The views over the gardens and lake is what makes this hotel stand out. For the 1st night we were put in Room 103 with the promise of a move the next night yo be further away from the re-furbishment work going on in the bar. We did think the room was a bit small with not much space by the side of the bed to get out onto the balcony. We were moved then into room 107 which had obviously been extended making a much more spacious room with French doors opening onto a terrace which extended onto the lawn. ( if you want to sit out in private avoid the ground floor rooms). We had lunch on our 1st day sitting on the terrace outside the restaurant overlooking the lake and that became 'our' table for the rest of our stay. There is a very pleasant walk up to the peak (visible from the restaurant overlooking the lake) which starts just over the bridge at the lower end of the lake, not as daunting as it looks and well worth the views.

I've heard about the hotel since i was a kid, but really did not get the opportunity to visit it until finally i with my wife and daughter decided to do so. The scenic beauty is out of this world. Looking out of our room was like standing on the edge of the world glazing towards the sky and the truly remarkable sun set. It was so peaceful and problem free. The staff was courteous and helpful Some of the meals were set menus but still we had plenty to choose from and they tasted good. We loved watching the White bellied eagles feasting on the meat which was thrown into the lake and also the big Carp fish who swam around you asking for food. The garden and the surroundings are well maintained and you'll be lucky to find a fairly old person walking upto you obliging to have your photograph taken at your wish.

I would recommend at least 02 nights stay if you really wish to get the feeling of this hotel and believe me it's really worth it.

This hotel is located in the beautiful mountains in the hill country of Sri Lanka. Worth staying at the hotel just for the view it provides of the mountains and its location in the hill country of Sri Lanka. Highly recommended for couples.

I booked in the Highlander Suite with my wife last December for two nights and we decided to move to a different hotel after one night.
The suite was a disaster, with a dusty smell all over the place with broken tiles near the bath tub, curtains were historic and a tv possibly from the Dutch era itself. The ambience of the room was so bad, I can go on and on.
The food was good in general, but the so called 'candle lit signature dinner for 2 with wine at a special location' in the package was horrible.
We requested to move to a different room (lower) but the snail pace management said they were all booked in, but offered for us to move the next morning by which time we have made other reservations without any refund at all. and on top of that we were charged for "internet card fees" since the ancient wifi is on cards.
The suite's pictures on the website was seriously misleading and lured us into making the booking with a higher package.
And top of everything, I was also sent an email by Asela Waivita the General manager thanking for being "wonderful guests"(probably for paying them for nothing). They just send out standard emails and I doubt if us leaving half way unhappy with the room standards were even informed to the management.

I will not go there again, even if this was the last Hotel standing.

I had an overall pleasant stay with my family at Hunas falls hotel few days back. The best part is the serene and tranquil surroundings of the hotel. The staff of the hotel is bit slow. I complained about malfunction of AC in my room but despite of various calls, the issue was not resolved. Otherwise room was quite comfortable.

Room Tip: Always ask if AC is working properly especially at day time when it is very hot. Deluxe room is over...
