Hotel Palia Don Pedro
Reviewed 8 March 2014

this was supposed to be a relaxing 10 days with friends but was anything but now I know it wasn't the best hotel in the world but did not expect this the rooms were quite dirty although the bedding and towels were clean There is only one bar and there is kids entertainment until 9.30 pm the bar shuts at 10.30 pm which doesn't give you any chance to sit and talk as the kids are still there running about The food was quite good for an all inclusive hotel as there was always something there to eat but unfortunately it was cold every mealtime the food is cold even if it is just cooked they had a microwave but that just means you have to nuke everything you are eating not great !!!
the swimming pool was supposed to be heated in the winter but the staff told us it was heated to 20 degrees (ha Ha) that was the air temperature so safe to say it doesn't get heated and hardly anyone could use it Some kids did get in but as they couldn't breathe they soon got out.
Also the position of the hotel is unfortunate to be in a mini hurricane area and every day it seemed to be too cold to lie on the sunbeds I know this is not the hotels fault but a few windbreaks wouldn't have gone amiss.
The bathrooms did have an overpowering smell of sewage and I know this is an island and the drains are not the best but this was terrible we bought air fresheners to disguise the smell and this seemed to work for a while.

Room Tip: don't go to this hotel if you like a clean room that doesn't smell

My mother and I stayed here for a week in November. I don't often write reviews but thought this place deserved a nice HONEST review!!
We booked a week all inclusive for £300 each and were absolutely bowled over by the value for money!!! We had never traveled all inclusive before and now will never go again with out!
The hotel was clean with adequate facilities, pool was freezing however. The food was good, lots to choose from and always something available throughout the day...(didn't do my thighs any good at all!) there was a huge selection of drinks and luckily a peach schnapps waiting for me!
We booked this as a budget holiday and it definitely exceeded our expectations! I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone.. In fact my Grandad is due to come here shortly on my recommendation! Here are a few tips to those who stay here :)

Beach towels are 4€ from the Little shopping complex down the road should you have no space.
The Crepes are not worth having as they cook them then microwave them to heat through which makes them stale.
The beds aren't particularly comfy so expect an ache in the mornings.
Do not go in the pool unless you want hypothermia! I used it several times but it is freezing!
I highly recommend the Garlic Mayo... It delicious!!
Join in with the activities and the staff will love you!

ALL INCLUSIVE RUNS OUT AT 12NOON ON THE DAY YOU LEAVE! We were unaware of this so we checked out prior to 12 and lost the privilege... Make sure you eat and stock up on drinks before you check out

We booked this hotel the week before Christmas and after reading some of the tripadvisor reviews, we were a little worried!!!! No reason to be!!!!! Had a fabulous time!!!! My husband and I, with 2 kids aged 10 and 6 really enjoyed this hotel. The weather was fab! Although it hadn't been the previous week however. Great reception on arrival, and we already knew about the 10 euro deposit for our all inclusive bands, which didn't bother us as we spent the money in the airport on the way home. Room was huge, although basic this was very acceptable. Didn't require the tv as there was so much to occupy the kids. Couldn't complain about the food at all. Every meal time was superb. Kids always cleaned their platestes. Now folks please remember this is a 2 star hotel and compared to some 4 stars that we havelly see you all ag stayed in this was far more value for money!!! Now the entertainment staff were fantastic...Laurie, Jose and Julien did a wonderful job and really made our holiday..so thanks guys...... We would definately return to this hotel. Its a short taxi or bus ride into Las Americas's which we did a few times. Hopefully see you all again soon.

Room Tip: Volleyball pitch rooms are quieter.

Arrived 4th Jan and stayed 7 days. The hotel is still much the same as usual, clean and fairly basic. We stayed all inclusive and use it as a base to visit family near by. Our room this time was ground floor towards the rear of the complex and was quite large, clean and had all we needed.

The food always had good choice and this year they have added a corner where food is cooked to order and in front of you - theatre cooking I think it's called.

The staff were friendly and helpful as usual. The entertainment staff were good fun and there was something to do each day if you wanted to join in, archery, pétanque, air rifles etc. The evenings too had various things going on.

The location doesn't have much going on around it but the village Las Galletas is 20 minute walk away which has shops and sea front restaurants. A short bus or taxi ride gets you to Los Christeanos which is a small town with more shops etc.

This was our forth stay here and we would happily come again.

Room Tip: We've stayed ground floor and first floor near the pool and far away from the pool and there isn...

I stayed here for a week and it was a very clean hotel with a very dedicated cleaning crew. The animation team is great with a lot of activities on through out the day the. Bar snacks are available all day the main restrauant is very clean and tidy offers a choice of 3 wines or water for drinks lots of choices but would not suit pickie eaters so to recap i had a fantastic holiday here and as it was my birthday they game me a bottle of plonk nice surprise the resort is very quiet so not suitable for party goers

Me and my brothers visited this hotel on the 5th of jan this year and and we were not impressed at all. Upon our arrival the receptionist was moody and very unhelpfull. The room was very basic, and in the bedroom there was mould on the ceiling. The best thing about meal times was the cold water. The food on the other hand was awful makeral every day and chips and not much more to offer. The entertainment was in Spanish, and there were no snacks available during the day as advertised. The only thing on offer were stale cheese and ham sandwiches.
The pool was not heated as advertised and stray cats were roaming around in the entrance lobby.
All in all I do not think this hotel is worthy of its three star rating and would not recommend this hotel.

1. 10 Euros deposit each on fully inclusive wristbands and 20 euros deposit on tv remote.
2. Hotel has no facilities to change money.
3. Staff very friendly but only one person behind bar and understaffed in restaurant.
4. Nice tv room but tv not working all week.
5. Rooms a nice size and cleaners were brilliant but patio door hard to open and close, couldn't keep water in sinks as all plugs worn, had to wet shave in saucepan. Wardrobe slider stiff.
6. Food below average, have had lots more choice in similar rated hotels. At lunch and dinner could only have carafe of wine or water(No soft drinks.) The water upset my stomach.
7. Entertainment staff brilliant, friendly and lots of different things to do.
8. Nice size pool, plenty of sunbeds and spotlessly clean.
9. WE SPOKE TO A FAMILY WHO'S ROOM GOT BROKEN INTO AND EVERYTHING WAS STOLEN INCLUDING CLOTHES. IT WAS A GROUND FLOOR ROOM ON THE EDGE OF THE COMPLEX. THERE ARE HIGH RAILINGS UP BUT DID NOT SEE ANY SECURITY GUARDS. WE CARRIED VALUABLES WITH US AND LEFT TV ON AND LIGHTS ON WHEN WE WENT OUT.
Summary. I hate giving poor reviews but compared to other similar 3 star hotels we have stayed in I cannot recommend this one. It is very tired looking and we did not feel secure.
