    Perfect for a weekend break

    Stayed for 2 nights in a standard room in the house over the road from the main Boars Head Inn. The room was sizable and airey with a huge bed and plenty of space. Clean and comfortable with Chocolate Boars left on pillows together with a decanter of sherry which was appreciated. Additionally having ground coffee and a caffertiere in the room made me very happy. The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was very enjoyable. The bar is a pleasant place to chill out and the complimentary tickets to Ripley Castle were an added bonus. We dined in the restaurant on one evening. The food was ok but not memorable. I would say it was the only thing that let the Boars Head down slightly. The location is great for visiting Brimham Rocks, Harrogate,Ripon, Pately Bridge and Masham. Ripley is a charming village, quiet and peaceful and a perfect place to relax and let the world go by. Recommend the ice cream shop for a delicious treat. We will definately go back to the Boars Head without hesitation.

    Gift from our daughter

    Had a lovely stay at the Boars Head . Stayed in a room over the road Hollybank it is beautiful and clean. Welcoming and warm would describe the room and the bath room with its roll top free standing bath is a nice touch .
    Boars Head is very welcoming, staff are very nice and we had good service.

    Booked a table for a meal the night of our stay, what we had was nice but found the selection of extras ( such as vegetables or sauces ) limited and a little lacking., so the steak and chips were just steak and chips and a piece of tomato , bit disappointing. The sweet was gorgeous.


    We would go again really good setting and the castle is well worth a look.

    However, I am sorry to read that you felt the side dishes and sauces were lacking a little.

    Very impressed with everything at the boars head

    We met for lunch at the boars head and stayed overnight. The menu looked amazing although we only ate sandwiches for lunch they were very well presented and tasty. We caught the bus into Harrogate (bus stop right outside) and spent the afternoon there. Taxi home for a very comfortable nights sleep. The rooms were not huge but had everything we needed, very comfortable large beds. Lots if choice for breakfast and I must say that the full English is the best I have tasted for a long long time. We took a tour of the castle (free with your stay) and this is highly recommended. The staff at the boars head could not do enough and I would definitely stay again .

    Enjoyable stay

    Originally booked a one night stay but when we arrived on Thursday (6th Feb) the place felt so nice that we decided to stay for two. Had a courtyard room, loads of space. We took our dog with us and the team at the hotel had provided a dog basket with cushion, dog towel and bowl with a few treats in it, nice touch. We found all the staff friendly and they seemed willing to go that extra mile to make our visit special, the ladies on reception particularly so. Ate in both nights couldn't fault the food and it was nice to see some real ale on tap in the bar. Would heartily recommend this hotel to anyone.

    Short break

    Boars Head Inn room great very good size...massive bed. Dog bed provided and bowl with dog treats. Good size bathroom. Beautiful village setting. Staff very friendly. Scenery great, take your chance with the weather....but hey ho this is the UK! Would defo come here again.
