Le Jardin des Iles
Reviewed 18 May 2014

I have just returned from a fantastic week with my 3 young children at le Jardin des Iles. This is the third time I have been here. What made this holiday so special was the welcome and attention we received from the owners, Maguy and Lionel, who constantly gave us excellent service.
We chose a kitchenette room, which was excellent value for money, and found that shopping in the nearby town meant that we could sample the delicious local food in our room without spending a huge amount in restaurants. The room opened onto a balcony where we sat to tuck into Maguy's French breakfast each morning. As we hit lucky with the weather the balcony doors were opened whenever we were there and the children were delighted,
Our room was on the ground floor and provided us with all the space we needed. It was light and airy, and was spotlessly clean.
Thank you Maguy and Lionel for making our holiday so special. See you soon! A bientot!

We stayed for one night while travelling through - it was a spontaneous decision and at first we were almost deterred by the less appealing, somewhat sterile exterior; we were also concerned about noise (since it is on a road). In brief, we were expecting to make allowances in return for a lower price. However, we were very pleasantly surprised by the room - very clean, spatious, and simply but tastefully furnished, and recently decorated (we booked the room rather than the self-catering option so cannot comment on the latter). Moreover, the place turned out to be very quiet and we had a good night's sleep. Most of all, we were won over by the friendliness of the owners who really went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and found a nice place to eat, and we very much enjoyed the conversations with them. You would need a car or bike to get to town and beaches, but I very much recommend this place as an alternative to the much more expensive seaside places.

We arrived after a long drive from Paris and were welcomed by the owners. We came with surf boards and the owners had a secure place for them to be stored. The room was large and clean. The female owner (Maggie) asked us if we needed anything i.e. more pillows etc and that we did not need to hesitate to ask. The bed was comfy after a long day driving and surfing. We booked the bedroom and not the self catering apartment (as it was cheaper), however we needed to borrow plates and cutlery, which was no problem for the owners.
The bathroom was clean and the shower was warm and powerful.
The hotel is 5 minutes drive or a 20 minute walk to a good surfing beach (Les Dunes) where there is free parking and not too crowded.
When we were leaving we weren't sure of the best way to get back to the motorway so the owners drove ahead for a few miles to set us on the right course.
Overall, very pleasant family run hotel. Would definitely stay again. Good for surfers :)

If you are on a motorbike on a budget this is the ideal place for a stop . The owners will go out of their way for you . The room my wife and I stayed in for 2 days was the same one as the previous comments were made about .
No it's not the Ritz but what you get is a clean very comfortable bed , breakfast served in your room at a time that suits you . Colour tv.The lady owner speaks very good English . Both her and her husband were very welcoming . There is private parking and in my case I was able to park literally outside my door . The shower / toilet area was to accommodate someone with physical disabilities . I was made aware of this up front at the time of booking The tiles may not be to every ones taste . The owners like the noise turned down after 10 pm for the benifit of the other guests. A possible base for the St. Gilles or la sable area . This is not a hotel in terms of what you expect in the UK but what you would find in a self catering apartment in Spain on a small scale . I was not aware of self catering option but then again I booked bed and breakfast. As I said before if you want to stay at the Ritz then go ahead and book it. Room size roughly 25 mtr sq. We had a very pleasant stay during our time there . The fresh orange juice coffee croissants and baggats were lovely every morning .

My family and I have been in this "hotel" for a 3 day weekend. I reserved it on last minute call, after looking for a place in hotels all around.

Our room was old. Reasonably clean, but we could smell dust everywhere. The owner (an old lady) tried to be sympathetic, but she spoke too much.

Rooms have an horrible acoustic isolation. Barhroom was disgusting.

Beach was indeed near. The town had very little tourism structure, so we needed the car to look for what we needed.

It's a trap. Avoid it. Try to make a reservation in a real hotel, maybe at Sables d'Olonne. This place doesn't worth the time you spend reading their website.
