Description: A traditional Cotswold Inn with a rich history. Perfect for a Sunday roast or simply a pint of local beer.Ivy droops over the Cotswold stone of this beautiful, sixteenth century coaching inn near Cirencester. Expect proper English, seasonal pub food using the best ingredients we can find. Our lunch and supper menus are deeply rooted in everyone's favourite British classics. Tuck into Pork Belly Confit or Roasted Guinea Fowl Breast or try one of our legendary Sunday roasts which are worth the trip just for the roast alone.

A friend suggested this pub inn. At first the property (restaurant area) is astonishing gorgeous. Old decor and wonderful ambience. Staff seemed a bit disconnected.

Lunch it seems that is popular with locals which are in the demographics of empty nest and affluent. The meal was ok nothing special, I did noticed that allegedly the products are produce locally (organic) hence perhaps the higher prices.

The hotel/inn part is a different story - rooms are not clean properly in other words perhaps the staff will not go beyond the easy access, the space is adequate but no doubt they need a hotel inspector to turn around this business if they would like to keep trading in the future.

“Find it and you'll love it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014

We arrived at this magnificent country pub just after 2pm and asked if they were still serving lunch. to be told they had just finished. However the barman spoke to the chef who agreed to prepare us a meal (rare these days). We had fresh dressed crab followed by an 8oz Rib-Eye steak served in a Ciabatta with mustard mayo and freshly cooked chips. The steak was served medium rare and very succulent. We would certainly go there again, it was well worth the drive.

“Majorly disappointed”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2014 via mobile

Two friends has recommended the food here, having seen the poor reviews on Trip Advisor we were apprehensive about the Wild Duck. It turns out that we were right to be.

The interior was great, very comfortable and throws back to an authentic, traditional British pub. However the food was painfully pain and flavour combinations just didn't work.

I can't complain about the service, the staff were friendly and did the job required.

I would return to the Wild Duck Inn but unfortunately only just for a drink.

Disappointing menu no fish except for boring battered cod and mushy peas - God how boring is that! So smoked duck OK but lots of boring leaves. Char grilled rib eye with relish ok but who needs vast inedible chiabatta and no veg just straw chips. Won't be back

“Service a shambles - food average”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014 via mobile

Booked in advance for 9 on Fathers Day. Sad to say a real disappointment; whilst venue was quirky and the food was reasonable, the service was appalling! We had to continually remind the staff to remove used plates and bring fresh cutlery. Even when the sweets arrived we had to draw attention to remove the gravy bowl etc. Coffee never arrived but found its way to the bill. Overall, best avoided.
