“good place to stay near Alanya”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 September 2013

friendly staff always smilling, clean rooms, they change towels as often as you ask them. All rooms have a view to swimming pool, and facing to sea (but from most of them you cant see sea).
Food is weakest point. No meet untill dinner, lots of fruits and vegetables. You wont be hungry, but it looks like mediterranean food is lacking on meet. Soups are nice and tasty.
You have to go to Alanya (Klepoatra beach) if you like sandy beaches with normal enterance into sea, so location is not that relevant.

Bottom line, good hotel for price, especialy if you like to explore and move around

Room Tip: higher floors have better view and more light, rooms in middle x05-x06 have small balcony

This hotel is my worst nightmare, the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Food was terrible, our room and towels (changed only when I insisted - like every 3 days) stunk of some humidity (I can still smell it), location is far far away from the actual town of Alanya (app. 20 min. by bus). Our room was facing swimming pool, so that the screaming kinds would wake us up every morning. No interesting cafes or restaurants could be found around the hotel. And we had all inclusive, but ate in other restaurants instead, because that "kitchen" was the worst of all downfalls of this accommodation.

To begin with. My wife and and I arrived at the hotel at 5am and were met by NO-ONE. We had to make our way through a dining area and around the pool in complete darkness. We had to try several doors to find a way into the reception area. After calling out a few times a small light came on and a man appeared behind a desk. He spoke very little English and was quite rude. initially we were given the wrong room but after a few choice words from myself we got a room with a double bed as per booking. In this hotel A/I does not mean all inclusive. The only drinks on offer are Turkisk gin, vodka, water, very very cheap red and white wine and Efes beer. The two spirits tasted bad but we found that if you went out and bought your own coca-cola or lemonade then they are drinkable (the hotel uses the cheapest mixers they can find).
The inclusive food is a choice of boiled eggs, soup, various mixed salad and veg, fruits and processed meats that are a strange colour and bread,. The main evening meals do vary from time to time but are still not very appetising. Any warm food not eaten on one day become a cold option the next day and is often mixed with shredded veg. Meat eaters and kids will not enjoy the food.
To be fair the Bariscan has only ever had to cater for visitors from Germany Poland, Russia and other Eastern Europe countries who seem to really enjoy the food. The owner said that we were only their 2nd visitor from England (so be prepared to go out to a restaurant to eat).
There is an a-la-carte menu which includes pizzas, chips, burgers etc but these are only available between June and the end of August but does not come free, the same applies to brand name spirits and ice-creams.
The rooms are very clean but most of the showers are broken so you have to hold it in your hand to wash and are of a mixer tap style so be prepared for the water temp to change from scolding hot to ice cold without warning. ( rather dangerous for young children) and they dont have any shower curtains, but the maids do not mind cleaning soaking wet floors and towels ( which are changed every day). By the way the maids are also very friendly.
All the room have a balcony and free air-con. But they dont have and tables to sit at.
Some rooms offer a sea view, which can be seen if your on the 4th, 5th and 6th floors and at the right angle to see between the gaps of a few other hotels closer to the sea.
The hotel staff are all very nice and friendly, especially the bar staff HIKMET, MEHMET(ali) and HASAN, these three are all 5 star.
The swimming pool is only 25x25 feet with a slide, and a childrens pool measuring 5x5 feet, so in high season it would be a very crowded place.
The hotel does have entertainment nights but again they are mainly in high season. In the 11 days we were there they had a Turkish night and a fire eating display which was cool.
After 11pm the bar closes and drinks cease to flow as does the music and most lights, most people went to bed or played card games.
There is nothing for children to do apart from play in the pool, (no video games room or pool table.
It does offer a Wi-Fi service but at a price of £8 per week, restaurants nearby all have free Wi-Fi connection( another good reason to eat out).
The Bariscan hotel is not in Alanya but in a rather quiet but 6 miles away in a very nice village called Mahmutlar. The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the beach. The beach is half sand and half pebbles but still a very nice place to spend a day.
Over all we had a very nice holiday even though the Hotel Bariscan was not what we were expecting from time booking our holiday. The time of year we went meant it was not packed and we managed to get a sunbed around the pool every day The management and staff made our stay a pleasure. Oh yes... Mahmutlar is a lovely village.

Room Tip: room numbers 406-410, 506-510, 606-610 all have see view rooms. Double rooms does not mean a double...

This year I stayed twice at hotel Bariscan, in July and again in September. Both times everything was exceptional and highly recommendable.
This hotel has a soul. Full of a cheerful and friendly atmosphere. From the first minute there, you feel comfortable and welcome. The friendly and helpfully staff is at all times ready to help you in any way and fulfill all kinds of your demands.
The hotel is safe and suitable for families with small children.
Comments that I was reading here about poor hygiene or bad food are complete nonsense.
The rooms are completely appropriate and in accordance with the hotel categorization. Hygiene in the rooms is very good, rooms are clean every day, and also each day you get clean towels (I mention this because this is not the case even in many hotels of higher category).
The food is varied and fresh. Every day there is a choice between more warm and cold dishes and a salad buffet.
The pool at the hotel is small but very clean and with enough sun loungers. Entertainment in the hotel was also diverse. Several times a week there were organized evening animation and theme nights that are equally interesting for both, children and adults.
From the hotel to the beach can be reached in several ways, but wherever you go is not more than 5 minutes of walk. The beach is pebbly and clean. There is a bar on the beach with a satisfactory choice of drinks and food, and with sun loungers and sun umbrellas . Contents at the beach are an additional cost, but that is not surprise because it is known beforehand (the travel agent should inform you about it).
What this hotel has to offer is in full compliance with a very affordable price. The hotel is recommended for all those who do not require an excessive luxury and want to spend a peaceful and interesting holiday.

we have just returned from a two week holiday at the bariscan hotel we traveled on the 28th august to the 12th september, although the hotel is a long journey from the airport it is well worth it. We arrived at 3am to be greeted by a lovely man who checked us in there were 5 of us travelling and we had a large family room for us it had everything we needed was spotlessley cleaned throughout. We met the rep the next morning jess she was wonderful wasn't one of these pushy reps after your money for trips although we did book a couple with her. The hotel is a family run hotel all of the staff were so nice couldnt of done enough for you and they made an awful lot of the children. My kids both cried on leaving as they didn't want to leave they had had so much fun. There is only 1 thing that i would change and that would be for the slide in the pool be put on for longer its only on from 2.30pm until 4.30pm and the kids wanted it on for longer. Every night the head chef would come out and sit with us and talk to us the food was lovely there was always a choice of hot food salad soup and puddings drinks hot and cold. The cleaners came in everyday they seemed to be there all the time keeping the hotel spotless our rooms were always clean and tidy beds made really nicely, myself and my parents are disabled so the staff put thereselves out so that they could do things for us every aspect of our holiday was made special and we are already planning on re booking for next year cant wait to go again thanks to all at the bariscan. i would be happy to answer any questions if you need to know anything and i can help you.

Room Tip: pool view would be best which is what we had room 201

The main problem in the hotel was the food. A lot of people got food poisoning.
That was because the staff used the remains of the food from the day before for the next day in some kind of salads.
The hotel has a private beach bar with beach chairs, but the problem is that all-inclusive does not include that. You have to pay for everything on the beach.
The beach is not near the hotel and you have to go through underground passages (because of the freeway) that are dark and flooded.
The last renovation of the hotel was probably in the 80's. There were rooms without balconies.

Room Tip: don't go in this hotel
