I've just returned from a business trip to Telford with a colleague and found a jewel of a little country style hotel nearby. My firm's hotel booking agency couldn't find anything in Telford itself due to a conference or suchlike and I wasn't really looking forward to being stuck out in the sticks with the Chelsea, Man U final on TV etc. The Wroxeter Hotel in the tiny village of Wroxeter just next to the Wroxeter Vinyard and Roman City Museum was however a lovely place to spend the night. A small (15 room) immaculately clean, family run hotel that appears to have just had a makeover. The food was good and the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. It's about a 10 min taxi ride from Shrewsbury and has beautiful gardens and a reasonable bar. Strongly recommended for those looking for a quiet night out rather than a party atmosphere.
