We just walked around the outside to see the view. We did not visit the museum.

When else can you visit a lighthouse that is landlocked in a beautiful location.

If you're in the area, the lighthouse is worth a visit, with stunning views, The museum however, can be skipped. The audio visual displays seem to have been installed in the early '80s and not updated since. The audio guide in English would have been laughable if it wasn't so dreadful. They had selected a woman with a strong Essex accent and zero voice-over acting ability, whose drab English pronunciation was only trumped by her even worse French. This was a shame, as the content was interesting, but it could have been much better presented.

The lighthouse is a part of the museum of champagne and one should experience it by walking up to the museum through the vineyards. It is lovely. Where ever you look there are vineyards everywhere around you and the pretty town of Verzenay is nearby. The exhibits explain the history and present day of wine and champagne making. The lighthouse was reportedly "an advertizing item at the beginning of twentieth century" according to the guide. The exhibits were rather average to me (a three and a half perhaps ) but the whole experience of the museum and the lighthouse deserves a four points rating. A few years ago the lighthouse was not accessible to visitors but now we can again climb to the top to admire the breathtaking view.We visited Champagne by following the car route through the region and stopping in various locations. Le Phare de Verzenay should be included in any Champagne region itinerary.

You can do a champagne tasting here and it also had a museum on the region. The shop is quite expensive, as is the champagne. A nice view on the vineyards.
