This is one of the best places in the middle of mountins. But if you are a "nature" person and tavel only with a small tent and want to have your things in your car and sleep close to the car, you have to leave, iťs forbidden. The camping was allmost empty, there were many empty spots for caravans, there is also big parking lot for cars, but you are not allowed to have your tent close to your car anywhere.

Room Tip: To není hotel, to je nádherný camp, ale autem tam nemůžete.

Camping Romantic Village in Malga Ciapela is a true gem. It is beautifully situated in the heart of the Dolomites, besides the Marmolada, the highest mountain in the area. It is open in summer and winter. The facilities are very adequate and include a tiny market (fresh bread, cheese, salami, some groceries), a bar with excellent coffee and internet. As with most campings the fee for using internet is too high and not realistic, we stopped wondering why this seems the rule. The washing and toilet facilities are excellent and meticulously clean. The staff was very friendly.
The camping offers a large area where you can pitch your tent wherever you like. There is also ample space for caravans and campers. A small stream crosses the camping ground. There is also a pond with trouts. Close to the camping, within a walking distance of about 10 minutes, there is a small hamlet (Malga Ciapela) with two or three hotels and some shops including a small market. The large Marmolada gondola lift starts here. From the top of the Marmolada, covered with a glacier, one can enjoy one of the most impressive panoramas of the Alps. Was it overcrowded? When we left at the end of August we were, surprisingly, nearly the only guests. Of course we cannot say whether this may be different at other times.
There are opportunities for nice treks starting at the camping site.
All in all: what more do you want…???
