just came back from a 7 night stay in this very nice hotel and the feeling is mixted.

On the plus side:
- Service is quite good and friendly; most employee speak several languages and in particular French which is not something we were looking for but most visitors would appreciate
- the SPA is unique and service is excellent - the indoor pool is large and very beautiful, direct access to the public outdoor swiming pool that is very nice, sauna and hammam are great with dual area with or without clothes and fitness is very well equiped.
- the location is great as it is easily accessible and cloth the many nice areas (achensee, karwendel, zillertal area...) and you can do a lot of hiking directly from the hotel
- the food is excellent
- room are nicely furnished and quite large

overall, the hotel is very well attended and maintained and service is very good

on the minus side:
- LOTS of groups so that you feel sometime a little bit invaded and have limited opportunties to meet with people travelling individually
- the kids club is not professional. People are nice but the program is not clear and they are not very dynamic so that it's not something the kids are looking after and this is more a place to drop children for a short while than a real kinder club that would keep the children busy and excited. Limited outdoor actiivities, not clear program, most of the time our daughters did colouring and playing uno... Also the location is outside the hotel which does not help and make it impossible for childrens to go on their own during the day.
- although the food is very good, buffet at lunch is not very large and the choice of appetizer is limited. Quite difficult to eat healthy at lunch. Kaffee / Kuchen in the afternoon is although not that great with limited choice of cakes...
- our bedroom was nice but it was no the first floor so that people from the parking had a direct view in our bedroom...

overall, this is a very nice hotel with a wonderful spa but clearly not a kinderhotel as you can find so many in Tyrol.

No air conditioning in reception, nor dining room nor in most bedrooms to compensate for the HOT weather which coincided with out mid August holiday. Proximity of public children's play area slightly detracted from location but otherwise a lovely setting. Excellent service and top class food.

We visited here for five nights as part of a tour. The room (614) was spacious with a good seating area and small balcony, plenty of storage space and a safe, but no bath in this room, just a shower. No air-con. There was only a gel/detergent soap dispenser in the bathroom rather than soap and this gel caused me an eczema flare up on my face. Also the shower tray has no non-slip surface and mat, nor a grab handle when you slip. The management response was simply that they have no shower mats. Mmmm!
One snag with this room and those around it was that it is over a function room where they had building shaking "live" amplified music on the Saturday night until 3am. We were offered a room on the other side of the hotel, but no offer of moving our belongings so we declined and put up with the din. (Why does the management allow a function which they KNOW will disturb guests until the early hours)?
Now the food. Food quality was erratic to say the least, but the buffet night twice a week was quite good. Our first meal was dried up chewy pork with virtually no sauce. Another meal was beef running in blood with VERY undercooked inedible baked potatoes. Yet they call themselves a "gourmet" hotel? "Crispy bacon" at breakfast was rubbery and about 80% fat. You could stand a fork up in the scrambled egg. The cold breakfast buffet was however quite good and kept stocked up.
Service was generally good, but one dinner took nearly an hour between clearing the starter and serving the main course. It's a pity that the hotel is in the middle of nowhere otherwise we would have gone out to eat at least twice despite lots of our group liking all the food.
What a pity such a good hotel is let down by its variable restaurant food and other minor details for which we have lowered our ratings. We would not personally choose to stay again.

Room Tip: Make sure your room is not going to be affected by any loud function whilst you are staying. Rooms a...

Wwe have just read one of the poor reviews of your wonderful hotel and whoever wrote it must be trying to get a 'free' holiday as conpensation. We have visited many hotels in our life time, including one in Cyprus listed by one holiday journal "as one of the 10 best in the world". Well your hotel was far better, particularly in terms of the cuisine and certainly in terms of its location. The premises were spotlessly clean and all the staff made us most welcome. We would unhesitatingly recommend Hotel Schwarzbrunn to anyone and to the writer of the poor review we can only sympathize with you that your senses of sight and smell no longer exist !

I booked the hotel as a bit of a distress purchase as my wife took ill whilst on holiday and I needed somewhere to base myself near Schwaz. What a great find. The hotel has been developed over the years by the same family and the staff are a true asset to the hotel. A new Spa was opened in December 2012 and it really is fantastic, the highlight being the infinity pool with lovely views over the mountains.

The food was very good, with a typical continental style buffet for breakfast, soup and some hot dishes for lunch and a very nice dinner service which includes wine if you are staying 3 nights or more on a half board basis. We had been on a ski holiday, 45 minutes away near Mayrhofen in a 5 Star Superior hotel which we had stayed at before but in many ways I preferred this hotel. The staff speak excellent English and the spa was very well suited to non German and Austrian visitors as it had options for both clothed and non clothed areas.

The rooms vary from the more traditional to quite modern and all rooms seem to have a balcony.
I really can't thank the hotel and staff enough for looking after my wife and her parents when she got out of hospital. I hope to return as it is a beautiful area.

Well done and thank you.

The new spa at the Hotel Schwarzbrunn is absolutely wonderful! We have been guests at this hotel for many years and were so excited to try out the new spa facilities during our last stay in December. It really is a super experience for the whole family. Our 2 year old daughter refused to leave the kids play spa area with its fountains and waterfalls! The service, food and guest rooms in the hotel were as superb as always. This is a hotel we are happy to visit again and again.
