The water gets turned off at 11 PM until 8AM.. so have some water back up in bottles! There is no hot water and they tell you to really mind the water because they depend on a big tank, so if its gone - its gone.. Luckily we had water during the day unlike some stories we've read prior to coming to this hotel.
The bar was nice, they had some mixed drinks, enough beer, soft drinks so we couldn't complaint about that. The pool area + deck is also very nice (the pool is made out of sea water) Great breeze all day!
Restaurant was pretty descent - only we had to say it was a bit pricey .. If you walk towards the town the 2nd restaurant on your right is quite nice and very cheap both breakfast & dinner.
Please find the Bob Marley bar or on the island its called "Pupy".. This guy is awesome - you should check out his drink collection he has inside this cabin. If you are with a nice bunch and you wanna drink after like 11pm, find the guy and he will open up the bar just for you.. Awesome :-)!
All with all we found Sistermoon ok - like please do not expect anything fancy... Its a lovely place on the island, you are a little bit secluded from the beaches/restaurants but its worth it, its such a lovely spot with great views! Just stay inside the room to sleep, it has hammocks on the balcony, enough sun chairs to chill out!

Room Tip: #1 and #2 are right in front - great views out to ocean and to the island.

Sister Moon is an Eco Lodge situated on the Atlantic (Caribbean) side of Panama, at the end of Isla Grande in front of a reef where you will find charming cabins dispersed along the hill. Sleeping in a natural fresh air environment where you can hear the waves breaking as you fall asleep is a unique experience. To go back in time for a short period to a place that has no clocks or schedules, where there is no hurry or need for communication, to rest and relax in the inviting pool and enjoy a dish of island cooking prepared especially for you with more than just seasoning, we add a bit of Panamanian hospitality along with it. We want that your stay in Sister Moon recharges you with positive energy and gives you a break from the hectic day to day life surrounded by nature in an informal island setting. This picturesque Eco Lodge has eleven small rustic cabins: six rooms with a double bed; two rooms with two double beds; and one room with a double bed and a single bed. Each room has an en-suite bathroom and hammock with a balcony. We also have two separate general rooms; one for ladies and one for men, for the backpackers, surfers, or groups larger than five guests who would like to visit that have eight beds in each room. We also have a small open air restaurant, a bar and a pool table for your enjoyment. We are a pet friendly hotel but do ask a nominal per day fee to have your favorite pet roam around the property.
