“Amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2009

We stayed at the Black Parrot for the first week of our honeymoon/wedding. Our families joined us and stayed in the Coco de Mer. Both parts of the resort were amazing. We were able to go back to the Black Parrot to have time to ourselves and enjoy the lovely pool which we had to ourselves most of the time, or spend time with our family in the main part of the resort.

The staff were amazing and made our wedding the most beautiful it could possibly be. They made us all feel like kings and queens for the week. The wedding coordinator, Pip, organised everything possible for us and we had a no stress wedding! So much so, that we were in the pool until lunchtime and got married in the afternoon!

The food was great. My sister-in-law doesn't like fish, and there were still plenty of options for her every night. Definitely choose half board.

In my opinion, Praslin is more beautiful than Mahe and there are lots more things to do if that's your thing - especially if you like beautiful scenery and animals.

I would definitely recommend this hotel, and we've already started saving to go back!

We spent a week at the Black Parrot in October this year. We were there for the first part of our honeymoon and loved it. The staff in the suites area were so helpful, and really showed the Creole lifestyle very well. The hotel itself has lovely rooms, and we felt completely secluded. The small pool for the suites area isn't much for swimming, but is perfect if you want a relaxing dip in the pool. The only thing I would have liked would have been the option to have a snack or something poolside. I understand that they got rid of the kitchen as it created too much noise, but the need to go up and down for all meals was a bit painful. All in all, we loved our time there.

We stayed at the Black Parrot Suites in the Coco de Mer Hotel for the second week of our Honeymoon after a week at Sunset Beach on Mahe.

The main hotel is large and spacious, and those staying in the Black Parrot can also enjoy the full facilities of the Coco de Mer. There is a nice bar area and a big pool, as well as a beautiful stretch of beach that is kept clean by an army of seaweed collectors. The rooms in the main hotel looked nice sizes, and very convenient for the facilities.

The suites themselves are away from the main hotel on the other side of the beach. They are all ideally placed with lovely views and pool and bar for exclusive use by those staying in the suites. Our suite had excellent and spacious bathroom (helped by the fact that the bath was in the main room!) and plenty of storage in the room for cases and clothes. The bed was large and comfy and made nicely everyday with creative towel arrangements. A few steps down leads to a lounge area with a nice sofa and space to recline. There was a lovely private balcony looking over the beach and out to sea, which still retained privacy from other balconies and those on the beach.

We opted for the half-board package which was a good idea if you’re planning to be away from the hotel during some of the day. Breakfast and dinner are both catered buffet style, while lunch is available from the small bar/cafe near the pool. There is a huge option available at breakfast including cooked meal, pastries and lots of fruit. You are sure to find something whatever your preference included eggs however you like and delicious pancakes! Dinner tends to revolve around a theme, again with a huge amount of choice. I most enjoyed the fish buffet where you pick what type of fish you want, take it to one of the four service stations to have it cooked in whatever style you prefer. Dinner was an excellent way to try a lot of dishes and certainly filling!

The staff we spoke to were all friendly and got to know who you were and where you were staying. They keep the hotel grounds looking nice and seemed to enjoy chatting. There is a guided nature tour run thought the hotel, and they offer a free shuttle bus service to Anse Lazio (beautiful beach) and fish feeding from the jetty. One of the most amazing experiences we had was watching the stars from the jetty. As there is very little artificial light, the stars looked so incredible. There are very few stars in London!

Overall, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone, as well as the Seychelles in general, as a wonderful destination for a wonderful holiday. Please see my post from Sunset Beach regarding my general opinions of the Seychelles.

The staff at this hotel make it a 5 star experience. The rooms were excellent, the food great, and nothing was to much effort. The staff always had a smile for you. Yes the beach has some seaweed, but this is cleared daily, hire cars are cheap, so a trip to Anse Lazio is a must, although the Hotel Shuttle is reliable and free.

Eric and Lennie the barmen a very special people, along with all the girls, and Gavin has the biggest smile in the world. All in all, highly recommended.

We stayed in the Black Parrot Suites for the majority of our honeymoon then went to the Le Maridion Barbarons on Mahe.

The staff and facilites at the Black Parrot were amazing, a really private balconey that we could sit in without other people being able to see us. The pool was great for the number of rooms it served. The pool restaunt was limited in choice but everything they served was perfect.

Very hard to fault, I have no idea how Thomas Cook & Thomsons rate the Black Parrot the same as the Barbarons, the Black Parrot was far superior to the Barbarons where we stayed before comming home.

We have also just returned from our honeymoon, where we stayed 12 nights at the Black parrot suites. The hotel and suite are excellent, made even better by the staff, who treat you like family. As two girls travelling we didnt know what to expect, but we were treated superbly. The suites are fabulous and little touches with the bed linen, towel decorations and fresh flowers all add to the overall feeling of luxury. We had buffet style meal every night, all fresh and cooked in front of you, on most eveings we were spoiled for choice. We booked through Just Seychelles, who were really good at finding us what we wanted and i would highly recomment them. We did fly Air Seychelles, ok is about the best description, but the flights did nothing to mar our experience, the airline is certainly not as bed as some review sites will have you believe. Just a couple of very minor negatives, to make sure we give an honest review, the 'gym' is old and actually a weights room. there is no cadiovasccular equipment. There is a limited amount of wardrobe space, and the drinks are slightly overpriced, but this could be to do with the Euro being so poor at the moment. Bottle of beer = 3 euroes, wine between 14 -18 euros, but if you are on your honeymoon, you will happily pay it. And thats all that can be said negatively. We loved the serenity and peace, and care and are very sad that we are no longer there
